Husband loved them.
My husband said they were great.

Honestly, I was surprised at how much I liked this. Great ham texture with a unique pickled flavor.
I really wasn’t sure what to expect here. Everything I feared turned out to be a non-issue. The texture of the ham is exactly that of freshly cut ham chunks. No sogginess, no over-softness, no anything bad. The flavor is of ham, with a pickle. If this were sliced into sandwich sized pieces, it could be used on a sandwich and the taste would be just like a ham sandwich with pickles on it, except the eater would wonder where in the world the pickles were hiding. It really is good. The only thing I think is an issue is the fact that they do use red dye #40 to color the ham (My guess is the ham would be a bit gray without it, as many similarly treated meats would be). If they tried to color with beets or turmeric or something different, they could remove the artificially colored designation and have better marketing for the product. I mean, how would they make this for the EU, as Red Dye #40 is banned there (as well as in several other places in the world)? It’s definitely a change the company should make, and hopefully they are already looking to do so, as this really is a surprisingly good product.

Hold The Vinegariness
Our homestead loves ham. Those foil-wrapped, spiral-sliced ones are out favorite. However, they are generally come in hunks which weigh around 8 pounds. This ham-in-a-jar allowed us to try a smaller portion of ham.It arrived pretty quickly: In two days and in good condition. It was right on time given the estimated delivery date. Its jar's opening was protected by a rather robust foil seal.According to the labeling, the ham is artificially colored. Which was easily confirmed when a chuck was sliced in two and the dyed outer area was much darker than the remainder. But, that is a small point when compared to the overpowering "vinegariness" of its taste. Which significantly masks any ham-like taste. Admittedly, as I recall, this is my first experience with pickled ham. Thus, I am most certainly not an expert on same. (Nor am I likely to become one.) This product may be the greatest pickled ham ever, it's just not for me. I really wish it had been.

Tastes good. I wish they'd consider using glass jars.
I like the taste and texture of this pickled ham. The texture is nicely chewy, and the tanginess of the pickle juice does not overwhelm the ham flavor. The cubed ham sizes make it easy to snack on too, or use in things like salads and stuff. I wish it came in a bigger jar though. Also, I am not a fan of the fact that these come in plastic jars.

Pickled ham
Bay View Pickled Badger Ham is quite the interesting food item. I like ham and I like pickled things but this didn't please my palate. I think it's a texture thing as well. The spicy, vinegary taste combined with sweet ham is just weird. Not awful, but very foreign to my taste buds. I imagine this would taste better cold with some accouterments as I just tried it straight from the jar. The jar is rather small for the amount of ham you get so the value is below average.

Not bad
I have not tried very many pickled things but one of my favorite snacks is dill pickles so ive tried to broaden my thoughts on different pickled items. This ham actually pretty good! The bottle arrived intact and in good shape. The ham is fully cooked so it is safe to eat this right out of the jar. For me that’s going a bit too far for my comfortability so I decided to chop these cubes into small slices and pan fry them until crispy. This did dry out the small slices of ham and made them a bit tough but adding the extra cooking helped me get over the initial “take meat out of jar and eat it” cautiousness I had. Cooking the ham this way was very similar to eating spam(which I love). I cooked scrambled eggs after in the grease and vinegar left over by the ham and the eggs turned out fantastic! The ham definitely has a strong vinegar taste but other than that its just good ol ham. Someone mentioned cutting these in half and serving cold with cheese and crackers and I might just try that! Overall this ham beat my expectations and I’m glad I have these to get my friends and family out of their comfort zones as well! If you enjoy spam or just want to have something new to try don’t count these out!

Just fine...but
Bottle arrived just fine with an intact seal. I usually like pickled things. Eggs, fish, shrimp, calamari, asparagus, and pork rinds. This isn't my favorite though. This has more of a salty taste and not as much of a vinegar taste. I think that I will dump some of the brine out and replace it with something of my own creation. I'm thinking more of a vinegar taste will be nice. I also think that I will put some Cajun seasoning and some black pepper in it. I did this the last time I ordered something pickled too. Just because I want something with more vinegar and spice doesn't mean that this isn't decent stuff. It does seem to be of a decent quality. i could eat this just as it is too. i am calling this 5 stars as the quality is just fine and others would most likely enjoy this.

Sour and Salty, just as described
We like to taste things from other areas that are unique to us. I think this is an acquired taste. There's no heat level to it. It's very salty on it's own. The pickled part with the ham makes it a sour and salty bite of meat. We tried making ham salad out of it, and it worked much better. The salt flavor was toned down, and the pickle flavor was perfect in the ham salad. The item is well packaged and comes with a long best by date. It doesn't have to be stored in the fridge. It's a high quality item.
