Worth every penny
I'm 40 and had never watched FRIENDS until a year ago on HBO MAX. I mean I had seen a few episodes here and there as a teenager because my best friend's parents were obsessed with it and never missed an episode but that's it. I was one of those teenagers who was against anything super popular and mainstream (why? No idea. I think that was just a 90s "cool" thing?). My husband was the same way and had actually never seen a single episode. WELL, boy were we missing out! We both were absolutely hooked pretty much from the very first episode to the very last. When I decided to watch the series for a second time I didn't want to deal with commercials so I went ahead and splurged on this box set. I'm so glad I did. I'm currently on my 4th rewatch and it's now my all time favorite sitcom. Every character is so funny and so lovable, this show makes me laugh even when I'm in the worst of moods. It's also the only sitcom I have ever seen that is perfect from the very first season. I find most sitcoms to be pretty cringe worthy during at least the first half of the first season but not with FRIENDS. If you thought you were too cool to watch it (like I did when it was originally on the air) then think again and give it a shot. You'll probably love it (I mean the fashion and nostalgia of the 90s and early 2000s alone makes me really happy) I'm so happy I gave it a chance! About time.

Review of the 4K Ultra HD release
Dang, 190$ bones was a lot to drop on a set of a TV show that isn't even my favorite, but i love Matthew Perry and Matt LeBlanc. I didn't own the show yet so i decided to go whole hog on it and i am glad i did. This is not a review of the show but the quality of the 4K release, specifically. To start off, the actual packaging is delightfully slimmed down so two seasons are in each separate case and it is so much better this way to reduce clutter. There is a separate standard blu ray case with two full discs of additional bonus features, and an included booklet with an episode listing for all the discs and chapters for the bonus discs. Now for the real wow part to me-the video quality of the show itself. It does not use DolbyVision, however, they are in HDR and i must say, for a relatively older show, WB clearly gave love to one of their most popular series. The colors and sharpness even in the early seasons are instantly noticeable and gorgeous! Fantastic job, i must say, as a techy kind of guy who has a large physical media collection, this is one of the best looking TV shows out there, even going against something newer like Better Call Saul. The other wonderful part of this set, is that unlike a lot of 4K discs, you can stop this, turn off the player, and come back to it later. It instantly pops up with a "Resume where you left off" button! Yay! No trying to fast forward to where i was before. Great stuff.Ultimately, if you are a Friends fan, this is the best possible set for you but that price is kind of ridiculous, even though it is well made. Also, if you already own the DVDs or Blu Ray releases, this becomes less palatable. It really is a beautiful release though.

Friends Complete Series in 4K, Missing Disc 3 of Season 9
This Review is for Friends Complete Series in 4K:Friends Complete Series in 4K is pretty good, but for some strange reason my set was missing Disc 3 of Season 9! There were actually two copies of Disc 2 of Season 9 and both had the episodes that one would expect with Disc 2 on them!My other complaint was that the holders for the discs aren't very good, and it was hard to solidly put the discs back into the the disc holders! In fact many of the discs were loose inside the disc holders, because the center holders don't grip the center of the discs strong enough that they keep on becoming loose!Other than that for the most part the colors and sound of each episode are very good! I had the complete Blu-ray series, but I never opened it up so I couldn't make a proper comparison of the 4K versus the Blu-rays, as I ended up giving the Blu-rays away as a gift after upgrading to the 4K complete series. The oddest thing I found with the restoration and up-conversion of the video portion of the 4K's is typically as a separation between each act and the start of each disc are images of the city of New York or the supposed exterior of the buildings where the Friends live. These openings appear not to be up-converted to 4K resolution, appearing to be only 480p at best. Why Warner Bros. didn't do a complete restoration of these parts of each episode confounds me! I also found in some of the earliest seasons including the Pilot episode that some of the background was more in focus than the actual Friends' characters. There's one scene where an ornate green metal support of Central Perk is more in focus than the Friends' characters sitting on the couch, which is the foreground of the scene, not the background, which this green pole is! I found this very odd!I will have to go back to the original complete series DVD's to see if the same problem exists some day...One thing I have to compliment Warner Bros. is the placement of each tab for each act, the opening title sequence and the end. One can quickly tab to the beginning of each title sequence, many of which varied within a season, the end of the title sequence, between both acts and the end sequence. The tabs were perfectly setup!Sometimes I have found the tabs of other shows arranged in weird places like eight minute into an episode instead of right after the title sequence, which cause a person to either to fast forward from the beginning to get to the end of the title sequence of rewind even further back from the first tab.Other than that, as I previously wrote the colors and audio are very good and worth the upgrade to 4K in my opinion despite the few shortcomings I found with the disc holders and having two copies of Disc 2 from Season 9!PS. As of writing this I've not watched the Blu-ray disc with the Special Features...
