Great condition
The horseradish root is awesome! It already has little sprouts. And they included a few little onions as a gift I guess!

large top root, better for culinary but sprouted successfully
Very large top root portion received. There was some mold on the root when received which I wiped off. I purchased this to plant it so I was disappointed as the top root is normally what would be used in the kitchen with the smaller roots for planting. I planted it and was skeptical as it hadn't shown sprouts for a while but now it has sprouted several shoots and is growing quickly.

Hit Or Miss Root Was A Hit For Me.
I purchased this as an homage to my father, who grew horseradish. When he did. it grew all over the yard because it wasn't contained in any way. He passed away and for the next couple decades, my mother pulled it up whenever and wherever it came up. Many people have complained about this product not growing or whatever. My root came wrapped nicely. I took it out of the supplied wrapping, cleaned it and wrapped it in a damp paper towel in a plastic bag and set it in a cool area. A few days later, I put the root in a flower pot. The pot was set on some seed heating mats along with the other seeds I am growing. Three days later there was a little spike of green leaf. More have followed and now there are lots of leaves which would seem to indicate healthy growth. Right now there are leaves that are over 6 inches tall and "baby" leaves continue to pop up. In the midst of the "snowmagedden" that struck the east coast, this horseradish plant has been a welcome sign of life and the spring to come. I am more than satisfied and can't wait to see the whole thing grow bigger, eventual harvest and use. Dad would be happy.

Would 100% recommend
Roots came and were absolutely beautiful. I received three roots. One was smaller (about four inches and a little wider than finger thickness) and the other two were 4.5 and almost 6 inches and extremely thick. They were healthy and still moist even with a few day delay at the post office due to a snow storm. Canโt wait to get them in a pot to hopefully grow some more.

Rotted
I am a fairly experienced gardener and I was very disappointed that the piece sent to me was large old and woody and simply rotted in the ground. It is a pity as I wanted a horseradish plant.
