Packed to the hilt!
I purchased this to use with my 8th grade class as we delved into Edith Hamilton's collection of mythology. On the whole, I'm pleased with the book. It has many activities - more then I will be able to even use with my unit. The activities are divided into skills by chapter. For instance, chapter two focuses on characterization, chapter 9 on the epic hero, etc. There are two areas that I wish were improved for my personal use: pre-reading activities and assessments. The pre-reading activities put the book into context, but I found that I needed to add a lot more filler; they studied ancient civilizations in 6th grade, so I had to activate prior knowledge from two years ago and supplement it. It was a good review for myself - not being a history teacher, but beware of the extra planning time. Also, I would have wished for a cumulative assessment. There are project and activity ideas in the end, but no pre-written "test" to give students to assess recall or comprehension. Another positive note for this activity pack is the layout. It is set up like a side-by-side book. The teacher pages are always on the left, the student pages are always on the right. Plus, the student pages include the focus and a written objective for each activity - a huge plus for me with the push to always display objectives on the board and discuss them with students. If you are planning a mythology unit and using Edith Hamilton as your collection of choice, I would highly recommend purchasing this activity pack to supplement your daily activities and provide enrichment.

Quite used indeed
It had a lot of damage, creases, & Dogs Ears, but still easily readable. As for the writing style, well, it can be a bit slow. It would be good for a professor or those studying Mythology, but for young adults (& the young at heart), it has no allures like pictures or special pages and such. Still a decent read for gathering information. Thanks!

Despite mixed reviews saying theirs came damaged or in used condition, I took my chances and it arrived fast and is in great, brand new condition! Happy with the purchase!

The book was a good quality book just didn't go into depth to much, It would be fine for a lot of people, I wanted the complete story of the Greek war with Troy told in detail so it just didn't work for me.
