Cleaning
is a little difficult but you must do some basic prep before you use it the first time. I used food grade mineral oil on every part before we used it and got some specialty brushes for cleaning after use. Unit performs well and the suction cup works very well.

Very very happy with this grinder!
I have now used this grinder twice, using both sizes of grinder plates.I'm exceedingly pleased with this product! It's very well made. It assembles and disassembled easily. The suction is very very strong. My advice is to make sure you are also using the clamp to ensure no movement. We followed manufacturers instructions and have made sure the meat is cold before grinding amd oiled the grinder with a food grade oil. I've used beef and pork, I have not tried poultry yet.I'm very very happy with this grinder.

Great appliance
I hesitated to purchase this grinder since you can get some cheap electric ones for less than half the money. I have used electric grinders and they were always annoying to the point of being unpleasant due to the loud noise that comes from the many whining gears that are needed to generate the power and slow speed and of the auger. They are also very bulky and take up cabinet space when not in use, which of course is most of the time.In contrast, this manual grinder is compact, completely silent and a pleasure to use. Every part of the unit, except the separate plastic feed tray, impresses you with heft and high quality. (I didn’t see any need for the feed tray anyway. ) The grinder is polished to a high shine, but unfortunately only on the outside. This is a bit of a disappointment, since it is the inside that contacts the food. The rough inside surfaces produce more resistance to the meat that is going through the auger and makes the cleaning a bit more difficult (cleaning the inside of any grinder is difficult as it is). Still cleaning stainless beats doing it to any other material.I had worried about the strength of the suction attachment to the underlying surface, but again was thoroughly impressed with how well it worked. Obviously the surface must be clean and very smooth like a stone countertop. Before use, I take off the rubber suction cup and cool the grinder in the freezer for half an hour. The crank provides plenty of leverage and makes the grinding easy and quick. This is one of those kitchen toys that you are looking for an excuse to use.

Plastic Sleeve Shaft
If you have been searching for a versatile grinder, you will quickly learn of the dreadful manufacturing of models made with plastic and utterly unsuited aluminum metal that not only is prone to rust and discoloring and reaction with the food, but also traces of it can contaminate everything causing various harm.Besides, several electrical units also leek industrial lubricants in the process of rotating the shaft, literally contaminating the food with petro based lubricants. An all stainless steel manual solution that was compact and had multiple attachment options such as the case with this model seemed like a fantastic solution and finally an answer to a missing product. To me compactness is always an innovative feature such as this 8S model - to design any product that can do the same thing in the smallest footprint. This brand is also backed by responsive and very helpful customer service. However upon inspection of the unit, I found out that in spite of the description stating that the unit is all stainless steel and nothing non-metal comes into contact with food there is a critical round component called sleeve shaft made of plastic. It is inserted in the back of the shaft that then allows the attachment of handle. It is sandwiched between two critical components that wear off overtime and render the unit disposable. It is present in all manual models, from the most compact to the largest. The unit should have been made from an all stainless steel. For this reason it will not work for me and I will revert back to manual methods. Although they have included a spare unit in anticipation that it needs to be replaced in a couple of years, after that you end up with a disposable unit, not to mention plastic shavings that go into the food. A critical component like hat should have been made all metal or simply incorporated into the back of the shaft.I recommend the manufacture to consider the following in a future version:> Eliminate all plastic parts that come into contact with food. Make everything from food grade Stainless Steel. Sleeve shaft should be made of stainless steel. Currently the food insertion tray is also made of a plastic. I can bypass that but it would be nice to have that in metal as well. If it drives up the cost, I am fine with it. I will pay for a working solution that is not aluminum, plastic or has a weak point that renders the unit disposable.> Create a more friendly mechanism/blade for certain pastry and pasta doughs and vegetables, legumes - although as is, it can be managed with the current design with employing some tricks. As a pescatarian/primarily plant eater, I am looking for a solution that offers functionality for a neglected base of non meat users.Certain pastry doughs that already have sources of fat incorporated need to be passed through a grinder for developing best texture. There are many applications of legumes, plants and vegetables based sausages and burgers as well.Another wonderful idea would be a mechanism that allows making your own pasta. It doesn't have to be every pasta under the sun, just a few primary selection with plates ranging from vermicelli to fehttuchini. Perhaps a grinder layout is not suited for making pasta. But that is another product that is missing from the market with current manual models having many faults and electric models made of plastic garbage.> Include at least a couple of size sausage maker attachments. Currently there is only one narrow sausage makers included with this model.> There are visible fine metal dust and non-smooth finishes which I can live with after throughly scrubbing and washing every corner multiple times before use. The manual recommends to wash all parts and run a coarse vegetable like radish to get rid of the fine dust. But this is something that should be done at the factory.I have no issue with the fact that it comes with a foodgrade oil coating to protect the metal. They can be washed off. I also have no issues applying my own oil to keep the unit from rust during storage.I really wanted to like and use this product but the overlooked design component of sleeve shaft insert is forcing me to revert back to manual means for now.

Great Little Grinder
There was difficulty keeping it stable on the countertop with a glass cutting board. The grinder was transferred to a small folding table, and it worked like a dream. It is stainless steel, unlike the aluminum electric units that we used in the past that tarnished and had a dark residue that tainted the meat. Every part was washed in the dishwasher. Chicken breasts were ground and made into patties. It was a successful purchase for us, using chicken breasts.
