Worth the Risk - Great Investment
We were in need of a more powerful generator for our newly purchased off grid cabin. We were of course told to go with Honda for quiet operations and efficiencies, but after purchasing the cabin, we only had a limited amount of funds available. Needed to make our investment really pay off. Boy did it ever! After some research, we began to understand that WEN is a very reputable company in this space. After frankly, after seeing a YouTube video showing how this generator can be used for whole house backup, we were sold! So first things first, since we were using this for off grid power through a fully code compliant panel, you will want to UNBOND this generator, placing it into floating neutral. A very easy process and something we learned along the way. We also love the idea of dual fuel options. We will eventually be installing larger, more powerful solar solutions, but for now, needed a way to keep cabin alive. We do have a gas caddy and adequate supply, but that does add up in terms of cost over the weekends. However, using a 40lb propane tank at around $15.00 filled for two (2) full weekends, that was outstanding. Very efficient, and we are capable of running in Eco Mode during the evening and early morning hours. Speaking of Eco Mode, this genny is very quiet. Yes, you do hear it throughout the cabin but move about 100 yards away and the sound fades almost all away. Great for hunting and general game watching activities. Also has no issues running our water pump, which was the main reason we needed to more powerful device when the weather is colder and does not run as efficiently in terms of power production. Yes, this item is heavy. Our use is essentially in a stationary position only moving in and out of the crawl space below the cabin. However, you can easily use this for portable operations with stronger individuals and certainly an able-bodied couple. All in all, extremely satisfied with this product and glad we took the risk of purchasing this brand. Just goes to show, do your research and don't be afraid to make decisions based upon your needs. Be wary of influencers or paid shives who don't give you the facts. This is an awesome device, and I would certainly not only recommend it, but also purchase it again! BTW, the only reason we keep pushing solar is not only "free" energy, but also the peace and quiet. But when working and living off grid, you have to do what you have to do given different situations.

Works great
Haven't used it much yet but it works really well. Love the electric start feature! Easy to set-up, all you have to do is plug in the battery and add oil. Pretty quiet too. Only 2 things I wish it had: 1. Should be a connector to trickle-charge the battery easily so it's always ready 2. If you switch to 240V to hook up to your house, the 120V outlets don't work. Not that big of a deal, but if you want to enclose this in a little shed and have a fan running for exhaust, it would need to be plugged into a house outlet and not the generator itself.

Great buy!
Takes a little getting used to for the start-up. Worked like a charm with our inflatable event, DJ Equipment, LED tables and LED lights inside the inflatable. Great so far!

Stopped working. No response from customer service.
I purchased the Wen 6800w generator two months ago with high hopes. It worked well for a couple weeks but then the 240 watt outlet stopped functioning. It was so new when it stopped working I hadn't even removed the plastic film from the rubber gaskets. I've reached out to Wen customer service multiple times since then and have not received a single response. I need the generator to operate the well on my property, but now it's useless without that outlet. At this point I'm wishing I bought the comparable (and comparably priced) Craftsman generator from a local retailer rather than taking a chance on an off-brand. The Wen is a nice looking generator, but I definitely don't recommend it. Save your money and buy something that'll last longer than a few weeks - hopefully from a brand that has customer service who stands by the products they sell.

Great Inverter. Recommend highly.
Very nice inverter. I was looking for a generator to power my fifth wheel. Wanted an inverter. Wanted to run both AC's. bought the WEN 6800-Watt Dual Fuel RV-Ready Electric Start Portable Inverter Generator with Fuel Shut Off . Nephew recommended WEN and I have been very pleased. I have around 30 hours on it, all running on propane. I don't think I will put gas in it. electric start, not remote, works great. I have lifted it in my bed of my truck but its not for the weak. It is short enough that it does not interfer with the fifth wheel. Dual fuel. Quiet. Love it.

Perfect for GenerLink – No Ground Mods Needed, Half as Loud as My Old Gen
I don’t usually write reviews, but I spent hours researching this generator and could not find anything definitive about my setup. So I’m hoping this helps someone like all the real Amazon reviews helped me. I live in Michigan and the power goes out about twice a year. I’ve used a regular generator for years, but I got tired of dragging extension cords through the house. I started looking into better options last year. My wife vetoed my original pick—thankfully—because this newer WEN DF680iX is exactly what I needed. It has a 30-amp 120/240V outlet and works perfectly with my GenerLink MA23-S. That model has a switched neutral, so I didn’t have to modify the generator or float the ground. I just plugged it in and it powered the house as expected—huge relief after all the conflicting info out there. The generator arrived in good condition. After connecting the battery terminals and adding oil, it started right up—one choke cycle, then switched to run and fired up smoothly. I’m currently in the break-in period, running it at about 50% load for the first 8 hours, then switching to full synthetic oil for long-term use (likely Mobil 1 or Pennzoil Ultra). I’ll then test it under full load as the manual recommends to verify its limits and reliability. One thing I immediately noticed: this unit is about half as loud as my old generator. It’s still a generator, but it’s far more manageable for nighttime or neighborhood use. As for fuel efficiency, I can’t fully speak on that yet—but I’ll update the review once I’ve put more hours on it and tested longer runtimes. The generator is heavy, but manageable. I’m 5’11”, 200 lbs and can move it alone. The built-in handle makes it much easier to roll. For the power and features, $780 feels like a steal, especially with the 3-year warranty. So far, it has exceeded my expectations. And best of all—no more extension cords during outages. Just plug into the GenerLink and keep life moving. There’s a saying: “Two is one and one is none.” This generator is my new “one”—and it’s built like it’s ready to be the backup that never fails. Hope this helps the next person like me looking for solid info. Only 1 con, and the reason this isn’t a full 5-star review: There’s no fuel level indicator. My older (and cheaper) generator had one, and it made it much easier to track usage during long runs or outages. It’s a small thing, but one worth noting—especially for anyone used to monitoring fuel levels on the fly. Update** 04-06-25 Fuel indicator is on device on. Uploaded photo to show where it is. Going to leave 4 star until I throughly test it though. As of now I love it!

Outstanding product, but the customer service is the real star!
Excellent generator. Quiet, easy to start, and smooth running. But the real standout is the customer service. My generator wouldn't draw from a propane tank (gas worked fine). WEN's support team walked me through troubleshooting, sent a replacement regulator, and when that didn't resolve it, arranged a full replacement. That kind of customer service is rare. They've earned a customer for life. Great product, even better service. Definitely recommend.

It ran both A/C 's 15,000 BTU
I was really surprised by this Generator. I dont normally do reviews, however, due to the size of my fith wheel and the fact that my 4th wheel is wired for 50 amp i want others to know. So not only did this Generator run both my Ac's it also ran the exhaust fan for my stove and pretty much all my lights. I am still in the experimental phase and what this Generator can run. Nevertheless, it has met my expectations; Especially for the fact that I was running it on the 30 amp supply plug. I thought for sure I would be maxed out. Using my 50 amp supply power cord i ran it out approximately 25 ft. And hooked up the propane. Oh yes by the way I ran everything on propane which is supposed to be less efficient. Did not try gasoline, even though thats a better option for dual fuel generators. Nonetheless, the Generator was pretty quiet from 25 feet away running both AC,s. You could here the Generator but it wasn't bad. When I was able to run the Generator on eco mode, you could really tell the difference. Over time the Generator start up was easy. As the green button flashed I could walk away from the Generator and setup camp while it would start on its on. I did find a quieter Generator that was running in our campground. It was a Honda and it was powering a very small size class B. From looking online the Generator ran between $3k-7k. I couldn't see the wattge of the Honda Generator but the 2300 watt. Starts at $3k. After realizing the price of the Honda generator I was really happy with the purchase. Now the negative: The reason why I didn't want a 50 amp generator is because they are so big and heavy. The wen 6800 was much smaller than a 50 amp. For whatever reasons I couldn't get the wen to fit in my under pass through storage compartment. The bottom stabilizers kept catching on the vinyl insulation and getting caught. If you dont have that vinyl insert then you will probably be OK. Instead I had to put it in the back of my truck. So getting it up in the truck can be an issue. I am just going to have to stay in shape! I an not sure if I want to store the Generator in the very back due to weight issues or tolerances. In conclusion I am very happy with the Wen 6800. My wife was thrilled how quitting was. We are glad of the purchase Also, WEN is an American company. The company was founded in 1951 and is headquartered in West Dundee, Illinois.
