Old School
This book is a bit dated, but is an interesting read. There are tips for anyone who has an older sail boat in need of some updating or improved functionality.

Démodé or probably a good book 25 years ago.
Vraiment démodé dans tout, les styles, les besoins, les intérieurs, un livre de l'ancien temps inutile dans nos besoins modernes.A long time ago way to do sailing.

obsolete and unpractical do it yourself in boat building
Too poor, nothing new, mostly unpractical, useless advices. Cannot improve any boat that way. Do-it-yourself for oldies, true rigor & tradition are elsewhere.Sergio Dall'Omonautical senior editorIl GazzettinoItaly

A boat is your home
Finely illustrated with nice drawings, the book is good both for amateur boatbuilders and professionals, and surely is based upon a long experience. Boats being narrow inside, space is to be exploited in the best way, while outer parts are to be fitted to resist to sea and sun. This book is really easy to understand and very useful even for wooden house buildes.

Some quaint ideas but of little practical help
If you have an old and quite large classic wooden yacht and want to make a number of small improvements then this is not a bad book.It covers multiple improvement but is too stuck in the past with almost everything being made from wood. Yes this is nice, but has little place in the modern yacht. It gives some ideas but does not go into enough detail on how to do things such as how to fix items to different structures etc.If you have a small or medium modern GRP yacht and want maintenance / improvement advice then this book will disappoint. It's well written but the American style doesn't help.
