Versatile and Powerful
The microwave is powerful and cooks evenly. On lower power settings it is also effective because it doesn't achieve the low power by giving a blast at high power at intervals, it modulates the power. The convection is good. As it cooks from the top things crisp up well. We treat it as a fan oven for recipes. The combination microwave and convection works well also. You can knock several minutes off convection cooking frozen items. Not tried the grill. There are a few negatives: The display is a bit dim. The intermittent fan that cools the internal electronics is quite loud. To use convection you have to insert the supplied enamelled steel tray which isn't dishwasher safe. We use an extra circular tray on top which is dishwasher safe. It's a great oven for small quantities and saves energy over the main, large oven

Larger inside than you may think.
Firstly this is a very nice mirowave in white, and a good bit cheaper than the silver one. This is the one i am reviewing. Model NN-CT54JW stainless steel interior looks very up market compared to others, these type of microwaves are supposedly sold as a 3 in 1. Microwave, Oven, and grill. Although i think the Oven as a convection oven is maybe not the same as an electric oven in a normal cooker. This one uses the grill function together with a fan to mimic an electric oven, i think i have that right, which is OK, as long as this set up works, which in my opinion it does. I tried a large size pizza using the oven, and it tasted just as good as my normal electric oven. The glass turntable is a massive 34 cm across, a lot larger than my previous one, which was just a microwave, its handy to have the different cooking options available if you need them. The operation of all the buttons, and what each press will do, had me a bit worried at first, my last one just had 2 knobs, which was very simple, i tried one of these digital type ones years ago, but changed it for a simpler one, as i could not make sense of all the buttons, it was too much of a headache. but luckily before i bought this one, i knew exactly how to work each button, and what each press will do, as i saw a video on you tube by Lords Electrical, a 9 minute video with the guy showing every operation of the buttons in a very simple and understandable way, watched it twice and i could make sense of everything this microwave has to offer before it arrived. I highly recommend watching this video if the digital touch pad with all those buttons start to feel like the deck of the star ship Enterprize. Just search for this make and model on you tube, and this video should show up, although he uses the silver one to describe the operation of this machine. As some reviewers have said, their is a small judder in the turntable, nothing to worry about, as it does not affect the cooking at all, something to keep in mind though. Size wise, it is a large interior, without taking up much room on the countertop, similar makes are far more deeper in size, as others have said the power cord is fairly short 90cm or so, fitted on the right side of the machine as you look at it from the front, perfect in my case, but they could have made it a bit longer. If you are use to just a microwave on its own like my last one, then you need to know that when this one is finished cooking the motor stays on for a couple of minutes or so after you take out your food and close the door, a bit disconcerting at first, but this is normal with this microwave. There are a myriad of makes and models of these microwaves for sale, as panasonic have a good name for breadmakers, i thought i would try this one, so far i am glad i did, it feels well made, stainless steel interior looks very clean and professional, you can clearly see whats cooking inside, a good bright light, and a gleaming white colour will look good in most kitchens, if i need to change my review of this microwave, i will update it if something goes wrong, which i am hoping, will not be any time soon. again i highly recommend watching the Lords Electircal video on you tube, i may not have bought this make and model if i did not find that video.

Good but somewhat stressful.
This combination microwave oven is very good but in a slightly wham bam thank you ma'am way. I had an older Panasonic that was very genteel to use It was just a large standard microwave. This as a replacement by comparison was a loud buzzing wering whooshing monstrosity. But technically it is very proficient. It's a strange hybrid in that it's not really a proper oven but for day-to-day use it's somewhat better. Basically it oven bakes smaller things wonderfully, having the heat mainly from the top is superb for crisping up smaller things, small cuts of meat smaller baked goods. I found the unit particularly good for roasting or grilling seeds and nuts which came out beautifully. I don't think this is very much of a negative but because it is a convection oven, in order to stay cool it has many more and louder fans. Even when just using the microwave there is massive wooshing and and fan noise even after you finish cooking. Technically the oven was excellent the temperature was absolutely bang on for the convection oven, the clever reduction of microwave power is much better than the old fashioned way of low being just full power for a few seconds every minute. Mine did develop a potential fault basically the turntable seemed to be slightly jerky as it turned. I don't know if there was some fault or it just was an effect of the friction of the rollers that would stick for a little bit and then jerk around a little faster. After consulting Panasonic and taking their advice, I returned the unit because if I'm investing in a major purchase I wish to get many years of long use out of it. Anyway I decided not to rebuy the item. I realised that I personally didn't or don't use the oven function very much. Secondly heating elements are behind a grill so they are impossible to clean, I had the same thing with an old Panasonic grill microwave I had years ago once you get oil splatters behind the grill, your microwave tends to stink forever more of burnt grease. But I think you can prevent this if you're careful with splattering. Anyway I chose instead a standard conventional microwave only and to be honest I like the peace of it. The fans are much quieter and don't go on forever. That said I have a lot of respect for the original combination microwave I tried. It all depends on the type of food that you eat. If you like breaded meats pies and other baked goods it's absolutely fantastic. One reviewer said it's a lonely man's dream and that's my position it is actually a pretty great device. Wishing everyone the very best.

Very happy with our purchase
We bought this Combi Oven as a replacement for our old one (which we had had for years). It is so easy to use and does everything we want it to do. It a 1000W, 27L oven. You can use the microwave and grill together as well as the convection and microwave. There are 6 microwave power levels - high, defrost, medium, low, simmer and warm and can be programmed for 30 mins on high and for up to 99 mins 50 secs on the other settings. You can also add time on during cooking. The convection oven goes from 40°C and 100°C-220°C. Can’t recommend highly enough

Reckon suitable for many small families
This replaces a Sharp combination overn which gave sterling service for 29 years but which the light bulb has been tempermental during the past year. The Panasonic internal dimensions are almost the same in each 3 vertices to within half a cm of the Sharp, which was the main reason I chose this Panasonic. The external dimensions however are smaller due to different fan technology. The Panasonic heat output from the fan must somehow escape to underneath the over for it is far warmer at the worktop than our old microwave. Good thing is Panasonic is 150W up on our old Sharp but other aspects not as convenient. The keyboard is difficult to Read in any light and the LED digital display is difficult to read during daylight hours. The lime colour of this display appears significant dimmer than Sharp's turquoise digit colouring and also fraction smaller. With the Sharp it defaults to microwave if you do not choose the function which is how we prefer a microwave to be because we all use this function more than any other. But Panasonic there is no default; you must select a function first even if you are choosing microwave. Why ? Why couldn't desinger put in microwave as default function. So far between our members of the family we have tried microwave (of course), grill, oven, combination oven & microwave, butt not combination grill yet. We are happy to report they work. 29 years on with cut backs, we don't get any laminated card "cheat-sheet" to remind us how to use the functions. The instruction booklet is not much better as font is too small and is in A5. Why not A4 ? Without the reminder cards, the booklet is already being covered with oily finger marks. The grill stand is flimzy. The revolving plate is made of glass. Must be due to cost that it is made of glass because when using oven and or grill whether with combination, the booklet warns you should use the metal tray. I presume one of the function of the tray is to absorb the top down heat from the grill heating element instead of the glass taking it all. This is why we have kept the ceramic revolving plate from the Sharp overn, which is especially useful for cooking pizzas. With or without this additional Sharp's ceramic plate, the revolving glass plate of the Panasonic quite often has a jerk motion as if it got stuck for half a second. It is a small matter to most people but I especially like the microwave being covered in white, which more matches out cream coloured kitchen. I particularly do not want a stainless steel coloured kitchen equipment as it reminds me too much of commercial galleys and kitchens I have to inspect on exploration crews. Externally it is easy to clean but the internal faces are less so, because, by necessity there are plenty of holes for grilling and for oven. Therefore it is imperative to use covering when using microwave to prevent the splashes getting inside the holes. In summary it is decent value but the keyboard and display just make the appliance difficult to use; we have learnt where the microwave + time setting buttons are but everything else we have to use a tourch with diffused light to play on their surface (& reflect off at just the right angle) to read them, (and having to bend down and be right close.
