It absolutely does have the chemical odor which the manual clearly states. We pulled out all the pieces and let it air out and after 24 hours it was fine. My husband and I put it together in less than two hours. All parts went together well as long as we lined them up flush with each other. The directions were very easy to follow. Most photos show it having a floor of some kind but it is whatever the customer chose to use. It DOES NOT have a floor. We bought a cat mat from Sam's that fits perfectly. We were four "B" screws short so we used four "A" screws because there were plenty of them left over. Instead of using the silver brackets to attach a second enclosure as the instruction state, we used them to secure the vertical joinings. The hideaway box is too small for our cat to go in and turn around so we only put one up and left the other out so there would be a longer bench. All the shelves are sturdy as they have premade brackets that go under them. We did have issues with three or four of the screws simply turning in the holes, but we left them as is because our cat is not rough and we didn't see it being a problem. A small piece of toothpick in the hole first would probably help with that issue. there’s plenty of room for me to go inside to clean and scoop the litter box. Very happy with this purchase!

You can put it together with just a screw driver, it’s that easy, but I would recommend having two people to build it, though you could probably do with just one. The wood is durable enough for cats, the design is amazing. (Having a drill makes it so much faster).In my cats catio, I have a cordless water filter that I bought from Amazon, a faux grass rug that I also bought from Amazon, little cat sized beds to fit into the napping boxes that I got off Amazon, and solar lights that also came off Amazon. 😅😅 needless to say Amazon had everything to make this happen.It’s worth the price to know my cats are safe at night.

The cats love their outdoor space. Building it was fairly simple…just follow the directions. However I do have some design issues.1 The window entry is located in an upper section which makes it hard for a ground level window to. I had to move the cat platform down to the middle of the panel, cut the screen to provide a lower entry point.2 It would be nice if the back center panel came in three interchangeable sections to adjust for window level.3. Proved screen is very sturdy but large for all sorts of insects to be able to get into both the enclosure and even into the house via the window. What I did is go to Lowe’s and purchase window screen rolls to cut and measure, and I stapled it throughout the entire framework which one provided additional shade for the cats but now it is very difficult for bugs to get in.4. Also on the ground level, it goes right to the dirt grass of the house outside, which to me provide a problem because the cats will now have an extra litter box which I really didn’t want them to do cause they were carrying in pieces of wood chips. So I went and bought ground cover for weed barriers and doubled it up and again staple it to the bottom so now the cats have a base to walk on, but also allows for any water that gets into the patio to actually filter out and drain out. And it will keep weeds from growing up, but I don’t have to spray.

This takes a little bit of time to put together but the directions are really easy to follow and it actually is really sturdy and well put together. My cats love it. I also really like the idea that you could get more of them. Like remove the window space from the back of one and put it up against the other because it comes with connection pieces. Or you could add them on to either end and make it longer.

I have a cat I have to isolate for a while and this fits the bill. I put it together myself. The pieces are numbered, which made it very easy to follow the directions.
