Lingo TravelMate Translator (TR-1650)

I love to carry this device with me, especially when I know I might encounter someone who might speak a language I am interested in, and I am interested in quite a few. My only complaints are that the battery wears out too soon, and there aren't as many definitions of words as I would have like to see.

Very poor and please don't waste your money. Very cumbersome to use, slow and limited vocabulary, batteries went dead within a few months and it stopped working within a year. As an engineer I'm into "failure analysis", so I dissected it to try and repair or determine reason for failure, VERY CHEAP components on circuit boards, poor quality of solder, obviously made in China or some other slave labor environment.Spend extra money and buy a good quality, or as I did, buy a language app for your smartphone!!!

This translator should have been a comprehensive dictionary of words of a given language. Many critical words to help one translate signs, menus, and the language are missing. In fact, many needed words are missing. This is a half-hearted effort to sell a product. It would have been much better if they would have chosen fewer languages with a full dictionary of words instead of a scattered selection of words with a few phrases thrown in.

It does what is states but is TOO limited per language. Not intuitive. I don't find the phrases I'm needing with this one.The dictionary is too limited - does not give all meaning of English words to pick the right foreign word.Android free APs were better. I went another route after getting this.

it was helpful learning words that were basic for everyday greetings and food.

haven't used this product yet for our pending trip but have been practicing and getting used to it. Seems like it will be great and is all it was advertised as. DO not know the battery life at this point...

Received - 3/8/06Died - 3/10/06In between. - I was using it for German. The vocabulary is is small despite the ad claims. It only has the root words. It would be much better to have it do one language well than 16 poorly. Obviously, it would have better if it worked more than 2 days too.

I got this for my dad and it wasn't that good. It knows how to translate "Thank you" but it can't translate "You're welcome" so that was pretty lame. It needs a revision and then it could be more useful.
