duraflame Electric Log Set Heater

Wow! For an electric fireplace, this thing is pretty slick. I have done a ton of research because I am really picky about the flame looking as realistic as possible. The appearance of the flames comes from a projection that reflects off of whatever surface is behind the unit. The flames are adjustable mechanically, but can further be adjusted to your liking by moving the unit closer to or farther away from the reflective surface behind it. I feel like this flame is fairly realistic, especially as compared to most other electric fireplaces on the market. The Dimplex company does makes a great looking product, but for 1/3 of the price, this log set by duraflame is a solid option and a great buy! Furthermore, the logs themselves are very nice. It looks pretty decent, even when it is turned off. It is very quiet while just having the flame effect on. The heater generates a small fan noise, but no more than any other electric heater or a blower on a real fireplace would. I did not find noise to be an issue. It does not make any crackling fire sounds, but you can buy a crackle box to add to it if that is important to you. The Comfort Smart crackle box does a decent job of this. I have not tried out the heater too much, as I have just unpacked it and it's currently just sitting on the carpet. I had it on for a few minutes and it seemed to blow out some pretty decent heat! It did get quite hot, so I would not recommend using it without some sort of heat barrier. It is meant to be used inside an existing fireplace. I will work on adding a video :) Hope this helps!!

Compared to other retail sites, the price for which Amazon has this unit is a steal. (It is offered at numerous other big box retail stores under different brand names, but the model number will be the same.) Got it yesterday, plugged it in, and voila! Instant ambience! We have a wood burning fireplace, and we do use it. But sometimes, you think about a fire too late in the evening as a person doesn't want to go to bed leaving a fire going, so this will fit the bill nicely. And when we do want a real fire, it can be removed instantly. The one thing I wanted to address is the bronze color. I was hesitant to order this and kept looking at the same unit offered elsewhere that featured a black grate, as the black is what I thought I wanted. Because the price was so good on this and photos featured in the reviews made it look like a dark bronze, I ordered it, and couldn't be happier. The bronze is so dark that it almost looks black, and in the fireplace, it DOES look black. So glad I ordered it for this price! The cord: It's short (6 ft), but if you get a minimum 14 gauge extension cord, you should be fine. This is the one I would recommend: Tripp Lite Heavy-Duty Power Extension Cord 15A, 14AWG (NEMA 5-15P to NEMA 5-15R) 6-ft.(P024-006) . It is available in different lengths. The noise and amount of heat: With just the flames going, it makes very little noise...practically none. With the heater going, it does have fan noise similar to any small heater you would buy that features a fan. This does not put off heat like a real fire would, and I would compare the heat of the unit to be the temperature of a regular fan heater set on low or medium. So, at best...this unit would be good to take the chill off of a room, which is another reason we wanted it. Even with our furnace set at 68, on particularly cold nights, our living room can sometimes have a bit of chill to it, and we look for this to quickly and easily make the room a bit more comfortable. I will attach a video showing the logs on high on a grey, cloudy morning. (I have a wrought iron fireplace screen over the opening.) I have the heater on, as well, so you can hear the amount of noise it makes. We have a pretty large fireplace opening, and we have the unit placed directly over the ash dump, which is the perfect place for maximum projection on the back wall. The logs can be moved to change the amount of projection making it work well for all sized fireplaces.

I love this! It's free standing, so no glass front. The " flames" flicker from behind and look so cool! The logs shift lighting so it looks real! The heater is good! It gives great heat and is easy to adjust. I was replacing an old one and couldn't find the right size when I saw this one. This is making me happy on a dreary spring day!

An acceptable insert if you can't afford a new gas Firefox. Our old woodbuning fireplace is damaged and useless. Eventually we'll get a gas insert but until we can afford that, this is a nice alternative. It does not look as realistic as the one in our bedroom cabinet, but it's much better than a cold, empty, fireplace. It puts out a lot of heat when needed/wanted. We trust the Duraflame name but I think the cheaper options may be just as good. The flame settings are not great imo, and we're only using the highest one. The undulating feature is unrealistic. The whole "log pile" brightness goes up and down rather than flickering in different spots like a real fire. I created a video to show the difference between this and our cabinet unit. I honestly dont think any of the others i considered in this price point are any better so we won't return it. For now, it's ok. It does not include a sound box, but Alexa has some decent crackling fire sounds if you have one near the faux fire.

Absolutely love love love this fireplace! Has the most realistic flames of anyone I have ordered and I have ordered several different brands and different sizes within those brands. Although there is a crackle sound in my video this does not come with that sound. I ordered a crackle box on Amazon as recommended by a different reviewer and it is a fantastic little device as well. It comes with a remote. You can also increase or decrease the flames and of course it has a remote for the heat which also can be increased or decreased on a timer/thermostat. It works really well. I don’t typically keep it on for very long since my place is small. It will run me right out of here… My cat definitely loves it.

My fireplace was the only thing in my home that required gas. The switch on the wall would turn it on. One day u went to flip and it would no longer work. It was going to cost thousands to replace PLUS I had to keep gas in an outdoor propane tank just for it. I took the logs out that were in it, set this baby up and now I have the fireplace glow and a fair amount of heat. It WILL NOT heat up an entire living room area by any means however, you can stand in front of it and get some heat as well as it does minimally help to heat the room. Love the remote, should have included that, and though I could not put my glass cover back on the fireplace because, the heater would turn off (blocked the fan), I can put it back on in the summertime and keep the fireplace glow all year long which is especially therapeutic for me.

How much you like this will be directly related to what you are purchasing this for. It's awesome as an alternative to a wood fire in your fireplace. So if fire effect is what you are after, go for it. Of course, right up on it, no one's going to think you have a real fire going. But it is beautiful nonetheless. I was especially impressed by the fake flame effect that is created by casting a reflection off lights on the back of the unit onto the back of the fireplace or wall you have this unit set next to. That part is fairly realistic. I wish it had a switch that would make a crackling fire sound when it was turned on. When you are running the heater, you can hear the fan blower. It's not obnoxious. It won't interfere with TV, music, or conversation. I just thought I'd let you know it does make a sound. It's actually relaxing as it is a soft "white noise" sound. Now to the heater. This is no powerhouse. I thought it would throw off a bit more heat. It's warm and I'm sure it will be okay as a heat source to supplement my homes electric heat. That said, I won't be adjusting the thermostat in the house down any as I thought I might be able to. To be fair, the square foot area it covers and BTUS are stated in the product description. I just imagined I would feel more warmth coming from the unit when I am up close to it. I am sitting on the couch close to it and I do notice some heat. But it's not HOT like some heaters are, if that makes sense. It's more of a blower type of heater than radiant heater. I also wish there were clear temperature markings on the temperature control. It's just a dial that you dial from low to high with no marks in between. Also, I wish that the icons were more clear as to their purpose. I'm sure I will learn. But, I have to think about what button I'm pushing on the remote to do what. For instance, I keep hitting the button that adjusts the intensity of the flame when I really want to turn the heat on or off. All in all, I would say it's a great fake fire and an okay heater.

We decommissioned the fireplace, and this allows us to enjoy a surprisingly realistic looking flame effect. During the winter it adds a lot of charm and a cozy feeling. I don't use the heater, so I can't comment on that. There is a motor which creates the flickering effect, and it is loud enough to be a distraction in a quiet room. Setting up a speaker with a cracking fire noise is enough to mask it. I can't say whether the noise level compares well against similar products.

El producto es bueno, se ve genial, da un aspecto cálido y realista (dentro de lo que cabe), se pueden encender las luces de adorno sin encender el calentador y en cuanto se necesita se enciende el calefactor, no hay mucha diferencia entre los cambios de luces de y el calefactor se queda corto para un espacio de 4x5 m.
