Can these be slipped on and off easily without using the laces?

It would be very difficult to slip these on and off without loosening or tightening the laces.

Im 8.5 would a 8.5 or 9 will be good?

I have a wide 8.5 and they fit perfect, even with woolly socks. I did not have to move up to size 9 as sometimes I do with such wide feet.

I would definitely go with 9.5.
