I have a build up of aluminum completely encasing 4-5 teeth of the blade. Is there a best way to remove this apparently melted on aluminum?

Sounds like your blade is dull or you are feeding it into the blade too quickly or a combination of both. You can probably remove the aluminum with a "pick" tool of some sort.

my DeWalt saw has a 5/8 arbor. Does your blade come with a shim?
