I’ve been using the Olympus M.Zuiko Digital 1.4x Teleconverter MC‑14 with my M.Zuiko Digital ED 40‑150mm PRO F2.8 lens, and I’m thoroughly impressed by how well these two pieces of equipment complement each other. This combination is a game-changer for anyone who needs more reach without sacrificing too much image quality or portability. The MC‑14 is incredibly compact, considering the boost in focal length it provides. It feels solid, well-built, and weather-sealed—matching the ruggedness of the 40-150mm PRO lens. The autofocus performance also holds up remarkably well. The MC‑14 doesn’t slow down the focusing speed, and the lens continues to lock onto subjects quickly and accurately. This is a huge plus when shooting moving subjects like wildlife. One area where you might see a slight trade-off is in low-light conditions. The f/4 aperture at the long end doesn’t let in as much light as f/2.8, and while the in-body stabilization (IBIS) on my OM-5 does a fantastic job, you may need to adjust your settings or use a higher ISO in lower light. However, the teleconverter does a good job of preserving image clarity, and the slightly slower aperture is a small price to pay for the added reach. This combo has been incredibly versatile for me. I’ve used it for everything from wildlife and nature photography to landscape as well. The 1.4x teleconverter gives you a solid range of focal lengths that you can quickly adapt to, without needing to carry around a separate, heavier super-telephoto lens. If you’re like me and you want to travel light without sacrificing reach, this setup strikes a perfect balance. This is now my go-to set up for when I go abroad and want to reduce the weight in my luggage (I have the M.Zuiko Digital ED 150-600mm F5.0 which is great but too hefty to carry with limited baggage allowance). Turns my OM System 300mm F/4 IS Pro lens into a 420mm F/5.6 in Micro Four Thirds terms, or the approximate equivalent of 840mm F/5.6 in 35mm Full-Frame terms. That is a lot of zoom, and is incredible for distant wildlife. With this setup you can bring small, skittish creatures right into full, sharp focused clarity. I actually bought one before for the OM 100-400 F5.6-6.3 mk.I, sold it because I wasn't happy with the image quality degradation when I used it on that lens, but rebought it when I got the 300mm. You can make a case for it on the 100-400 (and people absolutely do get good results with it), but it feels like it's the missing piece on the 300.

Used the 1.4 converter with 300mm lens. This lens is already relatively heavy and long for an OM1 mark II but the converter did not worsen the balance appreciably and auto functions were not affected. Optically very good. The moon image was taken with the 300 mm lens plus converter. The image was cropped so that the moon fills the frame yet quality remains quite good. It is important to check that existing lenses are designed to be compatible with the converter before purchase because many are not.

I purchased this for the OM 90mm Macro lens, the extra distance you get is amazing, Dragonflies get ready. Update I have been using this with the 40-150mm f2.8 and can it delivers excellent sharp pictures, also auto focus is superb. Would recommend.

Excellent product tested on the Olympus 40-150 mm f2.8 pro lens with superb results, however Amazons next day delivery failed miserably not totally their fault item was despatched via Royal Mail guaranteed I.00pm delivery in the event it arrived a full day later also the packaging left a lot to be desired manufactures box placed inside a flimsy envelope box arrived slightly crushed but thankfully no damage to the item. Amazon please take note!

product works well with the 300mm lense, still sharp for birdwatching.

i have not treid this one out yet but i do already have the 2 times convertor and thats good. it was not easy to get hold of the 1.4 convertor. the build is great and they use good glass in it. value for money, i would say its still a bit pricey but it all depends on what you want it for. buy it and use it and get the most out of it then its a bargain

I've read Robin Wong's review of this teleconverter then decided to buy one for my Olympus 40-150mm F2.8 lens, but found it out of stock everywhere in Hong Kong, then realized I could actually use my Amazon account to purchase it in Amazon Japan. Luckily I found it was available in Amazon Japan, and the price was very reasonable! Then I bought it immediately and got my lens in 7 days, very good service and fast shipping! Amazon Japan used DHL to ship it from Japan to Hong Kong and it took only 24 hours to arrive Hong Kong! Now I am enjoying taking photos with this lens and thanks to Amazon Japan for their great service and super-fast handling and shipping. I will definitely come back again to search and buy any products I need to buy in Japan!

Perfect for 40-150 mZuiko 2.8mm lens. Drops aperture to 4.0 but still sharp pictures. Bought it on a on amazon through their Japan store for less than half retail price. Keep checking price as price fluctuates a lot.

Excellent. I thought I was buying refurbished because of the price. It was sent from Amazon Japan. Brand new in box and with pouch. I believe it took like two months, but well worth the wait. Excellent price, and brand new. I don’t believe one would need to buy this type of adapter with warranty, which this one does not have, as it is an import. Buy it !
