Yes, you can certainly paint this material but paint in its turn is likely to come off as the butyl material itself is soft by nature.

Will it help with a drone from the exhaust

In order to get rid of exhaust drone noise (if there is aftermarket or just loud exhaust), you will need to install the material on the trunk, the floor of interior and the firewall. For better performance we also recommend putting 2 layers of the material. Please note that all our materials are to be installed from the interior side only. No engine bay installation is possible due to the temperature restrictions.

Does this product off gas when the doors are shut and its hot out?

Rest assured that Kilmat 50 mil doesn't off any gas when doors are shut and it's exposed to sun. The reason being is its temperature limits which are from -49 degrees Fahrenheit to +392 degreees Fahreneheit.
