Lovely alternative to Jamesons
I won't lie when I say that the new bottle design and rebrand threw me when I first opened the box. Which probably also tells you how often I open a new bottle. Aside from that shock the whiskey is the same as I expected. There is a reason why Powers Gold Label has been the favourite whiskey in Irish family homes for generations. Outside of Ireland, drinking Powers Gold Label is the road less travelled in thanks to Jamesons winning space for Irish whiskey in bars around the world. Flavourwise it's similar to Jamesons, but slightly less rounded and (used to be) slightly less expensive. The slight loss in roundness benefits the flavour. If you are used to drinking Scotch then you are in for a much smoother experience altogether. If you really miss the harshness of Scotch rather than the pleasant warmth of Powers or Jamesons. For my home, this is my go to with Red Breast or Jamesons Triple Crest as the rare treat.

Even better than I remember
I was a young man when I first tasted Powers and I was very impressed. I've been a lifelong, primarily whisky and whiskey drinker, but Powers dipped way below my horizon for many years! I saw it on Amazon as I was ordering another Irish whiskey and thought, why not; 'for the sake of auld lang syne!' What a great decision. Powers is, if anything even better than my memory of it. Deliciously sweet, mild and mellow, with a finish that lasts a considerable length of time.

First time buy but not the last
This is the first time I have tried Power's Gold Label and I can, as a seasoned Whisk(e)y drinker, recommend it wholeheartedly. It is smooth, sweet, spicy and comforting and for the price is a bargain. I find some Irish whiskey disappointing when compared with my favourite Islays and Campbeltowns but this is one of those drams that satisfies from the nose, through the taste to the finish and a real whiskey chaser if there ever was.......I am buying this again....

Very nice whisk(e)y!
Really smooth, very pleasant flavour, and a distinctive character. I shall buy this again - despite being a dedicated Scotch malt whisky fan.

Full flavoured
Better than expected. Full flavoured rich whisky, very well done. Single distillery Not chill filtered 43.2% This is up in single malt territory on many levels, with the higher strength you can add a touch of water to open up the flavours. Volvic is best branded water for this, a teaspoon in a generous measure is a good start.
