POS
Came with the leading edge of a baseball, required 2 hours sharpening with a file to get a decent edge to it. Neither edge had been completed, on one side it was as wide as a pencil lead and completely flat the other edge was about half that but still with no sharpened edge.

Ludell Axe
Seems to be well made and so far has done the job on Landscaping. Some tools loose the handle when digging out tree stumps and roots....this axe has held up.

Nice axe - NOT a fiberglass handle
Love the rubber on the neck and handle. The handle is plastic, not fiberglass. Basically indestructible. The head is excellent quality, strong and sharp.

Head Came Loose
The axe head started to come loose after about 8 hours of work. I used the axe to cut trees roots and fell a couple of old dogwood trees. It was by no means heavy work, but the handle seems to be done for. Also, the axe was very dull right out of the box and required a fair investment of time with a whetstone to get a decent edge. Not recommended.

Good size and axe head, but handle is NOT "indestructible"
The weight is nice for hacking through serious stumps, etc. The rubber coated handle at the end absorbs some shock, I'm sure. And the dual-purpose head is useful though it doesn't seem to hold an edge very long. The real problem is that the handle broke after only a couple of seasons. And I'm not in a wood-cutting business or anything so it's not like it was being used for hours a days for months on end. I wish axes had built in swing-odometers so you could tell how many swings you get out of it because I wish I could tell you. It wasn't long. Maybe 3 trees, a couple of stumps, and some brush. The handle exterior (being plastic or something) is intact. The problem is the fiberglass or whatever is on the interior of the handle started making a crunching sound and then the handle started bending (too much) when used, and now there is a pale-colored dust (fiberglass?) pouring out of a crack in the handle. If these were guaranteed for life (due to the "indestructible" claim written right on the handle) I would send it back to Ludell. But since that's not likely I'll probably bore out the handle and get a replacement (wooden) handle from the hardware store.
