Great AC!
Love this air conditioner and going to probably buy a second one here soon for my living room. I replaced my Black + Decker for a smaller BTU AC because it would constantly trip my breaker. The 8000 stills cools my bedroom down significantly and I can run multiple things without tripping my breaker! I also love that I can use my phone to control the AC when I'm not home for my pets, even for vacations. This was something I struggled with on my old AC and I really wanted something I could control remotely. You can also set a timer, have sleep mode, control the fan level, and ofc set your desired temperature. So far, I haven't had to drain the AC after using it for a few weeks which is awesome. Setting up also took us only 15 min, and it's super easy to do in comparison to window AC's. As far as noise, it can be a little bit loud but it's just typical AC noise unfortunately. Thankfully, you can change the fan level to make it a little quiet and there's sleep mode as well. I consider it as white noise anyway, so I'm alright with it.

Best AC unit I've ever used, gets COLD, VERY FAST
Best air conditioner I've ever owned. Had never heard of this brand, but the very uncommon high percentage of good reviews, and the fair price, led me to try this model out. Over the last 21 years, I've owned 7 air conditioners. Two were window units and 5 were portable units with exhaust hose. Until I got this Dreo unit just over 3 months ago of a HOT summer, the window units I had were traditionally always more effective at cooling a room than the portable units. Heck, 3 of the 5 portable units I owned didn't even produce cool air after less than a couple weeks of use. And prior to the Dreo, the other one I owned made it thru 3 summers, but didn't get all that cold, despite being a 10k BTU unit and the Dreo I got is only 8k BTU. But it gets COLD, and VERY fast. This 8k BTU Dreo portable unit puts out colder air than all 6 of the previous AC units I've owned. And those used more power too, 10k BTU each. The "swing" feature is also VERY effective at wafting the cold air all over the room, without need of a separate fan to move it all around. Very, very effective unit. The Android app is great; easier to use than the remote control, especially in the dark. I also like how you can turn off the unit's display completely, and the chime sound, to maje it easier to sleep. And the "sleep" setting is actually to make the compressor quieter and turn off and on again less frequently, making it easier to sleep thru.

Works well. Fair price. Mid-low noise.
Looks good. There is nothing good about a standing air conditioner. Landlord made us do it. But this one looks good, performs well. Keeps a 12x18 foot room cool. Not very noisy. Electric bills not outrageous. More than a window unit, but not awful. It is easy to use, remember to empty the water as the humidity builds. The air filters are easy to clean, as well. You can attach it to an up-and-down-sliding window or a side-crank. I researched a dozen and made the right call. I got black so it wouldn't look like I had a toilet in the living room! ha And it really does melt into the surroundings.

Moderate cooling for small spaces
This AC doesn’t claim to cool more than 150 sq ft, so don’t expect it to cool an entire living space. It was fine to install, though it may take two people to get it framed correctly in the window, and it does produce chilled air. If you’re in a hot climate, I’d recommend turning it on first thing in the morning rather than fighting an uphill battle against an already warm room. It will not win that war. It’s small enough that it tucks out of the way in the corner and it rolls easily, though the window connection means that it might not be worth it to remove the unit during the winter. The description states that the unit is “whisper quiet,” which is definitely not the case. It’s about what you’d expect from a machine that has an internal fan and cooling mechanism.

Fills the Room with Super Cold Air in Just Minutes!
No wonder all the great reviews, I compared, read reviews and selected this one and I’m very happy I did. The instructions are very easy to follow, not intimidating. Once on, the cold air is perfect and the noise level is like a fan, not too loud. The remote lets you adjust the temp, fan speed and even the vents to direct the air. And the weatherstripping for the sliding window is just perfect, peel and stick, and quite a lot so ou have extra. The literature keeps reminding you that if you have an difficulties or questions please call them. This a/c is much better than I expected.

Cools well - but BEWARE if buying for NURSERY
This AC unit was great for the first week - easy to install and relatively quiet for a portable AC (MUCH better compared to an earlier brand we bought and had to return). We bought this specifically for our small nursery where our baby sleeps, where there is a fire exit that cannot accommodate a window AC. Hence, we were so happy to have found a good portable option. Unfortunately, after the first week of use - the AC began making an intermittent, loud, cracking or popping noise throughout the night. If it was us we might be able to manage, but our baby is not able to sleep through the random loud pops and its been disturbing his nights. Frankly, it would probably impact an adult who has light sleep as well. After reaching out to DREO, they told us this was normal and expected noise - which doesn't seem right given the regular noise that occurs is relatively light and white noise like (fine for baby) but this is on and off and very startling in nature. We're worried now that it's summer and need to find a solution ASAP - and ultimately may not be able to use this despite the $$ we spent on it.

Worth the price tag
Single best purchase ive made all year! I have a very small 11x13 room that was converted from an office to a bedroom. It does not have a hot air return vent and the vent delivering the cold air is poorly implemented giving me about 10% of the air flow the rest of the house's vents get. I also have a PC that stays on a lot in this room that leaves the room hovering around 80 degrees at all times. This unit was worth every penny. It knocks my 80 degree room down to 68 in minutes, is multiple times quieter than the old window unit I had last year, works much better than my window unit since the radiator is in a window well. Since this just exhausts the heat to the window well instead of relying on the air in the window well for cooling the radiator the performance is that much better than a window unit in my case. It was incredibly easy to install compared to my window unit, and the app control and temperature readout from the app are such a nice luxury. If you have a small room in a basement with poor ventilation and a window well, this unit is perfect for you. Ive had it running for 50 hours now and havent had to drain it a single time. Im absolutely in love with this unit.

Really good unit, with great functionality and app
I purchased this DREO after returning a GE unit, which was a similar price, but had numerous bad designs and faults. I wasn't familiar with DREO products but I've been very impressed. Context: We're using this 8000 BTU unit in a medium sized bedroom. We live in a south-facing apartment with large windows in the Pacific Northwest: our apartment gets really hot and humid in the summer. Overall / cooling: This unit is really good. It's a great size for a bedroom; not so large that it dominates the space, but large enough to effectively cool the room very well. It's certainly not large enough to cool our entire apartment however, so if you're looking to cool a really large area I'd definitely look at something bigger than 8,000 BTU. The unit has self-evaporation, so you shouldn't need to drain the unit or use a hose outlet (unless you're using the dehumidifier mode). We've been running the unit continuously for 200h and haven't had to drain it yet. If you do need to drain it, the unit switches off and warns you, which is helpful. Volume: The unit is really quiet in comparison to the much cheaper 8000 BTU Arctic King unit we previously owned, and the GE 12000 BTU unit we returned. We sleep with it on all night, and it doesn't disturb us at all. When the compressor cycles on or off there's a slight volume change, but it's very minor. We typically sleep with a tower fan running all night, and this AC unit is barely any louder. Functions/app: The unit has the best range of functions + app that I've experienced. The unit itself has touch buttons which allow you to do most things, except set the schedule (which needs to be done via the app). It also has a really good remote that has the same functionality. The device has 3 fan speeds and 3 modes (fan, dehumidify, cool). We keep it set to cool mode, and set the unit to run the fan constantly. You can also set the device so the fan only comes on when the compressor is running, but we keep the fan running constantly to keep air moving. The unit can do celcius and farenheit, it has an eco mode and a sleep mode. The sleep mode adjusts the temperature overnight, so the room warms up slightly towards the morning; you can dial in the specific sleep temperatures via the app. The app itself is really good; very easy to navigate, allows you to control the device from anywhere, and tells you the current ambient temperature now and historically (this is great for us as we have pets, so it's good to know if the apartment has been getting too hot). You can also track your usage, and it'll inform you when the filter needs to be cleaned. The app schedule is really good, allowing you to set specific actions (e.g.: turn on cooling to 68 degrees, or turn unit off, or turn on fan) on specific days and/or times. Install kit: The window install kit is the best I've seen. It's super easy to put together, it comes with all the additional foam insulation you might need, and the components to hold the window kit together are all metal, rather than the cheap plastic parts that most come with (and inevitably snap). The one poor design element is how the exhaust tube connects to the window panel; this is with plastic clips that are super tight. They seem like a major weak point in the design and I'll be really careful when I disconnect the hose from the window. For that reason, if you're looking for a unit that you want to frequently move or disconnect from a window, this might not be the right one. Support: Lastly, I had a question about the product and contact customer services. They replied within 24 hours with all the info I needed; much better than my experience with GE who've outsourced all of their customer services to a different company.

Easy to clean, set up, and use - saved my life
Bought the 8000 BTU, loved it so much, bought the 14000 BTU as well. The AC is as told - quiet and quick cooling! There was noise that développed later on, so, I checked the manual and they advised me to clean the filter. After cleaning the filter it operated quietly again! If you download the app (which is amazing! It recommends when you should clean the filter, you can access their FAQ and user manual digitally, turn your machine on and off when you're away from home). The filter is easy to clean because you can separate it into two pieces. The placard you put in your window is easy to set up as well (it has bolts to set the pieces in place so that it doesn't keep sliding). All in all, really happy with the machine. I've been using it for a month now.

Good unit, but noisier than advertised
Pretty straightforward setup and operation. Seems well made, cooled the room down fairly quickly. However, it's noisier than the 45db advertised. Using the NIOSH SLM app on an iphone, measured from 6 feet, the fan alone was 49.7db: on cool setting, with fan on low it measured 52.4db; on medium 55.0db; and 56.4 on high. At 16 feet, in cool mode with fan on low, it measured 49.5db. One of the main reasons I chose this unit was the stated noise level, so these numbers are somewhat disappointing. However, as I said, it seems well made and does the job, and returning it without access to a vehicle is a serious hassle, so I'll keep it.

Money well spent!!!
I was pleasantly surprised by how well this unit cools. After properly sealing the window and optimizing the exhaust hose, it cooled my bedroom so well that I had to raise the temperature to 74°F because it became too cold! Even on the lowest fan speed, it cools efficiently without needing an additional fan. It's a bit loud on high, but that's expected for a portable AC. Overall, I'm extremely happy with this purchase and highly recommend it.

Works very well I have 3 level town house with AC but my bedroom has a hard time cooling because I am missing some vents do to the open concept main level I keep this unit in my closet and use it on the hot nights it takes about 15/20 mins to cool a 18x18 room after about 10 mins the house AC shuts down i recommend this unit 100% Only thing it would be nice if we could vent it with out being in a window
