Harvest the largest pods, and save the seeds for the next planting. Poppies are self-seeding and should reseed themselves once pods burst open. An established poppy garden is likely to produce a biannual showing with little maintenance.

Misleading picture
The picture of a opium poppy pod leaking sap is deliberately and dishonestly misleading. You will get nothing of the kind. What I got were some kind of ordinary poppy seeds that did grow and produce poppy flowers with small pretty flowers with small pods about the size of a dime with zero sap. I don't know what these are but they are not opium poppies.

They are red corn poppies
Update: they are red corn poppies!!! See photo. These will not grow over night. You have to show them in winter months (nov, dec, jan) or end of March/beginning of April and they will sprout. Make sure to keep moist if sowed in spring. I would post a pic but no option to do so

Nothing came up
We purchased the seed but nothing came up. We also purchased some from a local store, and we planted it the same way. That seed all came up. If I could give this a zero star rating I would.
