You don't need their shelf.
I don't have the modular shelf, so used 3m tape to stick it to my shelf and it works great.

A nice desk add on
Nice sturdy stand which hold my iPad Air nicely. Doesn't take up to much room. Compared to other brands I would say this is well priced.

Exceeded My Expectations
I built my own desk shelf and wanted to find a way to mount my iPad so I could use it as a second screen. The Ultram tablet stand was just what I was looking for. The build quality is amazing. Made of thick metal that looks powder-coated black and has a nice felt pad that protects the iPad from scratches. I did not use the included mounting hardware as it was for their stand, but I was able to screw it to the bottom securely. I am so impressed that I will be ordering some of their other stand accessories.

Does not fit the stream deck
Marketed as fitting the stream deck. It does not fit the stream deck really. You can place a stream deck on this stand in the same way you could put a book, or I dunno a wallet or something. It's not really fitting, but of course physically you can put one thing on top of another without it collapsing.
