I used two layers of this for a throw sized quilt. I ice dyed the quilt top and wanted extra loft and texture. It delivered plenty of texture, even though I quilted fairly tightly. It is for a woman who is always cold. This keeps her warm but isn't bulky. Wool also retains its insulative properties when it gets wet, so I like to use it for baby quilts, which may become wet while baby still needs to be warm. Even with the batting doubled, it came out soft and drapeable. The batting's finish is smooth and very consistent. I found no slubs or organic materials imbedded. I used it on a longarm quilter. It was a little on the thick side but gave the machine no trouble. I also tried a 10 between quilting needle in it for the sake of the review, and it would be a dream to hand quilt. It's very smooth. No drag. I will buy this in the future when I need wool batting.

Appropriate use would be batting . I am a textile artist and have been working with wool for many years. This had a different feel than my own wool prefelts but I thought I'd wet felt with it anyway, trusting the "100% PURE WOOL PRE FELT " product description. This product is NOT wool. It most definitely did not felt. At All. Did not shrink a single nanometer and after hours of rolling, it stretched and broke apart under its own saturated weight. A burn test verified that this product is not wool. Returning.

Batting is okay, a bit stiff for a blanket type quilt. Would be great for a wall hanging or a felted project.
