Buy Chippewa. Buy America. Buy Quality.
Chippewa is an American Classic. Established in 1901 in Wisconsin, they've been around long enough to be boots your grand dad wore, and he sure was a badass, wasn't he? Let's face it. Without these boots, you may not be here. I found a pair of their boots on sale in a Burlington Coat Factory two years ago, and I never looked back. I've always been able to get good deals on their brand here on Amazon. Their products are built to last and are American Strong. I wear my boots every day, all day. Sure, like any shoe, they'll wear a bit over time. That's a badge of honor. I get compliments on my boots on a consistent basis. I try to maintain the leather with some inexpensive saddle soap every now and then. After all day use every day for years, I've had some of the laces break on me -- sure. Just buy some new laces. The sole wears out inside of the shoe after several months of constant use. No problem. I buy an American Made sole from Amazon, and I'm back in business. For me, I've always bought a Chippewa that was a half size bigger, because when I put a new, thicker sole in, it actually pushes my foot upward a little bit more towards the roof of the shoe. Allows my foot to breathe a little more. The size of the shoes are true to nature, and they feel great. They look good, and you'll not regret your decision. I've got two new pairs cooling in my closet for a rainy day (not literally). On that note, these ALSO have amazing traction in rain, rock, and pavement -- pretty much everywhere.By the way, other brands like Detroit and Timberland are nice and all, but you don't want nice, do you? You want rugged, hard-working, and manly. Confidence. Look no further.Just buy a pair already. Stop reading this review, and head west, young man!

Disappointed
I've been buying Chippewa for years and never had a problem until this pair. Only after a few months of wearing them the stitching on the heel came out. The break in the stitching allowed the sole to separate from the uppers and eventually fall off. After telling a few people I heard others had the same problem with the heel stitching. After 4 or 5 years from my disappointment with this pair I decided to another pair of Chippewa I liked them so much in the past. I chose to believe it was just a bad run with the manufacture. The new pair separated at the glued layer of the sole. I've come to the conclusion that since Chippewa brand had it's name bought by Justin brands, an international company several years ago the quality of materials and craftsmanship is longer worth the money they charge.

American made and a decent price.
Just got these. The materials are top notch and they are well put together. They are almost broken in after only a few days of wear. These are some good boots!

Great boots!
I got these to wear as motorcycle boots, and I love them. The leather is very sturdy, so expect a break in period. Now that I have broken mine in fully, they are comfortable and look great. I get a lot of compliments about them. I was initially hesitant because the sole was so thick, but I have gotten used to it, and it doesn't bother me at all. I also own red wings and danners, and I would rate the craftsmanship and quality of these boots close to, but slightly below them. The only reason I say that is because some of the cosmetic fit and finish is not quite as neat. They look a lot better in person than they do in the picture currently on Amazon!

Great quality boots HOWEVER..
Great real leather quality boots, however they are 1 pound heavier than what the description says. I ordered a size 9, for which weight was supposed to be 2.9lbs and they actually are 3.9lbs. That's not a minor difference. If you plan to walk with this boots, even small distances, and you are not used to heavy work boots don't buy these. I usually wear size 9 but I wouldn't have regreted it if I had ordered a medium size smaller. Boots are made enterely from leather, thats great and means quality, but also means they are not warm enough for winter. For the somewhat cold days they should be fine with some wool socks.

USA made, solid, casual boot.
The boots are great, just like loggers I have purchased from WPS. If you have not purchased Chippewa before:They are supposed to be stiff in the beginning, it is due to the quality of the leather and construction. It will break in over the course of several days and will then be very comfortable.I suggest putting some Sno-Seal on the boots if you will be walking through snow or in rain.I really like the brand. Before I wore basic work boots, all shipped in from overseas. The quality difference is astounding. To ID the boots from Chippewa that are USA made, look for the flag on the shoelaces. I have not tried the foreign-made Chippewa boots.

Chippewa 25290 sole stitch failure after 16 months
I hope this review will eventually have a happy ending. I bought these boots after a lot of careful consideration. My Redwing 877's had to go back to the factory after only a year and a half (another story of disappointment in a highly-acclaimed, stateside-made boot), and I needed some replacements in the meantime. I've really liked these boots; they're comfortable, easy to lace (compared to the Redwings), and the Vibram lug soles have held up much better than the Redwing crepes. However, last Monday as I was cleaning my Chippewas, I saw that the upper had torn away at the stitching from the sole from the heel to the vamp on the outside of the right boot. I've had these boots for less than a year and a half, and have not put a lot of strain on them. I contacted Chippewa by email; they are sending a FedEx label and paying shipping back to the factory to inspect the boots. If they feel that the problem is due to workmanship/materials, they will replace them. To Be Continued (Please see Comments for succeeding entries)
