How to check which thickness you need? And what speeds are supported by the optical bay? Mine is a Lenovo B590. Thanx

To check what thickness you need, just Google your laptop specs or take out the optical drive and measure it. If you would take the time to read the product page, it states in the specs that the speed is SATA 3.

There is nothing on the acer website but will this fit in a acer aspire f5-573g? what size?

the size is approximately 130x130mm square and 12mm depth ,these items appear to be pretty universal or generic, but I don`t know if it will fit any particular pc.

How to check which thickness i need?

Removr the drive and mrsher the metal thikness,, you tube will show you How to,.,.

So do I remove the cover plate on the current drive and slap it on the caddy?

Yes indeed, that's what i did, just gently prise it off and replace it with the one you prise off your laptop/pc...... or if your plate is flat anyway (if you have an old laptop or ultra small pc) id just swap the whole caddy over...... The only other thing to check is the size of you optical drive bay and they normally have 7mm 9.5mm or 12.7mm if i remember correctly
