Would it be possible to fit a leather strap to this watch?

I can't see a reason why you couldn't.The only potential difficulty would be finding one wide enough. Personally I wouldn't as the strap that's supplied is comfortable and very breathable for a resin strap.

What is the difference in model gw9400-1cr and 1er ??

Identical, just made for different markets (USA and Europe).

Is this watch new (as in unused), and does it have its complete packaging including Casio warranty?

The watch I received was brand new , in proper packaging with authentic instructions. The watch is great , looks good on the wrist .
