Layering is the key to scooping
This litter has solved my problem with my very old 18 yr old, who is losing his ability to clean himself properly. I take him to the groomer a few times a year for a thorough cleaning, but he was having an on-going problem with getting "cement" litter between his toes, that I had to help him pull out, and painfully pull out his hair at the same time. The clumping litter was also getting stuck to the bottom of his pads that had to be soaked off with warm water -- wow, a lot of trouble. Now, problem's solved with Yesterday's News (which comes in round pellets and long pellets -- I use only the long pellets).I put about 3 inches of regular clumping litter in the litter box, and then throw a few handfuls of the YN pellets on top of the clumping litter -- enough to completely cover it. This makes his stuff very easy to scoop away and easy to see when cleaning -- and after I scoop, then I throw another handful of YN back on top. Every now and then, I push the YN to the side and add more clumping litter, and then push back the YN and throw on enough to re-cover. Just a little trouble to go to, but the positive side is that kitty's paws are always clean and healthy, the floor is always clean because none of the clumping litter comes out now (he just walks into the litter box and walks out, staying "afloat" above the clumping sticky litter -- tracking nothing), the box is very easy to clean, I don't have to worry about kitty ingesting any clumping litter into his intestines, and I'm very happy now.

No scent or dust; safest for your kitty!
I really prefer the 15 pound bags even if that isn't as cost effective as 30 lb bags. I am petite and the 30 lb bag is too heavy. You should note that once kitty gets the litter wet, you need to scoop out that portion from the litter box. The litter seems to crumble after the cat pees on it. Not so with poop. So the litter is great but please scoop regularly to keep kitty clean. P.S. I have used natural products (World's Best, etc.) and I had problems with those litters because occasionally a bug would be in the litter and my cat noticed that immediately. We both watched in disbelief as the bugs crawled around. I was offered a new free bag of World's Best but I changed to Yesterdays News and now my kitty and I are very happy. NO BUGS or stinky scent. If you need to kill the smell from the litter box, change the litter or sprinkle some baking soda into the litter.

Favorite littler
Yesterday's News (YN) is my absolute favorite cat litter for so many reasons:1) IT DOESN'T TRACK!!!2) barely any dust3) NO awful chemical smell (such as for example Purina Tidy Cats 24/7 Performance Cat Litter)4) it's recycled5) absorbs extremely wellTip for unwanted cat smells: YN doesn't really cover up any smells, but since my cat has an open litter box and I scoop every day, the points above are much more important to me. What I like to do is add some REGULAR baking soda (not the cat littler deodorant, because that one has an unbearable chemical smell - tho I must say I am a bit sensitive to smells in general). Currently, instead of baking soda, I add a layer of Feline Pine Original Cat Litter** underneath YN. Feline Pine (FP) can track a bit because it breaks down into smaller pieces as soon as it absorbs any liquid so I try to keep it as bottom layer, and it works so well in combination with YN. The natural pine scent is pleasant and helps to hide some of the yucky smells my fur-ball leaves in her box.** Feline Pine used to have a much better formula (the pellets used to absorb better, and not fall apart right away, making it last MUCH longer than what's currently in the FP bags. Loads of people have been upset and complaining about there obvious strategy.. so here are some alternatives that I personally haven't had the chance to try but others had positive feedback on the following: Petsmart's version called Exquisicat & the Petco brand.Hopes this helps ;)Cheers!

This is the very best litter I've found
I've had cats all my life, sometimes as many as 7 at a time, and I have tried almost all litters. This one is the best. It is not heavy. It truly is unscented, unlike all the clay litters. It lasts as long as a week, with one cat; a half-week with more than one. It is easy to scoop out the turds, and it tends to keeps them from smelling if one is deposited when you are out. You can tell from the smell when you need to change it. The litter itself has a dry, newspapery smell. When you need to change it, it gets an ammonia smell. Unlike clay litter, it does not stick to the pets and does not dirty the floor outside the box. And when you empty the box, all you have to do is wipe it with a cleaning wipe.

Good for my bunny, no odor issues
This litter works well for my bunny. I put about 1/2" - 3/4" in the bottom of his litter pan, and then put some narrow strips of newspaper on top. The pellets look a lot like his food pellets, so I cover them with the newspaper so he doesn't get confused and try to eat them. (He's not the brightest of bunnies). I think it also keeps his little feet cleaner, until the pellets start expanding and soaking up faster. Then I put some hay on top of the newspaper and he goes to town. It's low dust and fragrance free, which is good for him. And I don't notice any smell from his litter box once he's used it. I also really like that it's made from post-consumer paper - makes me feel all environmental and good - and the 15 lb. should last me quite a while. I ordered the 30 lb. bag in August, and it lasted me until now, mid-February. 30 lb. is pretty unwieldy, though, so I went with the smaller bag this time so it would be easier to store.
