I have been using this in an indoor tent and in the landscape. The readings are consistent, and the battery usage has been excellent. The range is very good back to the hub. The probe does feel a bit large in smaller pots, so it can be a tight fit for compact houseplants, but it’s perfectly fine in landscape beds and larger containers. Overall, a solid moisture meter with reliable performance. App and ecosystem are really well done.

Just insert them into the soil and leave them there. No need to remove it from soil. No need to clean after each use. The moisture level will be automatically detected and displayed on the sensor or app if you connect it with RainPoint wifi hub. Bought the gateway+sensor kit and six individual sensors to take care of my veggie garden during my 4-week business trip in Europe, so that I don’t need to pay for plant-sitting. The app is quite user-friendly and connection is stable. Integration the sensors with my existing RainPoint smart watering system is a breeze. I checked the app daily during my trip to see how my veggies doing and feel stay connected with them while I am away.I am very pleased that all my veggies are doing well when I am back. It's a huge help to save my time and water bill in my daily plant care routine no matter where I am. P.S. Different plants have different watering frequency and change of season or ambient humidity/temperature also affect their watering needs. I utilize the sensors to help determine the preferred moisture level for different plants and the appropriate watering schedules, which is great. Love the reliability and convenience this product brings!

Last week, I purchased two of these sensors, a hub and a Smart 2 zone water timer. All Rainpoint products. After a few hours fiddling with I couldn't get the hub to load. A call to customer service helped find that the issue was that the Home App is not the correct app to use. The app needed is Rainpoint Tuya. Using the Tuya version of the app the hub and Smart 2 zone timer work great. Following the instructions included with the sensors, I cannot get the sensors to connect to the app. I guess tomorrow will be another customer service call. The sensors function in stand alone mode, they just won't connect wirelessly. The wireless function is why I purchased these items.

As others have said, it works well and gives consistent measurements. At first, it would continuously send measurements at intervals (~8 minutes I remember), but they realized the battery tax that produced and updated the firm to send updates only on changes. The unit has a was moisture/water absorption problem. It comes with 2 gaskets for each portion of assembly (face to main frame, battery panel to main frame). From experience, I would say you add some silicone sealant; the gaskets are insufficient..

Not accurate. Every time I push the button I get a different reading way off from the first reading. Checked with a regular soil meter from another brand and it’s not accurate. I have 2 soil sensors and I have the same problem with both of them. Doesn’t update on the app as it should. Wish I would have returned before return window expired.

This is the game changer! Got the sensor with hub from one of my friends as a gift and used for almost a month . Tried many others before, some of them are hard to connect to either my phone or the hub, some not accurate over time. This is the best one so far. The setup is really easy, the connectivity is great and the readings are accurate. As the looks on the surface of the soil doesn’t mean it is moist or dry in the root zone and even water comes out of drainage hole doesn’t necessarily mean the soil is well saturated especially for hydrophobic one. By using this sensor, I can easily check the moisture level by simply looking at the LCD screen or water when I get the low moisture alert on my phone. Really like the feature that the reading on the sensor will be automatically refreshed and I can monitor my plants anytime anywhere. This RainPoint soil meter is a useful tool for both beginners or experienced gardeners.I will definitely recommend it. Thanks RainPoint, Thanks Amazon!!!

While I like the product it does not connect to my RainPoint WiFi water pump which was the purpose of the purchase - they appear to operate on separate apps provided by the RainPoint (Tuya / Home). Perhaps this is on me for not researching properly but it’s frustrating that two smart products from the same company can’t integrate.

Great product. Little broken hearted that they couldn't even put AAA batteries with it to get started.

Firstly, this is the only moisture sensor available on Amazon Canada. Secondly, it's in the list of products that came with my rain timers. I order it, and it won't connect. Rainpoint is telling me that I have to order a sensor from AmazonUS - then what? More shipping fees, import/tariffs? Why is it incompatible? Why are you offering an incompatible sensor and not the compatible one? Their other products are clunky enough with connections etc. If I could turn back time on the whole company's system I would.
