If you need it, it’s worth it.
This is the first splint I was told to get by the orthopedic doctor I saw after an injury. Of course, wearing one of these isn’t going to be a 5 star experience, but I was thankful to have it. It is very well made. The Velcro is strong, and didn’t wear out quickly like some has a tendency to do. It’s easy to get on and off with one hand, so a second person isn’t needed, and it was as comfortable as something like this is going to be. It kept my wrist and thumb immobilized, which is what I needed at the time. It was MUCH more economical to get this here than from the office.

Helps a lot plus is exactly the same as what orthopedic Dr. ordered
As to whether this item helped me: 1) I had a LOT of fairly severe pain in my hand, particularly in the thumb & wrist. I couldn't do anything with my hand that required use of the thumb to support/balance/grasp. 2) Official X-ray diagnosis: Degenerative changes of the triscaphe joint (scaphotrapeziotrapezoid) and first carpometacarpal joint -- basically, the joints in the wrist at the base of the thumb) 3) after trying various drugstore hand/wrist/thumb splints before seeing the doctor, the splint that the ortho gave me made the biggest difference: it didn't make the problem go away, but when I wore the splint most of the day, I would have some pain now and then when I used my hand a certain way, but it didn't linger most of the day like it did before using the splint. Believe me, that's a huge improvement! I do wear it most of the day except for when I'm washing dishes or doing something where it just gets in the way ... and I must say, my pain level is reduced significantly. It does cause just a bit of a coordination issue, but in all fairness, it's no worse than being without out the brace where pain/stiffness would cause the same awkwardness. The difference is that by wearing it all day, these moments are much shorter-lived as opposed to when I'm not wearing the splint, one painful episode just merges into the next and the pain just goes on and on all day. THAT SAID ... that was about the splint that the doctor gave me. Since I wore it most of the day/every day, I needed a 2nd one so that I've something to use while I washed/dried the other one. This one on Amazon looked like the same thing. And I am here to confirm that it appears to be EXACTLY the same as what the doctor gave me. Examining/comparing the two (and their associated product literature packets), the ONLY difference I can spot is that the number "DS7410721" is printed on the tag of the one I got from the doctor and the number "DS741022" is printed on the tag of this AMAZON item. Other than that, after careful scurtiny, I see absolutely NO DIFFERENCE.

Exact thing they give you at Urgent Care
I went to MDNow for extreme wrist strain. And they gave me two pairs of these, unfortunately one of them was no working and I didn’t want to pay $200+ just for another one. I kid you not these are the EXACT ones they give. Super comfortable, fits my hands perfectly, and after a week of wearing them my wrist are back to normal. Totally worth the price.

It works, but it's bulky.
Pros: the metal bar in the splint really helps to limit the range of motion. The thumb is isolated, so if you are having issues with your thumb, this splint might help, depending on how limited you want it. (Read cons about this.) The straps being velcro allow you to adjust the tightness. Cons: It's pretty bulky and goes halfway up my forearm. The thumb isolater straps need to be pretty tight in order to really limit the range of motion, so much so that my thumb would often go numb and I would have to loosen them. Overall, I would buy it again if needed. It prevents movement of the wrist effectively. If I was looking solely for something to isolate my thumb, however, I might look elsewhere.

Amazing brace!
Literally the only bad thing I would say about this brace is that I don’t have a great range of motion but that’s kind of the part of the brace. This is absolutely amazing. I’ve been looking for this brace everywhere. This is identical to the brace that the orthopedic doctor prescribed me. Extremely supportive and much larger than I can find anything else so it fits snug but not too snug. I lost it in a move and was very disappointed because it’s the best support for bone damage that I have in my right wrist. The one from the ortho cost $50 and I didn’t want to spend that again so this is a great value for the money. So thankful for this brace! Highly recommend 10/10

Seam on thumb hurts
Yes I marked it way down because the seam on the thumb hurts my thumb cuticle... Hard to wear... Hopefully the other doesn't come in the same way. It's cherry other than that but it's hard to wear.

excellent quality, fantastic brace
I've bought and ordered over 50 different braces over the years for bursitis, tendinitis, carpal tunnel and fibromyalgia. This brace works the best I've ever had. It has the perfect amount of stiffness to cause movement restriction in the hand and arm, it snugs tightly, the thumb stabalizer actually fits my thumb and snugs fairly tightly to help my arm, hand and wrist rest after work and through the night. I wake up able to move in the morning and I don't have to wear my day hand brace as often. I will be ordering another to have on hand if something happens to this one. Excellent quality brace and does a fantastic job helping to ease my pain that shoots from my shoulder to my finger tips
