The Oxford Handbook of International Relations

Fantastic overview of some of the key fields of IR thought. Some chapters are better than others but each contain a very fluid narrative of the prescribed topic. Of course, my assessment may be due to personal preference. I am using this book as a part of a study program for PhD comprehensive exams and would highly recommend.

This is a very good summary of the field of international relations. Better than many other IR readers and less expensive in paperback. A few sections are starting to show their age a bit, but it is good enough and comprehensive enough that I assign it to my intro IR students.

Every student of international relations should have this book and use it as a go-to resource.

An in-depth guidebook for IR and I can’t wait to read it more as I embark on post-grad

No doubt a both impressive and useful book to have sitting on your shelf. IR theory is what this book does best and boy does it do it in some detail. Definitely not recommended as an introductory text to IR theory, rather, a good place to pickup on the finer points of IR theory that one may lose going through the source texts or basic introductory textbooks.
