Mouth pelham,double jointed,lozenge,copper mix,bitthis is a very useful pelham for the horses that lean on a mullen mouth piece,but donot feel well with the nutcracker action of a single joint.as you can see the pelham is an incorporation of the weymouth and bradoon so itshould be used either with two reins or roundings depending on the action you require.when the first rein is used the pelham acts like a hanging cheek snaffle ,putting slight pressure on the poll.when the second rein is brought into play this inreases the leverage and lip pressure.the curb chain should be fitted so that it get tightens when the second rein is brought into play.the oval shape link in the pelham called ˜ lozenge has been the favourite part ofmouthpiece for most of the horses. The reins are pulled the middle part of the bit fully rests on the tongue without squeezing. The tongue s sense of touch is utilised and clear instruction can be given.the lozenge pelham provides an incomparable precise contact between rider and horse.
