Nice weight and look to the sword. Balance point was in the right spot. Just be careful extending it. If there is too much force, the last two segments of the sword will get stuck and won't collapse. I had to take a rubber mallet to mine to close it.

I ordered this for my daughter for Christmas. We really liked how it flung open, but it will not retract. . . Very disappointing

I didn't know what to expect when ordering, but I got a pleasant surprise. Very well made for the price and top notch for the display aspect when impressing others.

For what I paid for, this is an interesting piece. Definitely not something to be used practically (if you're looking for a sword for practicing or for actual use, you can find better). As a display item or for cosplay purposes, it's not bad. "A sword for show, not so much for go." (If that makes any sense...) It does get stuck open, but with the right practice and some help (tools, lubricant, a little elbow grease, etc) this can be worked around. All in all, I find interest in this collapsing sword. I'd get a second one, if the price were to drop...

I measured the blade length as 29", not 39" as stated in the specs. It is the perfect blade length for a jian, with excellent balance.

The is a great Tai Chi Sword. It expands well and has a case when it is retracted. It fit my Tai Chi Bag well.

My son used this for his Halloween costume. He has liked it a lot and it is a sturdy product.

I have been doing a tai chi sword set for 13 years. This is a great sword for practising the sword set. It has good weight and balance, and a nice leather grip. Give a firm shake to extend the blade and lock the segments. To collapse the blade for storage you may have to tap the tip on the floor to unlock the segments.

This is ok we needed for Tia Chi sword work. Haven't actually used yet but comes with a cute case. My teacher says its perfect. Lol i prefer the samurai sword lol

I can’t believe that I bought a retracting sword that doesn’t retract. I was so excited to get the sword, waiting everyday for it to show up. I saw various reviews online and I saw that this one seemed to be the best. When the sword arrived, I took off the lid and swung it and it extended out, it was beautiful, the look, the feel, the noise. Everything. This was my first sword ever. Until I tried putting it back and retracting it. I tried so hard but it’s not retracting at all. Please refer to the video. I didn’t try any oil or anything, though it may help, it might’ve voided my return (And plus it shouldn’t need any oil!). Extremely disappointed, I can’t find another one on amazon that’s this quality, as most of the other ones are 10$ cheap quality. so I really do hope it was just a defect and maybe I might order another that will ACTUALLY WORK straight out of the box. Again extremely disappointed, and will return. The whole reason why I bought this was for the retractable part and it can’t do that. I’ll order again and edit this review if they send me a working one, or if they fail twice in a row.

Unfortunately, it can retract whilst going thru the set. You must actually flick or pull to extend , then give it a final tug to try to lock it out.

Great quality product. It is what I expected. Finish wears off quickly but I guess it’s to be expected.
