Prestige Ultra is the best electric rotary shaver especially if you can get it at a low price.
The i9000 Prestige Ultra is pretty much exactly as advertised. Caught the Ultra on sale, still expensive but great value. I have a Series 7000 shaver, which is great shaver. The Prestige Ultra is a noticeable step up from the 7000. The battery lasts probably at least an hours worth of active shaving time. It lasts about as long as what you would expect from an electric razor. Have had about 7 shaves in the last two weeks and there is 30% battery remaining. I probably average 5-6 minutes per shave. I do wish it had more of a battery but that is only because I know it's possible. It's a super effective shaver that reduces shave time. It gives a super close shave, best I've had in 20 years using an electric shaver. It gives an almost baby smooth shave. Closely mimics or seemingly exceeds a blade razor. Not as maneuverable as a blade but is quite agile. I was apprehensive on some of the reviews about shaving the neck and under the nose. Once you use it I found it works just fine. No pulling on a 3 day beard. Working on going to 4 days but hate hair on my face and neck. Experimented with shaving dry, wet, soapy, pre-shave gels and lotions. Dry shaves are the most difficult but better than on the 7000. Just doesn't glide like older shavers but they don't shave as close. Wet shaves do much better for ease of movement. Soapy shaves are by far more comfortable, easier and reduces shave time. Pre-Shave gels and lotions are better than soapy, depending upon the one you use. I prefer the gel/cream type. Don't like an oily type of pre-shave. Initially setup the shaver using the Groomtribe app, which was very easy. LED Lights are a good telltale for various shave recommendations. You can also adjust the Custom setting. The charging stand works fine and the lights are a nice addition. It would be nice if the shaver and stand both had a USB-C port or at least include an adapter to connect via USB-C. Finally, cleaning the Prestige Ultra is super easy and quick. I religiously use the Quick Cleaning Pod. I always rinse the shaver with water after use and dry it off before placing in the cleaning pod. Cleaning Pod is great idea and works great. The cleaning pod is a good resting spot and it also cleans. Really hope the pod and shaver lasts a while.

Norelco's Best Shaver.
I have always been partial to high-end electric shavers. My first electric shaver was the Norelco 955rx in 1991. I used that shaver for five years before returning to the blade. I bought a Braun foil shaver when they came out with their cleaning system. Having enjoyed the convenience of that cleaning system, all of my succeeding shavers have had automatic cleaning and charging systems. In 2009, I bought a Panasonic with a cleaning system. This Panasonic lasted seven years, using the same foil and cutter block. I believe it lasted long because I used distilled water in the cleaning tank. I also sprayed lubricant on the shaver heads after each cleaning. The shaver was still working but it got lost during a relocation in 2017. I used a blade for two years before buying a Panasonic Arc 4 with a cleaning system. This Arc 4 is still working well; however, the cartridges for the cleaning system is no longer easy to find. Panasonic switched to a more eco/green cleaning system. I decided to try the top end Norelco because it comes with a cleaning system. And that product is the subject of this review. One month of use and it is ready to be reviewed. This Norelco is the most luxurious shaver that I have ever owned. The unit comes with Bluetooth that can connect to the Groom Tribe app on your phone. The app "manages" your device. It tells you how well you shaved, how much charge is left, and when to change the cartridge in the cleaning pod. The shave is equal to the Panasonic's. The experience is true luxury. The shaver will signal when you are pressing too hard, or too light. The cleaning system is simpler than the units on the Panasonic and the Braun. The Norelco shaver provides the power to pump the cleaning fluid from the pod to the shaving heads. It is quick to clean, but it does take long for the razor heads to dry. The cleaning pod does not charge. You have to use the included charging stand. Overall, a true luxury product. Look, very few of us look forward to our morning routine to get ready for work. The grind. I say, make your morning enjoyable by using grooming products that you like. I don't want to oversell an electric shaver but this beauty can make the start of your day more enjoyable. You pick up the shaver and the display says "Hello, followed by your name." Use the app, set it to sensitive mode, follow the pressure guides, and you will have a comfortable shave. Use Williams Electric Shave before. Follow it with the Proraso after shave lotion. This Philips/Norelco is a great product. Hopefully, it will last a long time. How does it compare to the other brands? The Panasonics are the most durable. The Panasonic battery can be replaced. Although my two never needed it after years of use. The foil and the cutters are the most durable. If you lubricate before each shave, yours may last many years. Japanese quality is amazing. The Braun advantage is the cleaning system. Braun uses an alcohol cleaner. It does the best job of cleaning the razor and it dries quickly. Braun's foil does not last long though. Panasonic and Braun have cleaning stands that clean, dry, lubricate, and charge the razors. Norelco's system is the simplest: it only cleans. Evaporation will do the drying. Theoretically, it should be the most reliable. Though I have not experienced any issues with the other systems. Norelco and Panasonic uses a detergent rather than an alcohol. The "new" system from Panasonic uses a packet of detergent mixed with water in a special tank at the bottom of the cleaning stand. And no, I do not have experience with the "new" system from Panasonic. My Arc 4 still uses the plastic cartridge that has an internal foam filter and detergent. There are do-it-yourself men on social media who play at chemistry by creating their own cleaning fluid. I do not recommend doing that. My shavers have always lasted years. I believe it is because I use the original cleaning cartridges and fluids from the manufacturer. I also use spray lubricant on the blades. In the past, I used products from Norelco and Remington to lubricate the shavers. Now, I use Panasonic's shaver oil. I lubricate after each cleaning. A drop on each blade is enough. Which means the shaver is never used without lubrication. How long the battery will last, in my opinion, will determine how many years of service you get. I only recharge when the battery level reaches down to 20%. The Norelco's battery will discharge even when not in use because the Bluetooth communicates with your phone. UPDATE (February 18, 2026) - I now have enough experience with the Norelco/Philips i9000 Prestige Ultra to finally say, "this is the best electric shaver that I have used." This is the best electric shaver that I have owned and used. Philips has a winner.

Awesome shaver!
It is quiet, shaves extremely well. I used to have a top end Braun shaver, and this one is quieter, faster, and shaves closer. When sitting on the charger it is a bit wobbly, so take care not to knock it over. I also think the Braun cleaning system is better than the one on this shaver. I wash out the hairs with running water before running the cleaning cycle, otherwise it doesn't remove the hairs.

The Best Electric Shaver Available Today
I can't say enough positive things about this shaver. Ultimately, you want a shaver that gives a close, comfortable shave and the i9000 does this better than any past Norelco (and I've had most of them for the past 40 + years). Besides the shave itself, I love the fact that the operation is quiet. My wife can be sleeping in the bedroom and she will not hear me shaving in our ensuite. I also appreciate the fact that I can easily clean and lubricate the i9000 in the Quick Clean pod. Lastly, although I don't make a lot of use of the Groomtribe app, it does provide me with information relating to my technique (which evidently is very good) as well as my battery health and the life expectancy of my blades. The i9000 came with an excellent travel case, a nose hair trimmer and a sideburn/beard trimmer as well. Could it be improved? I would welcome a full-fledged cleaning station that not only cleaned and lubricated but also dried the blades. As it is, I need to remove the shaver later in the day to air dry it in an open position on the counter top. I would also welcome a built-in trimmer as opposed to one that is an accessory. I realize that these changes would probably necessitate a redesign of the blade shape since the pentagonal heads allow it to rest in the QC pod. In a perfect world the blades would return to their former round shape and the cleaning station would somewhat resemble what we once had with earlier shavers. However, I'm perfectly content with my i9000 as it is and highly recommend it to men who have troublesome neck hairs as well as men who like to shaver every other day given its ability to easily deal with longer hair.

Great electric shaver even for daily use!
I have used electric shavers almost exclusively for over 15 years. I occasionally will do a blade shave, but have found high-end electrics do a great job. I used a Norelco 1290X for years, and when it lost its ability to hold a charge (and replacement heads were no longer available), I decided to try foils. I have used Braun Series 7 and 9 (both good, not great) and Panasonic Arc5 (great) over the past 7 years, and instead of getting a new foil and blades for my aging Arc5, I decided I should try something new. I was reluctant to try the i9000 P/U since many reviews said rotaries are just not good for daily shaves, but based on my past positive experience with Norelco, I figured "why not?" They have a 45-day guarantee, so I figured I would try it, use it as instructed, and keep a log of pros/cons, and decide if it was worth keeping. Long story short, it is. I feel I get an excellent shave with this unit, even shaving every weekday. I have experimented with totally dry, dry with a pre-shave (Spieck), wet with a gel, and wet with nice shaving cream. All have yielded excellent shaves. The absolute best shave has been with shaving cream, but dry with pre-shave is a very close second. In some ways, dry with the pre-shave was better, as the dry nature made it easier for me to hold certain areas tight and let the cutters catch the hair. I would say I have a very average beard across the board: stubble neither fine nor thick, pattern of growth mostly in the same direction but reverses at the very bottom of my neck, angles of my face allow for pretty good flow of the shaver heads, etc. The different settings (some controlled through the app) are kind of not needed. There may be some people who need to aim for lower speeds, but I set it for intense and have had no issues with skin irritation. The LED light is surprisingly helpful. After years of foils, the technique needed with a Norleco is very different, and the "guide lights" have helped me regain the proper pattern to get the best results. An interesting quirk that I had forgotten is that rotaries need greater pressure against your face. Even after a month+, I still get the blue "pressure too light" indicator during my shaves. Maybe a little gimmicky, but the device helping you know "too light" or "too hard" does help with using it as designed. I got the unit with the QuickClean pod, and I use that daily. I rinse the shaver under tap water to remove bulk clippings, and the QC pod does the rest. I actually prefer that the QC pod is a standalone unit that the shaver powers vice a combo clean/charge unit, as I feel a shaver sitting on the charger all day could be detrimental to the battery. I have been very pleased with this model, and it passes the "spouse test" as my wife seems to think my face feels smoother than with the Arc5. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a good shave. It is flexible in use, quiet in operation, easy to clean, and gives a high-quality shave without irritation. Extra bonus if you can grab a deal. I had it on my Amazon wish list for a month and pulled the trigger when I saw the price drop $100 for a few days.

Better shave, less irritation, queieer operation than a Braun
Better than a Braun! I needed to give up my blade shaving because i was placed on Anticoagulants due to Atrial Fibrillation. I read all the reviews and unfortunately chose a Braun. Series 9 pro. After 2 months of use and frustration I admitted my mistake and bought a Norelco i9000. The difference was between night and day! The Braun consistently did not cut certain area of my neck and face. No matter how many times and in what direction or how hard I pressed, long hairs would remain so my wife would have to use a trimmer to neaten me up. The Norelco gets every hair without any problem. The green indicator for appropriate pressure is extremely helpful. The Braun actually cut my skin several times. The Norelco, never. The Braun was so noisy that my wife had to flee the room and close the door. The Norelco is ten time quieter and makes a less irritating sound. The Norelco purrs. The cleaning cycle on the Braun was noisy and took 20 minutes. Norelco is over in a couple of minutes ith less noise. The braun shaver is much heavier than the Norelco. DONT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE I MADE, GET THE NORELCO. You can thank me later

Quality unit and solid shaving performance so far.
I just made the switch to an electric razor after using disposables for many years, so I was skeptical. I did a lot of research and looked atthe i9000 prestige ultra along with competing Braun and Panasonic. What sold me were the exceedingly positive reviews on the Norelco. The unit appears well built, has a very functional stand, and liked the ease of opening and closing the shaving head for cleaning. I was hesitant that the sideburn trimmer was a seperate head versus a pop-out. But so far, I haven't minded that and mostly can get away with using the regular shaving head. The unit is quiet and seems to give a very close shave with minimal irritation and daily cleaning (without using the fancy including cleaning chamber) is very easy. While I am unable to comment yet on longevity of the shaving head as I've only had it about a week, so far I am very pleased with the quality of the unit and the shaving performance. I don't miss the shaving cream. :) Update: Several weeks in and still exceptionally pleased with my purchase. A few months in: Still excellent but the side burn trimmer attachment is useless. But I barley use that so still very pleased.

Much Better than the Braun Series
I bought the top of the line Braun shaver by mistake, and I was very disappointed in its poor quality of the shave. This i9000 Prestige shaves my face about 10 times faster. I can go over my face 10 times with the Braun and it just keeps missing everything. It takes me about 15 minutes to shave with the Braun. With this, I can literally get a quick good shave in about 30 seconds. The quality of this shaver is just so much better than the Braun. I made a mistake believing all the internet reviews that the Braun Series 9 Pro is the best shaver. The nose trimmer and self cleaning unit work well. The cleaning unit does not charge or use a plug in. The shaver charges in the stand. Get one of these Philips when they are on sale! The only negative item about this shaver in my opinion is that it does not come with a wall usb plug in charger. It only comes with a USB A cable. For this price on your premium shaver, include a wall charger Philips Norelco! The only cons

Worth the $$$
Husband loves this. He used an electric shaver years ago but went back to a razor as his beard was too course. This works great with his course hair. It is also gentle around the neck and collarbone areas which can be quite sensitive for him when shaving. He used the app which guided him how to use the shaver and how firm/light to press which was a great starting point but you will need time to figure out how it works best for you. He has found circular motion on the face and against the grain on the neck works best for him. Battery life has been great and the automatic cleaner accessory is quick and easy to use.

Great Shaver combination, let down by the charging cable...
I have had a number of Phillips shavers over the years, and apart from a 9000 Series shaver that I bough roughly 10 years ago, they have all been very reliable. Because of my experience with my last 9000 Series shaver, where the battery only lasted 3 years before the shaver could no longer power the beard attachment, I was a bit reluctant to purchase another high end Phillips shaver. This is a pretty good shaver combination for the price, however there are some aspects of this shaver that seem a bit gimmicky. Having Bluetooth connection and an animated Color OLED display, along with the RGB LED SenseIQ shaving usage feedback, a flashing / dancing LED charger base are such examples that serve little purpose other than to add some product bling. Other aspects feel like a bit of penny pinching, such as the short (30cm) USB charging cable that connects to the base or shaver via Phillips proprietary shaver connector. (NOTE: If you have an older non USB charged Phillips shaver, the charger will NOT be compatible with the newer USB charged models). Likewise, not coming with a USB / AC Charger is another penny pinch play book from Apple/Samsung. Pros * USB Capable Charging (Very handy for traveling as you can use your phone charger - However REMEMBER to bring you Phillips charge cable !!) * Beard trimmer attachment is very good. Nice and powerful. * The high powered shaving mode is great. Can cut through a 5 day growth with ease. * Charge base allows for quick docking / charging, as well as giving the shaver a place to live * Long battery life, with a typical 5 minute shave using roughly 5% charge Cons * Very short USB cable. I needed to purchase a USB extension lead so as I could place the shaver on the vanity unit, as the power socket was more than 30cm away. * Does not come with a USB Charger. (I can understand for a "Budget" model shaver, but at this price point, I would expect a bit more than this). Overall, I feel a 7000 series model with a beard attachment would be more value for money, however these models are hard to find. If you like a little bit of bling in your bathroom, then this would be the model you should go for. * Pros * I like the USB Pros

Battery drainage
Great shaver but the battery drains really quickly. I think it’s because of the app if the phone is nearby the app drains the battery. I charge it to 100% and the next morning without use it drops to 80%. I might get in touch with Philips they might give me some advice.
