The 850 (but not the 820) reviews *all* say that a carboncopy clone is required for install. Is that true? And is a clone not needed for the 820?

We copied or cloned the hard drive into iTunes on an external drive so we had all content currently on the computer. We replaced the drive with the new SSD, installed a new operating system and restored the drive via iTunes. It worked perfectly from the start. All files were organized as in the original. I’m not sure how you can replace the drive without cloning the old drive for reinstallation on the new one.

What is read/write speed of this sdd installed on MacBook Pros?

Check your mac version in the Finder Menu -> HAbout this mac (mine was 11.1) and then check the compatibility table in the Trascend webpage. I bought the wrong item twice before checking it right.
