Worth the price tag
Single best purchase ive made all year! I have a very small 11x13 room that was converted from an office to a bedroom. It does not have a hot air return vent and the vent delivering the cold air is poorly implemented giving me about 10% of the air flow the rest of the house's vents get. I also have a PC that stays on a lot in this room that leaves the room hovering around 80 degrees at all times. This unit was worth every penny. It knocks my 80 degree room down to 68 in minutes, is multiple times quieter than the old window unit I had last year, works much better than my window unit since the radiator is in a window well. Since this just exhausts the heat to the window well instead of relying on the air in the window well for cooling the radiator the performance is that much better than a window unit in my case. It was incredibly easy to install compared to my window unit, and the app control and temperature readout from the app are such a nice luxury. If you have a small room in a basement with poor ventilation and a window well, this unit is perfect for you. Ive had it running for 50 hours now and havent had to drain it a single time. Im absolutely in love with this unit.

Great AC!
Love this air conditioner and going to probably buy a second one here soon for my living room. I replaced my Black + Decker for a smaller BTU AC because it would constantly trip my breaker. The 8000 stills cools my bedroom down significantly and I can run multiple things without tripping my breaker! I also love that I can use my phone to control the AC when I'm not home for my pets, even for vacations. This was something I struggled with on my old AC and I really wanted something I could control remotely. You can also set a timer, have sleep mode, control the fan level, and ofc set your desired temperature. So far, I haven't had to drain the AC after using it for a few weeks which is awesome. Setting up also took us only 15 min, and it's super easy to do in comparison to window AC's. As far as noise, it can be a little bit loud but it's just typical AC noise unfortunately. Thankfully, you can change the fan level to make it a little quiet and there's sleep mode as well. I consider it as white noise anyway, so I'm alright with it.

Best on the market
I have had a few different portable AC’s. This one hits every mark. It’s relatively quiet, has a great app, and doesn’t kill your power bill. It’s remote is user friendly, and it will absolutely freeze you out. Mine is in my bedroom and it has helped it stay cooler in hot summer months. It will get louder if you don’t clean the filters, but a quick clean and it’s back in action.

Excellent portable AC unit, except it broke 3 weeks later
I've had an portable AC unit before and it was nice. However this Dreo is great. I love how easy it is to place the panels in your window frame and adjust the length to fill the gaps on the long end. The cooling mode is great in that i don't have to drain any water. I guess it self evaporates any condensation. The dehumidifier is an extra bonus. I'm able to remove the humidity to some degree and the unit still blows cold air. However, in this mode, they recommend using the drain hose and drain the water to a container. Depending where the unit is, you may be able to place the drain hose leading outside of the house. I wouldn't exactly call it quiet, but it's not so bad either. My dogs and I are able to sleep through the fan/compressor noise. I don't use the wireless remote really because the Android app has controls and visual feedback. You can adjust the temperature setting and fan speed from the app. It shows what mode it is in, current temperature, though i believe it shows the temperature around the unit itself, not the actual room ambient temperature. So it's kind of misleading. Maybe if it had a remote temperature sensor like how my Ecobee thermostat has, then it would be even a better AC unit. Dreo, I hope you're reading this! It shows daily or monthly usage time. Scheduler to turn on/off the unit at specific times and period of time to start and stop. The specs say it's 1500watts. I'm using a power monitoring plug and so far I haven't seen it go over 1100watts. We'll at least in the last 3 weeks of use. So the Dreo AC stopped cooling. It took almost an hour wondering why i could not cool my room. Then i realized i can hear the compressor turn on, then maybe 10 seconds or so later it would turn off. I was monitoring the power and i could see it was drawing about 1100watts, then it would slowing rise to 1200-1300, then i could hear the compressor start working harder, then it would shut off. The power meter shows it shot up to 1600+watts. I chatted with Amazon support and they had me return the unit. Unfortunately they didn't have a replacement so i got a full refund. I ended up buying the Dreo 12,000 BTU unit which was about $30 more than the 10,000 BTU. it too, only draws ~1100 watts or slightly less. So far the new Dreo has been working great.

Love it!!!
This portable AC is awesome. My son set it up for me, and overall it was pretty easy. I bought the used option, and I honestly can’t even tell it was ever opened. It looked great and works perfectly, so it was an amazing value for the money. The only challenge was getting it installed into the window panel kit because the large hose does require some space, but once it was set up, it worked amazingly well. It has taken my warm room from uncomfortable to almost freezing in barely any time. It cools the entire room quickly, and the remote is really convenient. The settings are easy to change, and I love that it can oscillate if I want it to. This has been a real game changer, especially because the AC in my house does not distribute evenly to every room. I would definitely buy it again and highly recommend it to others.

Great investment to cool a small space
I live in a large apartment (1200 sq ft) with no central air. We’re also not allowed to have an AC unit more than 10000 BTU. My unit has floor to ceiling windows on a wall that faces the morning sun, so when it hits 70 outside, it’s 85 inside. Closing blinds and having blackout curtains with multiple fans running did nothing, so I decided to invest in a higher end portable AC unit. I couldn’t be happier. This is quiet but powerful, cooling my 2 front rooms by 10 degrees within an hour on a medium speed. It has a swing feature to help move the cool air around and the app is helpful to set timers for on/off. The app will also tell you the inside ambient temperature, which is helpful. I’m someone who hates sleeping with white noise on and, on its lowest setting (not even sleep mode), it’s quiet enough for me to sleep with it on. I’ve only run it on and off for 3 days, so I can’t speak to any electric bill changes, but I bought 8000 BTU over 10000 BTU because of energy use concerns. It doesn’t take up too much space, but it is pretty heavy. There are wheels on the bottom, but they don’t do well on carpet. If you’re moving it on a hard floor, it should be much easier to move from room to room. You definitely won’t be hauling it up and down stairs, unless you can comfortably lift 50 pounds. The pieces to install on a window that it came with seem to be high quality and they included both adhesive foam and non adhesive foam to keep drafts from coming in around the window vent, but I can’t review this part fairly because I have crank out, casement windows that required a different kind of installation.

Great portable air conditioner
This item was a game changer. Very simple installation. Keeps the room cool and does not need to be drained. I have had it for well over a month tonight and I have had no problems.

Cools a medium sized room.
This A/C is very heavy and takes two people or a hand truck to move it. It runs quietly, though I do hear it when it shuts off or cycles on. It cools a medium sized room adequately, though it doesn't propel the cold air very far into the room. The humidistat in my bedroom also measures temp, and it sits by the door and only comes down a few degrees when the unit is on. I haven't received my electric bill yet so unsure of what it's costing on a monthly basis. I don't regret buyit.

Really good unit, with great functionality and app
I purchased this DREO after returning a GE unit, which was a similar price, but had numerous bad designs and faults. I wasn't familiar with DREO products but I've been very impressed. Context: We're using this 8000 BTU unit in a medium sized bedroom. We live in a south-facing apartment with large windows in the Pacific Northwest: our apartment gets really hot and humid in the summer. Overall / cooling: This unit is really good. It's a great size for a bedroom; not so large that it dominates the space, but large enough to effectively cool the room very well. It's certainly not large enough to cool our entire apartment however, so if you're looking to cool a really large area I'd definitely look at something bigger than 8,000 BTU. The unit has self-evaporation, so you shouldn't need to drain the unit or use a hose outlet (unless you're using the dehumidifier mode). We've been running the unit continuously for 200h and haven't had to drain it yet. If you do need to drain it, the unit switches off and warns you, which is helpful. Volume: The unit is really quiet in comparison to the much cheaper 8000 BTU Arctic King unit we previously owned, and the GE 12000 BTU unit we returned. We sleep with it on all night, and it doesn't disturb us at all. When the compressor cycles on or off there's a slight volume change, but it's very minor. We typically sleep with a tower fan running all night, and this AC unit is barely any louder. Functions/app: The unit has the best range of functions + app that I've experienced. The unit itself has touch buttons which allow you to do most things, except set the schedule (which needs to be done via the app). It also has a really good remote that has the same functionality. The device has 3 fan speeds and 3 modes (fan, dehumidify, cool). We keep it set to cool mode, and set the unit to run the fan constantly. You can also set the device so the fan only comes on when the compressor is running, but we keep the fan running constantly to keep air moving. The unit can do celcius and farenheit, it has an eco mode and a sleep mode. The sleep mode adjusts the temperature overnight, so the room warms up slightly towards the morning; you can dial in the specific sleep temperatures via the app. The app itself is really good; very easy to navigate, allows you to control the device from anywhere, and tells you the current ambient temperature now and historically (this is great for us as we have pets, so it's good to know if the apartment has been getting too hot). You can also track your usage, and it'll inform you when the filter needs to be cleaned. The app schedule is really good, allowing you to set specific actions (e.g.: turn on cooling to 68 degrees, or turn unit off, or turn on fan) on specific days and/or times. Install kit: The window install kit is the best I've seen. It's super easy to put together, it comes with all the additional foam insulation you might need, and the components to hold the window kit together are all metal, rather than the cheap plastic parts that most come with (and inevitably snap). The one poor design element is how the exhaust tube connects to the window panel; this is with plastic clips that are super tight. They seem like a major weak point in the design and I'll be really careful when I disconnect the hose from the window. For that reason, if you're looking for a unit that you want to frequently move or disconnect from a window, this might not be the right one. Support: Lastly, I had a question about the product and contact customer services. They replied within 24 hours with all the info I needed; much better than my experience with GE who've outsourced all of their customer services to a different company.

Easy to clean, set up, and use - saved my life
Bought the 8000 BTU, loved it so much, bought the 14000 BTU as well. The AC is as told - quiet and quick cooling! There was noise that développed later on, so, I checked the manual and they advised me to clean the filter. After cleaning the filter it operated quietly again! If you download the app (which is amazing! It recommends when you should clean the filter, you can access their FAQ and user manual digitally, turn your machine on and off when you're away from home). The filter is easy to clean because you can separate it into two pieces. The placard you put in your window is easy to set up as well (it has bolts to set the pieces in place so that it doesn't keep sliding). All in all, really happy with the machine. I've been using it for a month now.

Very Happy with this!
This has made all the difference in my room, cools my bedroom down quickly, has the three different options. It also is placed right in front of my tv and I can still hear the tv perfectly The app is also amazing, I can turn it off when I’m at work and on super hot days turn it on an hour before I head home to cool it down for me. Lots of options and the app also lets you know when and how to clean the filter!

Good....although tweaks necessary....
I purposely waited a month before writing this review because I wanted to be fair and experience the device before commenting. While I won't dispute the many 5-star review about the unit's cooling abilities, there are other areas that aren't so great. To begin: I've never really understood the term 'portable' with these devices suggesting you can easily move it from room to room because it's on wheels. There's a problem with that thinking.....there's the not so tiny issue of the hose tethering the device to a convenient window. While I applaud DREO's engineers for the lovely coupling they created for the hose-to-machine scenario, unfortunately they didn't carry it through to the hose-to-window accessories. My hose poppoed out of the window unit in less than 24-hours with a distinct and very loud POP at midnight in the middle of a sweltering heat wave. Wrestling the hose back into the window aperture was really a barrel of laughs....NOT. The coupling is now secured with the requisite lengths of tape which seemingly adorn all portable AC units I've ever seen.....so exactly what makes this PORTABLE except for the wheels. In terms of the unit itself....it cools very quickly and efficiently but any notion anyone has that this unit is quiet enough for a bedroom....sorry, it's not. I've had mine set to AUTO for the entire month and I can tell you that when the engine cycles to full cool mode, you can definitely feel and hear the rumble.....both of which have woken me repeatedly. I suspect it will do better in the main portion of my apartment next summer.....definitely not the bedroom. Additionally, the remote device I received didn't work.....although DREO support staff replaced it quickly and efficiently and FYI....responded to the support request within hours so they've got great customer service. Just need to up their game regard to the hose-to-window coupling!!
