Fantastic Game. If only it had been longer.

It's a fun game, but...
It's certainly a good game but Soulcalibur just hasn't been as good since the PS2 days. The games lately have been pretty bare bones with not much in the way of a campaign. If you just love the fighting aspect then it's still great and absolutely worth getting. I have all the games and am glad to have them, but just don't expect a fleshed out story.

Brand New Packaging came in undamaged.
There are no cons it is a good game, far different from previous titles however, very new fighting systems and move sets. The character creation has a lot of nostalgia especially if you have played SC 3, though alot of the character creation items are literally models from SC 3 it does feel lazy and hasty as the polygons are almost exactly the same. Texture just seem a little refined. You can use the clothing from the main fighters and it seems they too have been designed straight from the character creation so kudos to the developers for making that the main focus. The game came in in brand new packaging, no damage to the disc or the game box at all. The game runs beautifully and excellently, I have no complaints this product was a well earned and successful purchase!

Transcending History!
I've been a long-time Soul Calibur fan, and 6 is amazing! It's so very balanced, more balanced than past games. It's definitely worth a purchase if you are a fan! I think it's worth 60, but it's already selling for 35 for Black Friday/Cyber Monday, so definitely worth it at that price. To the critics: yes, the game seems light (no cut scenes and less characters than previous games), but I think it cut down the bloat characters and plus the series was almost canceled so they had a very small budget to work with. Still, a ton here. Story for every character. Arcade mode. Create a character (which will gain more items as the game gets support), and the rpg like mode for your created character. If you liked Soul Calibur in the past, you won't be disappointed... And if you want Soul Calibur to continue, support the team who created it!

Best in the series
Anyone who played and loved SC2 is gonna feel right at home here. Cant say Critical Edge, and Reversal Edge are my favorite mechanics, but they are fun for casuals with friends. Honestly the most fun I've had since SC2, and is way more polished and balanced than any other game in the SC series. I totally get where this is getting hits on the DLC characters, but these other reviews showing 1 star are just absurd. You cant say "yeah the game is fun, but I'm giving it 1 star because it has DLC." That's insane... Throwing day 1 Tira as a $6 character is a little bogus, but like Bamco said, this is their last chance to make a Soul Calibur that sells well; so they needes to make some extra money to show a new SC could be worth making sequels for! So I bought the basic game, and the season pass for $30. Not that bad, if you ask me. I also bought the 2 season passes for Tekken, so shoot me for loving fighting games. I'm happy to support the SC series, and to that person who said "you gotta pay $80 more dollars for the full game." You're a liar, and deceiving customers. Stop ✋ Season pass is $30, so if you want the full roster, you'll end up paying $6 per character. Three characters in the season comes to $18. The extra $12 goes into item packs and (hopefully) new stages! (But you can just buy the DLC individually and pick what exactly you want to pay for. Tl;dr: if you've enjoyed past Soul Calibur games, you'll have a blast with this one. If You're having doubts, check out Avoiding The Puddle on twitch/YouTube. He has some of the funniest commentary, and some awesome gameplay tutorials for SC. Enjoy!

Better than SC2
I almost didn't get around to playing on the first day because it was so much fun making custom people! There are skeletons, elves, figma androids, and plenty of other choices to start off with before you turn it into something completely different. Eventually I got around to starting story mode and I was surprised they adopted a visual novel-style delivery system for the corny but charming story, which was a welcome addition since it means there's a lot of concept art to be unlocked. There's also a story mode specifically for your OC character. As far as the merit as a fighting game goes? This keeps with the series' strong point of using a weapon-based combat system to maintain play-style variety between characters. Ivy, Voldo, Mitsurugi, and Astaroth all control VERY differently so each time you pick someone up it's a whole new ball game. There's a very low skill floor and a mid-high skill ceiling so you can play online without being too intimidated.

Unpolished, but has potential
I was looking forward to this game for a long time. Unfortunately it seems to fall short. The actual fighting part of the game is pretty good, but not perfect. My biggest problem is the game doesn't draw me to play it for very long, and there are big conceptual problems with the various game menus in my opinion. For example, after beating arcade mode, you are only given two options: Restart from Beginning or Return to Main Menu (restart with the same character or exit arcade mode). Where is the option to return to character selection screen (continue arcade mode with a different character)? If you want to continue in arcade mode, you need to exit to main menu, then restart arcade mode. Why? The main menu when the game starts up is super boring drab colors. Why? The menus should be fun and make you want to play the various modes. Character selection screens are different depending on which mode you are playing. Why? In arcade mode, you select your character with a static "card" picture that is like a artsy drawing of the character and does not represent the character accurately. All the character selection screens should be the same regardless of the mode you are playing. Who wants static character cards instead of a more interesting character representation. All character customization (whether a a brand created new character or an existing character using customized clothes or equipment) is selected in the same customized character on the same character selection screen. For example instead of selecting Malik and then selecting if he is wearing standart or customized equipment, you select a generic customized character then select customized Malik, or Talim, or Sophitia, or whoever you have created all grouped together. Doesn't really make sense to me, and discourages using customized equipment. Its kind of illogical I would think for most people. There is no menu to view character play history (wins/losses, etc) with the exception of ranked matches. This is kind of standard for fighting games. Don't the other arcade, casual matches, non-ranked online matches matter in this game? I usually like to view these details so I can see which characters I use the most, and which characters I should spend more time on. There needs to be perks, whether it be equipment unlocks (there is minimal), player history records, etc to make me want to play a game. This game sadly doesn't really reward the player for playing the game very much. I could care less about unlocking conceptual art. Maybe its a nice bonus for some, but hardly makes me want to play if the only thing I get rewarded with is conceptual art. I personally have little problem with the price or the DLC others complain about. Sure it would be nice if the DLC was free, but it is not mandatory to purchase. Can complain all you want but its not going to change the facts.

Love this game
For me it's the best fighting game. The story game could be better, but the characters, fighting, control and graphics are just brilliant. Best of all though is the character editing and creation. Totally badass brilliant.
