Monterey LG6150 Garden Insect Spray, Insecticide & Pesticide with Spinosad Concentrate, 16 oz

I can’t say enough good things about the Monterey LG6150 Garden Insect Spray! This stuff is a total lifesaver for my organic garden. I’ve been battling caterpillars and thrips on my veggies and flowers for weeks, and after just one application of this Spinosad concentrate, I saw results within days. It’s fast, it’s natural, and it’s now a permanent part of my gardening toolkit. If you’re looking for a pesticide that works without harsh chemicals, this is it! Mixing it up was super simple—just a couple of tablespoons per gallon of water in my sprayer, and I was good to go. The 16 oz bottle goes a long way, too—I’ve treated my entire garden (veggies, ornamentals, and even my fruit trees) and still have plenty left. Spinosad is a great insecticide for the right critters but remember that it needs to be ingested to be effective (by the bugs, not you :). It is not a contact killer. Use on thrips, leaf miners, caterpillars, etc. It can be used as a spray and can be mixed with a wetting agent or a mild dish soap and used as a soil drench. When using as a drench, it will typically raise PH, so it is important to adjust accordingly. I will break into Spinosad products before turning to heavier hitting insecticides because it is a more natural product and is considered to be organic. It should be effective within 1-3 days. You may need to reapply several times for complete effectiveness. If you do not see the first signs of results within 72 hours, you more than likely have a bug Spinosad can't help with and it is time to change attack strategies. The Monterey brand is a good all around brand. Their formulas are effective and their pricing point is very good. Compared to hydro store and grow specific products, the Monterey brand line-up tends to be more effective and much cheaper.

I purchased this because I didn't want to use toxic chemicals on my vegetables. It seems to be working very well at keeping insects at bay. It's easy enough to mix up a batch, but I wish they would have included a small measuring spoon or made the cap a measure. When mixing a small batch it only requires 1/2 an ounce, which is not easy to measure. There are capacity lines on the side of the bottle, but I think it's more for you to be able to tell how much is left in the bottle rather than how much you are using. You also want to be careful and use it late in the day. It kills the bees if they try to feed while the plants are wet. I don't know if it's harmful to them after it dries, but I know I actually saw two bees die when they accidentally got sprayed because I didn't realize they were on the plant.

Most people think that keeping an organic garden free of pests is a difficult task, but that doesn't have to be the case! This product contains a naturally occurring insecticidal compound formed by bacteria called spinosad. It is highly effective at killing most insects and caterpillars that will wreak havoc in your garden. We used a combination of this Monterey garden insecticide to kill adult insects and caterpillars, and bought mosquito bits that contain bacillus thuriengis israeliensis to create a tea that we could use to water the soil to eliminate the larvae of fungus gnats. It was a highly effective combination and it really helped keep our first ever garden pest free until harvest! Please read the instructions first, it does need to be diluted. Reading other reviews, it's astounding to me that so many people have such a difficult time reading a product label and/or measuring liquid and adding water. It's not that complicated! If you are comfortable measuring and can pour water, this is the product for you! I highly recommend!

This is the best product ever!!!!! My potatoes were severely infested with the Colorado potato beetle. I mixed it exactly as directed on the bottle and sprayed my potatoes early in the morning and when I checked on them the next morning there was not a beetle to be found. The spray killed all of the larvae and the eggs on the underside of the leaves. My 88 year old father, who has had a garden every year for most of his life was absolutely amazed. He said he had never seen anything work so well and so quick. He always took a bucket of water and tried to knock the beetles into the bucket to kill them or used a potent pesticide like Sevin dust but said even that did not work half as good as this has done. Knowing that this is an organic pest control product makes me even happier. I will have this on hand every year. Thanks to YouTube videos for leading me to it and Amazon for stocking it. It also includes a very informative booklet that lets you know which vegetables, fruits, herbs and flowers that it can be sprayed onto.

This did not kill all the larvae and I have no idea if it killed any adult potato beetles. It did kill some larvae, but others kept eating leaves like I didn't even spray. It also had NO lasting affect. Larvae that hatched a day or two later did not die from eating the treated leaves.

I live in Alabama..... ground zero for the national fire ant infestation. These ants are relentless. They bite, sting, and build gigantic mounds all over the place. You disturb their nest and they either rebuild bigger or move 10ft across the yard. I have tried boiling water. I have tried fire. I have tried yelling and screaming and stomping feet. Nothing seemed to work... that is. Until I discovered this stuff. (Honestly though. I haven't tried very many different kinds of treatments because I do not want to spray poison in my yard. I only tried this stuff because it is certified organic and safe enough to spray directly on vegetable gardens) I treated 6 mounds and the effects were at first startling followed by a sense of confusion and then finishing with amazement! I mixed the concentrated liquid with water as instructed for a 2gal watering can. I then soaked the area around each mound with about 1/2 the contents and then soaked the mound with the remaining 1/2. As I soaked the mound, the dirt on the top started to dissolve away exposing the top layer of the nest (as anticipated). This caused a flurry of activity within the mound. The exposed ants started to act erratically. Ants started to emerge from within and tried to rescue their larva. It seemed the whole nest would emerge. My kids and I watched as thousands upon thousands of ants surfaced. It was truly a spectacle to behold and somewhat terrifying. After I made my initial rounds across all of the mounds I then mixed up some more. I finished by pouring another 1/2 can on top of each of the now exposed mounds/ants. At first the ants weren't dying instantly like I thought they would. Some actually seemed to settle down and would stop freaking out. I thought I just angered them and would face similar mound relocations. Regardless. I told the kids to leave the poor ants alone and let nature take its >altered< course. I checked in throughout the day and noticed that activity around the all of the mounds settled back down. There were some dead ants around the mounds but it seemed as if most retreated back into their nests. Confusion was settling in. It almost seemed less effective than boiling water at this point. The next day is when the realization started to settled in. When I checked up on the squatters in my yard.... their nests looked like literal ghost towns. Everything dried out and there was no activity anywhere. I poked the remains of the mounds.... nothing. Not one ant. Ok, so now either they were dead or they moved. Fire ants normally repair their mounds by the next day or resurface in a week or two. There hasn't been any new mounds in the month and a half since I treated my yard. I am soooo happy with the results that I am buying more of this stuff. There were a couple mounds that I was not able to treat because I ran out of the spinosad. The remaining mounds have remained largely undisturbed. And are growing. I am lulling them into a sense of security because I am about to unleash a torrent of judgement juice on them! AND I CANNOT WAIT TO DO IT!

My large Viburnum tinus (Laurustinus) bush, (8 feet tall) became infested with Thrips last year. I confirmed the infestation by taking an infested leaf to my local Botanical Garden where the insect was identified. The gardener indicated I should spray the plant with Spinosad. I purchased Monterey LG6150 Garden Insect Spray, Insecticide & Pesticide with Spinosad Concentrate,16 Oz from Amazon in October of 2020 and began spraying my plant every 3 days with a mixture of 1Tbs concentrate in 32 oz. of water. I continued this treatment for 1 month, until I could no longer see Thrips on the leaves. I subsequently decreased the process to 1 spraying every week and continued for a month. It has now been 6 months with no Thrips. The plant has almost renewed it's growth entirely with nice healthy leaves. Even so, every once in-a-while I check for Thrips, but so far my precious Viburnum tinus is doing great. I'm so glad I chose to treat with Spinosad instead of cutting down the plant.

Bought this to quell a fairly intense flea beetle outbreak affecting cabbages, rocket and a large area of my garden. Took two applications but it definitely did the job. Expensive but it does work. If you’re killing beetles you’ll also need nematodes to zap the larval stage. Expensive again but all organic and does harm the earthworms and nearly everything else does.

Works miracles. You can actually see it kill the bugs on your plants in seconds and is really easy to mix. I had a large thrips infestation and was worried I’d lose lots of my houseplants but as soon as I sprayed this on my plants it started working and bugs that were moving around before were completely dead in seconds. Works almost instantly. Great value for money. And helps protect your plants from pests. Just be careful with friendly insects and bees as it will also kill them so I’d recommend moving your outdoor plants into a shed or greenhouse to protect the nice bugs and pollinators. 10/10

It stops cabbage white butterfly from laying eggs

so i'm no gardener, in fact i didn't buy this product for gardening or veggies. i keep some pet chickens which have been overrun with mites, and i have spent months and an excessive amount of money buying all purpose made products for the problem. biggest issue being that half the products available are just repellents and do naff all. a month later and we were still overrun with chicken mites. I then started reading about this product in america containing spinosad. sadly being in the uk getting the american product here was a no go, so i thought i would try the next closest thing in the uk and honestly i went on a complete whim here. 1 week later and the mite infestation is minimal. It could be the combination of the treatments i have accumulated nut either way it freaking worked! if this worked on my problem i have no doubt that this will sort any pest problem you have. just be watchful of bees though. seems completely safe for birds from what i've seen.
