Perfect, it exceeded my expectations.
Perfect, 1,2 mm stainless steel wire with .3 mm coating. Very easy to use, wire crimps work perfectly with proper crimping tool. Makes for a professional looking and strong picture hanger. Some reviews state that it does not work for twisting, true it is designed to be used with the supplied wire crimps. Stainless steel is tensioned and stiff even without the covering, even bare it does not twist well. It's what makes it stronger than regular Twisted steel picture wire which is more malleable and easily twisted.. Also some questions about strength rating. Again it's stainless steel wire, 1 mm is rated at 100 lbs which is half its breakage point. The weak spot is the crimps, if you use pliers you just end up smashing the crimp rather than properly compressing, especially since the wire is coated.

Great wire
Great wire! We used this to hang art from a ceiling for a gallery opening. It was extremely easy to use, it fit perfectly in the sleeves and held on strong! We had a piece that was 45lb. We used two strings to attach it and it’s hanging on strong! Great product. Love that it’s vinyl coated so it’s really easy to manage and does not poke you. Will definitely buy again for our future gallery openings.

DELETE THE 1 STAR REVIEWS
Amazon really needs to do a better job of filtering out negative reviews that are the buyers fault and not the products. All the 1 star reviews should be deleted, apparently none of them bothered to read the description before purchasing this wire. Spoiler alert, the wire has a pvc coating on it... I guess none of them wondered why this wire comes with aluminum crimps, one of the reviews says they shredded the wire trying to cut it and the frayed end wouldn't fit through the sleeve. Yeah that's it, blame the wire because you were probably using arts and crafts scissors to cut it. Another reviewer gave it 1 star because there was no information printed on the packaging or spool, I suppose by that logic if it's printed on the packaging then it must be true, you get what you pay for and the manufacturer obviously cut costs by not wasting time on fancy packaging that's going to be torn off and disposed of anyway. The ignorance and lack of common sense never ceases to amaze me... The wire and crimps "sleeves" are exactly as described and worked as intended. If you understand why there's a plastic coating on this wire and what the crimps are for then I would recommend this product, if you have no clue what they're for then this is definitely not the product for you. Stop leaving negative reviews based off your own ignorance people, all it does is waste everyone else's time trying to find a reputable product.

Strong with sleeves
I was looking for primarily picture hanging wire. I have a 120 by 120 centimeter canvas on frame (roughly 4ft. by 4 ft.) and it weighs 18 pounds. This wire is overkill for that purpose, but I didn't correlate weight rating with wire flexibility right away. It seems the aluminum sleeves are essential for this wire because it isn't possible to create a knot against itself. The wire is not flexible enough to bend sharply and twist, and stainless steel resists those movements, especially with this diameter. So, with the aluminum sleeves, crimped with pliers, this wire is suitable for heavy objects, for sure. For lighter objects up to, let's say, 20 or 30 pounds, a smaller diameter wire is better. Now I need to think of heavy things to hang, like mirrors or pictures with a lot of glass. This wire seems very strong and suited for that purpose. I put a white sticky on the spool and wrote the diameter and weight rating since the spool came unmarked.

Great Product
Coated cable arrived very fast, well packaged and very neat on a spool with no kinks, knots or anything else that could potentially cause any problems - even the sleeves were packaged carefully and with thought as to how they would be used. I use this coated cable to hang fairly heavy frames and on this count, it could not be any better. If you need a very good coated cable that is both strong and economical, you cannot do any better.

Ouch
Very strong wire. Tried cutting it with a standard wire stripper using the cutting section. That did not work at all. Also tried using standard scissors. This did work eventually after sawing at it for about two minutes straight. Cut the hell out of my hands as each Individual wire broke then scraped against my skin. If you're gonna use this be sure to buy good wire cutting sheers. I used a link from a YouTube video to get to this item. It was not the same item the guy used in his video. His wire was easily cut and he could twist the ends to secure them. You need to clamp this wires ends. You cannot twist it to secure them. Other than that this is a good product. It's just not what I thought I was getting. My hands feel horrible after fighting with it so much to cut them. Lesson learned. Buy proper equipment and do your research thoroughly.

What an ordeal
I thought finding a proper cable to hang my new painting was going to be easy. Is it me or does it seem Amazon makes finding what u want more difficult than need be? The filters could definitely use some work. Anyway here's the deal. This cable cut clean and quick with my cheap wire strippers but those strippers weren't good enough for the clamps. Vise grips worked really well. U clamp it the best u can then tighten the screw adjustment a half turn or so then clamp again. Might take 4 to 5 times but it's never ever ever coming off. My painting is 40"x26" and I'm telling u the frame will break before the cable gives. I realize it says it's rated at 150lbs+ but I thought it was perfect. If u don't have strippers, crimpers or vice grips, search for the crimpers on here 1st. A lot of the good pairs come with a cable spool and clamps. Search: cable crimper. This size is 1/16" or 1.5mm. Don't go bigger on the clamps because it would just make crimping a pain and is unnecessary

Worked as Described
Wire was good and clips to crimper worked as described. We have this holding up a 40lbs wood American flag in our house without issue. I've noticed a few people posting negative comments. You HAVE to have a crimping tool to properly crimp the clips. I purchased a kline tool with wire cutter for this and worked perfectly. This is metal cable with a light pack coating and scissors will not work.

I love it
I love it. The stuff is awesome. Just have to be careful as when you’re cutting the wire the little hands are very very sharp and will easily poke your fingers and it’s painful as a paper cup

Does not hold after being threaded through framing clips of a painting.
Received April 6th and used for the first time May 9, 2021 Used this for wiring a cradle board painting. Double threaded the plastic coated wired through the hanging clips and when wrapping the remaining 3" ends around itself, the wire totally unravelled making it unreliable and unsafe for hanging. What a disappointment and now unable to return. Not as advertised and certainly not interested in trying any of your other wire products. Suggest extending the return date.
