Worth the price tag
Single best purchase ive made all year! I have a very small 11x13 room that was converted from an office to a bedroom. It does not have a hot air return vent and the vent delivering the cold air is poorly implemented giving me about 10% of the air flow the rest of the house's vents get. I also have a PC that stays on a lot in this room that leaves the room hovering around 80 degrees at all times. This unit was worth every penny. It knocks my 80 degree room down to 68 in minutes, is multiple times quieter than the old window unit I had last year, works much better than my window unit since the radiator is in a window well. Since this just exhausts the heat to the window well instead of relying on the air in the window well for cooling the radiator the performance is that much better than a window unit in my case. It was incredibly easy to install compared to my window unit, and the app control and temperature readout from the app are such a nice luxury. If you have a small room in a basement with poor ventilation and a window well, this unit is perfect for you. Ive had it running for 50 hours now and havent had to drain it a single time. Im absolutely in love with this unit.

Great Air Conditioner. Absolutely recommend.
My first time purchasing a portable AC and I'm glad I picked this one. Easy setup, reliable app with a clean and easy to use interface, I can turn on the ac from anywhere from the app as long as the ac is connected to Wi-Fi. It's nice and quiet for a portable ac and I rarely have to drain it (once every 600 hours of use I'd say). It cools down my room quickly and drops the elevated humidity down to more comfortable levels as well. Very satisfied with it, definitely recommend.

Works well, good value.
Works well, looks good, and easy to maintain and control. The smart app allows scheduling etc. I use it in a small office so the BTU is great. I read complaints about loudness but I don’t have that problem. It’s not whisper quiet but it’s significantly quieter than most window models. The on off and control buttons on the body are sensitive so if you move it a lot or have small kids, you woul occasionally have to reach for the remote.

Cools my small bedroom
This portable ac cools my small bedroom with the 8000 BTU unit. I like that it has different settings: AC, fan and dehumidifier. It has decent airflow. You can keep the fan running or have it kick off when the ac does. YOU NEED TO DOWNLOAD THE APP!! I didn't know that. The app has firmware updates for the unit and it gives you the option to keep the fan on or off while the AC is running. The remote of course works but to access updates and other settings more easily you need the app. You have to put the exhaust hose in a window with the panels which I knew but some people may not have. The panels are a bit difficult at least in my experience the panels were really un-level and had gaps when I shut my window down over them so I had to use a lot of insulation foam and such but they give you quite a bit of it. The self adhesive stuff is almost useless it's too thin and if you try to remove it, it just rips. It's heavy, it's difficult to get out of the foam in the box. It's 55 pounds, I couldn't do it myself. The exhaust hose is very large and bulky but so far I haven't had any issue with it popping out of the panel hole. I haven't had to use the drain hose yet but I'll have to see once the humidity increases. The drain hose you will have to put in a bucket though. I'd recommend a 5 gal. water jug like the ones they use for water dispensers since the hose is quite small. It also uses gravity to drain the water from the hose so you may have to set the unit on something to elevate it if you use the drain hose. You should only plug this into the main wall outlet and have it be the only device plugged into it so it doesn't surge or cause electrical fires/issues. (I already knew this but some people may not.) I think 8000 BTU is plenty to cool one room but if you're trying to cool a whole apartment for example you'd have to have a bigger unit and probably some fans to circulate the air, even then if it's not a fairly open space I don't think it would cool a whole place evenly so I wouldn't expect that. It's a bit noisy but not extremely. I sleep with a fan on anyway so I'm used to it. I'd say if you have some background noise like a fan or a tv you probably won't notice it. However sometimes the oscillating ( I'm not sure what they're called, they're not fan blades but yeah. ) those sometimes make a creak or squeaky noise and a bit of noise when the compressor kicks on and off. If you're really sensitive to noise this may bother you if you're used to it being silent. Overall it does the job but honestly I think you might be better off just getting a standard window unit. My windows are a bit big so that's why I didn't get one. I think there are options that are just as good for cheaper but I'm not disappointed with my purchase. You just have to weigh the pros and cons.

Only first day but it's neat
The window installation is not as time consuming as it seems. The adhesive tape is very sticky and foam is weak so make sure you don't touch the sticky part or it will tear the foam when you try to pull it off. I'd recommend you installing the window hose before you attach it to the plastic window cover to prevent any damages to the window cover. I've already had a DREO smart fan so the app was easy to use. After plugging it in, the startup was quick and easy, the color display was bright and nice. Now the negatives... I'm not sure if my model was a used one since it was missing a few things... Each of these were listed as included on the booklet, it was missing the: Drain hose (to let the built up water exit without hassle) Remote battery (to control the device) L-shape window lock and screws (to prevent opening the window from the outside for security) 2 week update: The AC was working fine, but the weather here jumped up from the 70's to mid 80's in just a day. Now there's water built up and leaking all over the place, the wood tile floor is warping because it was leaking for a while and no one noticed. As I previously mentioned, the drainage hose wasn't included/missing in our package so we got nothing to drain the water out yet until we buy one separately. Very displeased... a missing piece of rubber tube resulted in all this water damage... 1 Month & FINAL UPDATE!! The company finally sent a replacement for missing parts last week. To set it up, I placed it on top of 2 benches to make sure that the hose will send the water right down and not get stuck before reaching the jug. I wanted to try it out based on some of the other reviewer's experiences so I connected the hose to a .5 Gal. jug of Tropicana orange juice and I was going to wait a few days. BIG MISTAKE!! After a few hours and the 1/2 Gal. jug was overflowing and leaking water everywhere. If I had connected the hose to a pot of plant, that plant would've drowned in a few hours. I got a couple of old recycled 5 Gal. water Jugs and connected it to that immediately. So I thought, maybe now I wont have to empty the water out for a while. WRONG!! I took a power rest and when I woke up, it was 7hrs and time for work. It only took 7 hrs, and already half the jug was filled, that's 2.5 Gals in 7 hrs!! So why does the product get a low score? Not because for it's ability to cool down my bedroom, that part it does just fine, but I could've done the same with a window AC, and then I wouldn't have to give up indoor and floor space or even keep track of it as often. I got it so I wouldn't have to deal with the water overflowing mess. That was the whole point of this "Air Conditioner for Bedroom with Drainage-free Cooling". THAT WAS A COMPLETE FAIL. There are plenty of OTHER LOWER-COSTING portable AC's around that are Alexa compatible, but this was the only one that claimed to be "DRAINAGE-FREE". *Sigh* Well... it's been a few days over a month... so I'm stuck with it, don't make my same mistake... Look elsewhere buddies~

Trust me, you’ll love this A/C if you’re not sure about spending the dough
Updating May 2026: still loving this product!! So happy and have shared it with others. In May & June in San Diego we get “May Gray” & “June Gloom” in that the ground temps are hot but ocean water isn’t heated up so there’s always coastal fog in the am, that burns off by afternoon. I can set this little guy to dry in the am & cool in the pm!! I can only imagine how well it would be in my old apt in Boston during those hot, rainy summer days 😬 Ok peeps, I hardly write reviews but I’m really impressed with this purchase! I live in So Cal - not really big needy on A/C, but yes summers are getting more humid than when I was a kid. Pair that with living in a 100 yr old building without central air (but pooled electric bill!) and I decided this was the year for shopping in this dept. I did a LOT a research, read a lot of reviews, parsed the pros & cons, and especially the prices. I wanted a unit that people rated the remote control & cooling as pros, I wanted to be able to control with an app when not home (to keep cat safely cool.) While there was a unit that was *slightly* better than this, the price on this unit made it a clear winner. When it arrived (thanks Amazon driver for bringing the box up the elevator to my door!!) all I had to do was lift the outer box off the styrofoam/particle board base, assemble the window slats and go! The remote sticks magnetically to the top of the unit, great because I use the app more often. It cools so quickly and covers a lot of sq ft!!! I love the fact that I can also use all the same functions on the front of the unit, if I’m running out the door, I can just tap it. 3 fan speeds + auto on the A/C, so there’s plenty of options. I may even try the dehumidifier if the traditional San Diego June gloom goes further into July! I don’t find it particularly loud, and I live in a corner studio. I’m used to it, it has become like a louder white noise. Can still watch tv and talk on the phone just fine. Super portable: I know it’ll roll into my closet just fine for storage. Bonus: about 2 months after I started using it, I realized I didn’t have the drainage hose to use with the dehumidifier function. I contacted DREO customer service - thru the app! Even the manual is available thru the app, so you can just recycle that paperwork! I asked if they could give me the dimension of the hose so I could buy a new one at my hardware store. Tina w their customer service had one at my door 3 business days later at no charge!! This is a really good product, I know it’ll last. I put it on a 3rd party payment plan and am so happy I splurged on this (it was a splurge in that I’m taking a few months to pay for it.) Trust my research, my frugal nature, and my recommendation here, you won’t be let down!

Great AC!
Love this air conditioner and going to probably buy a second one here soon for my living room. I replaced my Black + Decker for a smaller BTU AC because it would constantly trip my breaker. The 8000 stills cools my bedroom down significantly and I can run multiple things without tripping my breaker! I also love that I can use my phone to control the AC when I'm not home for my pets, even for vacations. This was something I struggled with on my old AC and I really wanted something I could control remotely. You can also set a timer, have sleep mode, control the fan level, and ofc set your desired temperature. So far, I haven't had to drain the AC after using it for a few weeks which is awesome. Setting up also took us only 15 min, and it's super easy to do in comparison to window AC's. As far as noise, it can be a little bit loud but it's just typical AC noise unfortunately. Thankfully, you can change the fan level to make it a little quiet and there's sleep mode as well. I consider it as white noise anyway, so I'm alright with it.

Works like a dream!
This AC is exactly what I wanted. It weighs ~ 55 lbs but has wheels already installed so easy enough to move around. I was actually able to install it by myself. The only issue I had was getting enough window clearance for the hose. I ended up using two pieces of the non-adhesive foam on the bottom and this solved the problem nicely. Otherwise it was pretty straightforward. The window panel seems very secure and much more so than window units with the folding screens on the sides that never seem to stay tight enough. They do recommend that the unit not sit on carpet. I used a piece of the flooring that I recently had installed in the bathroom because I have wall to wall carpet in the bedroom and it works well. According to the manufacturer it is very energy efficient and having this installed eliminates the need to overcool the entire house at night just to get one room as cool as I want. The hose is not particularly esthetically pleasing but the end result negates that for me. The bedroom is now cool and comfortable. The Dreo app is also a nice touch and works well. It allows for remote operation of the AC among other features. I had my son who is an electrical engineer take a look before I purchased this and he told me he thought it would serve me well. He was correct! Highly recommend this unit for anyone who needs to cool one room.

Really good unit, with great functionality and app
I purchased this DREO after returning a GE unit, which was a similar price, but had numerous bad designs and faults. I wasn't familiar with DREO products but I've been very impressed. Context: We're using this 8000 BTU unit in a medium sized bedroom. We live in a south-facing apartment with large windows in the Pacific Northwest: our apartment gets really hot and humid in the summer. Overall / cooling: This unit is really good. It's a great size for a bedroom; not so large that it dominates the space, but large enough to effectively cool the room very well. It's certainly not large enough to cool our entire apartment however, so if you're looking to cool a really large area I'd definitely look at something bigger than 8,000 BTU. The unit has self-evaporation, so you shouldn't need to drain the unit or use a hose outlet (unless you're using the dehumidifier mode). We've been running the unit continuously for 200h and haven't had to drain it yet. If you do need to drain it, the unit switches off and warns you, which is helpful. Volume: The unit is really quiet in comparison to the much cheaper 8000 BTU Arctic King unit we previously owned, and the GE 12000 BTU unit we returned. We sleep with it on all night, and it doesn't disturb us at all. When the compressor cycles on or off there's a slight volume change, but it's very minor. We typically sleep with a tower fan running all night, and this AC unit is barely any louder. Functions/app: The unit has the best range of functions + app that I've experienced. The unit itself has touch buttons which allow you to do most things, except set the schedule (which needs to be done via the app). It also has a really good remote that has the same functionality. The device has 3 fan speeds and 3 modes (fan, dehumidify, cool). We keep it set to cool mode, and set the unit to run the fan constantly. You can also set the device so the fan only comes on when the compressor is running, but we keep the fan running constantly to keep air moving. The unit can do celcius and farenheit, it has an eco mode and a sleep mode. The sleep mode adjusts the temperature overnight, so the room warms up slightly towards the morning; you can dial in the specific sleep temperatures via the app. The app itself is really good; very easy to navigate, allows you to control the device from anywhere, and tells you the current ambient temperature now and historically (this is great for us as we have pets, so it's good to know if the apartment has been getting too hot). You can also track your usage, and it'll inform you when the filter needs to be cleaned. The app schedule is really good, allowing you to set specific actions (e.g.: turn on cooling to 68 degrees, or turn unit off, or turn on fan) on specific days and/or times. Install kit: The window install kit is the best I've seen. It's super easy to put together, it comes with all the additional foam insulation you might need, and the components to hold the window kit together are all metal, rather than the cheap plastic parts that most come with (and inevitably snap). The one poor design element is how the exhaust tube connects to the window panel; this is with plastic clips that are super tight. They seem like a major weak point in the design and I'll be really careful when I disconnect the hose from the window. For that reason, if you're looking for a unit that you want to frequently move or disconnect from a window, this might not be the right one. Support: Lastly, I had a question about the product and contact customer services. They replied within 24 hours with all the info I needed; much better than my experience with GE who've outsourced all of their customer services to a different company.

Easy to clean, set up, and use - saved my life
Bought the 8000 BTU, loved it so much, bought the 14000 BTU as well. The AC is as told - quiet and quick cooling! There was noise that développed later on, so, I checked the manual and they advised me to clean the filter. After cleaning the filter it operated quietly again! If you download the app (which is amazing! It recommends when you should clean the filter, you can access their FAQ and user manual digitally, turn your machine on and off when you're away from home). The filter is easy to clean because you can separate it into two pieces. The placard you put in your window is easy to set up as well (it has bolts to set the pieces in place so that it doesn't keep sliding). All in all, really happy with the machine. I've been using it for a month now.

Very Happy with this!
This has made all the difference in my room, cools my bedroom down quickly, has the three different options. It also is placed right in front of my tv and I can still hear the tv perfectly The app is also amazing, I can turn it off when I’m at work and on super hot days turn it on an hour before I head home to cool it down for me. Lots of options and the app also lets you know when and how to clean the filter!

Good....although tweaks necessary....
I purposely waited a month before writing this review because I wanted to be fair and experience the device before commenting. While I won't dispute the many 5-star review about the unit's cooling abilities, there are other areas that aren't so great. To begin: I've never really understood the term 'portable' with these devices suggesting you can easily move it from room to room because it's on wheels. There's a problem with that thinking.....there's the not so tiny issue of the hose tethering the device to a convenient window. While I applaud DREO's engineers for the lovely coupling they created for the hose-to-machine scenario, unfortunately they didn't carry it through to the hose-to-window accessories. My hose poppoed out of the window unit in less than 24-hours with a distinct and very loud POP at midnight in the middle of a sweltering heat wave. Wrestling the hose back into the window aperture was really a barrel of laughs....NOT. The coupling is now secured with the requisite lengths of tape which seemingly adorn all portable AC units I've ever seen.....so exactly what makes this PORTABLE except for the wheels. In terms of the unit itself....it cools very quickly and efficiently but any notion anyone has that this unit is quiet enough for a bedroom....sorry, it's not. I've had mine set to AUTO for the entire month and I can tell you that when the engine cycles to full cool mode, you can definitely feel and hear the rumble.....both of which have woken me repeatedly. I suspect it will do better in the main portion of my apartment next summer.....definitely not the bedroom. Additionally, the remote device I received didn't work.....although DREO support staff replaced it quickly and efficiently and FYI....responded to the support request within hours so they've got great customer service. Just need to up their game regard to the hose-to-window coupling!!

Mr. beast
This AC is really a beast. I like the design and the looks of it. The remote is so different in comparison to your average remote. I had an issue with the remote that wasn't working and Amazon send me a whole AC unit replacement instead of just the remote, and I didn't even have to return the 1st one right away. I live in a house that is not big but long, and this AC cools down the entire place effortlessly.
