Stay away!
HATE HATE HATE this mattress! I have never woken up in such pain. I wish we could have returned it but we are stuck with it. If you are a bigger person as well, you will not be comfortable.

It's literally like sleeping on a cloud....I can never go back!
I recently got an adjustable base and wasn't happy with the mattress that I was using on it, so I was beyond thrilled to get a Tempur mattress. I can honestly say that it is one of the most well known mattresses for a reason. We have always preferred pillow top type mattresses. The softer it is, the better. This one is like a cloud. I can push my hand down into it because it's so cushy. It is just perfect for us. I usually get up once in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom and my husband would wake up every single time and have trouble going back to sleep with our old mattress because he could feel me move. With this one, you can't feel the person next to you toss and turn or even get up, so he's a really happy camper. This mattress isn't as thick as our old pillow top, so we can use regular sheets instead of buying the hard-to-find deep pocket ones. It bends easy with the adjustable base that we have and returns to it's flat state without leaving any creases in the mattress. The adjustable base that we have is low to the ground and you don't use a box spring with it, so the entire bed ends up being low to the ground as well even with the mattress on it. That doesn't bother me, but I wanted to mention it, just in case it matters to you. I highly recommend this mattress if you prefer a cloud-like sleeping experience. We are beyond happy with it.

May be too soft for some people
Not sure if you notice that most, if not all, these reviews come from people who somehow received this multi thousand dollar mattress for free. For me, this was not even in the top 5 mattress I've slept on. I thought I wanted an extra soft mattress but now that I've tried this, I'm not so sure. For reference, I am 5' 10" and weigh 160 poundsThe first day, I loved it. Its softness tricks you into thinking it's the perfect mattress. But with each passing day, I realized this mattress was not providing the necessary support for my spine. It started to feel like I was sleeping in a hammock of sorts. I would go the whole day with back pain and being hunched over because it hurt too much to stand up straight. Finally, I couldn't take the pain anymore and had to sleep on a different mattress. I laid on the other mattress and felt my spine crack all the way down. It was a bit painful falling asleep that night as my back had gotten used to the "hammock" style of laying down but the next morning, pain gone. I haven't had pain since I started sleeping on a different mattress. Just to make sure it wasn't chance, I did plan on going back to the TEMPUR-Legacy for a week but I couldn't make it to day 4 before needing to go back to the other mattress. The reason I don't give it one star is because it is soft like they advertise, it's just too soft to support some people. For others, it may be the perfect bed, just not in my case.

To sleep, perchance to dream...
The TEMPUR-Legacy Soft Mattress is exactly that - SOFT! Please make note of this if you are selecting a mattress. If you like a FIRM mattress, then you should look for a mattress with that in the description. That said, it is a very high-quality mattress. My wife and I tried a 'medium soft' mattress from one of those online-only places and, while it was constructed well, it simply was not comfortable. We then selected this mattress from TEMPUR-Pedic.From a quality perspective, this mattress is very well-constructed. I found no issues with regard to the stitching. The only thing I did not like was that the 'handles' used to move the mattress are stitched onto the bottom instead of the sides, which makes it a bit more difficult to maneuver. The 10" depth makes it perfect for most bed heights - it does not require the deep pocket sheets, and does not elevate our bed to the point we need a stepladder. At first, we thought this mattress might be TOO soft. However, given some time to get used to it, we have generally found it to be very supportive in the right places. We are both side sleepers, and no longer feel the bed shaking every time the other person flips over. This is a plus with a queen-sized bed, as motion transfer is hard to cover up. The mattress also does not "sleep hot" like the other mattress we tried, which is also good. With that previous mattress, I would wake up sweating like I was in a sauna. Why 4 stars? There are two reasons for the four stars instead of 5. The first is edge support. As a 250lb male, I often find myself 'drifting' to the side of this mattress. The lack of edge support makes me feel like I am about to roll out of bed, and sometimes causes me to wake up due to that feeling. Scooting over is a bit laborious, and I still feel like I'm 'falling' to the side. My wife does not quite have this same issue, so maybe if I lost 50lbs this would be a non-issue. But if you are a larger person, you should definitely consider this factor. I wish Tempur-Pedic could have maybe found a way to provide more edge support somehow. The second reason for removing a star is price. The cost of the Tempur-Pedic mattress as compared to other very similar products on the market is significantly higher. Perhaps I'm lacking understanding of what goes into the 'Tempur' material (gold?!), but it seems like maybe you are partly paying for the name. One final note - I did some research prior to receiving this mattress, and if you are using a traditional bed with wood slats, you should replace them! I purchased an adjustable steel base (Glideaway X-Support Bed Frame Support System, GS-3 XS Model - 3 Cross Rails and 3 Legs - Strong Center Support Base for Full, Queen and King Mattress, Box Springs, and Bed Foundations) and this made a SIGNIFICANT difference. We also purchased, separately, the queen-size foundation from Tempur-Pedic. Combined, this will prevent the mattress from sagging and gave it a firm foundation, which I think lends to the lack of motion transfer.Final note - if you can try this mattress out in a store, I would highly recommend it (then return to Amazon!). What some manufacturers call 'soft' vs what others call soft/medium/firm are very different. But you certainly can't go wrong with the quality of Tempur-Pedic.

I’d rate this 100-stars if I could! Cool, comfortable, deep, restful, sleep… amazing
I have been a big fan of Tempurpedic mattresses since buying our first one six years ago. I’ve also been lucky enough to get to review a number of different beds, including the Leesa, a Casper, a Sierra Sleep, and we personally own a Tempurpedic Cloud Supreme. The bottom line is that I haven’t recently tried a bed I haven’t enjoyed sleeping on… they’re all so good right now! But that said, none of the others seem to match the sleep I get in a Tempurpedic. Our Cloud Supreme is simply amazing… but the price makes it a tough sell and this TEMPUR-Legacy is SO comfortable (in slightly different ways) that if I had to buy a bed today, the Legacy is probably the one I’d go for.The TEMPUR-Legacy is soft, but pushes back on your frame in JUST the right places. After sleeping on the Legacy for a couple of weeks (both my wife and I, and we have VERY different body types/sizes/sleeping positions), we love this bed just about as much as our CloudSupreme, and WAY more than some of the other brands we’ve been testing lately. There is no valid comparison I can draw between a Casper, Leesa, etc. to the TEMPUR-Legacy. The Tempurpedic is better in every measurable way. Sleep in the TEMPUR-Legacy is deep and uninterrupted… I can’t feel my wife move at all and vice-versa. Neither one of us feel hot in the Legacy and there was no ‘break-in’ or adjustment period. The TEMPUR-Legacy is easy to get in to and out of, it doesn’t compress so far that you have to “roll” out of it.Some comments on the price: It’s difficult to explain to someone the difference between sleeping on a Tempurpedic and, really, ANY other bed. I’ve never felt as rested and peaceful than when sleeping on a Tempurpedic. You spend SO much of your life sleeping, and these beds are SO good and last SO long that, if you can swing it, this is one of the best investments you’ll ever make in yourself and your health. You don’t know how bad your current bed/sleep is until you get amazing sleep… and once you get it, you can’t go back.No question about it, it’s expensive. But it’s worth every. single. penny. you pay for it (and I don’t say that about much else in life). If you go for it, I also highly recommend using a Tempurpedic base for this mattress… they aren’t any more expensive than any other bed base and the regular and/or low-profile version is ‘just right’ for our bedroom furniture. Finally, the TEMPUR-Legacy’s warranty is TEN YEARS. So $300/year to get the best sleep you’ve ever dreamed of… this is not a purchase you’ll EVER regret.

Firmer Mattress, Lighter Wallet
Without a doubt, this is the most impressive mattress I have ever owned or used. I have used everything from relatively inexpensive foam mattresses that roll-up into a box to deluxe 12" memory foam mattresses with an additional 4" pillow top. None of them quite compared to this TEMPUR model though.I think that the main difference between this and most other brands I have tried is the balance it has between soft and firm. I would rate this mattress as being moderately firm, but not at all in the sense that it is uncomfortable or hard. The texture seems to have just the right amount of "give" to it. It does not have the "floating" sensation you will find with most pillow-top designs. It also does not suffer from the "sinking" feeling you get with mattresses that are way too soft. It has plenty of solid support while remaining extremely comfortable. The actual construction and design of the mattress is also first rate. You won't find any loose threads, bad stitching or thin material anywhere. It is very solidly built with a modern look that can be used with either a traditional box spring or alone on a platform bed. It also does not have any of the usual "new mattress" odor. The only downside to this mattress is the price, which is crazy expensive compared to anything else I have ever seen. If you can afford to splurge, this is definitely the model to get though.

A Great Nights Sleep
I purchased and have been sleeping on a Tempur Cloud Luxe for the past 8 years. It is a King size pillow top and very soft. It has developed "depressions" slowly over time. The middle of the bed feels like it has a hump in it. I think that is a problem inherent to most all mattresses. This Limited Edition Legacy mattress is similar in plushness and hopefully will be less prone to sagging over time. It makes it in at a lower price point but seems to feel very similar. The base layer seems to be the biggest difference.I can tell Tempur has made some refinements to the lineup in the last 8 years. The mattress components are a bit more robust and seem even better in qualities such as stain resistance, seams and stitching. I like the new look and feel. The dark grey base fabric is strong and durable and provides good friction and holding power to your fitted sheets. I like the design of it and prefer it to the beige soft fleece like fabric that was the previous style. It is easier to clean and keep clean should you get a stain on it. The sides are more rigid feeling with this as the outer jacket. The white top design is the Tempur classic round groove pattern that makes for good air circulation. The mattress is not hot to me. It is quite comfortable thru all seasons. Maybe it is the medium firm-ness. Maybe it is the newer design or ES material. I like it. The mattress seems to have more air circulation and heat dispersion. This is a fantastic mattress. I really don’t have any complaints about it. I would expect this mattress to easily last 10 plus years with a good protector on top. The queen size I think is less prone to “body depressions”. Hopefully this is able to be improved upon as well. I wouldn’t say Tempur mattresses are for everyone, but I do know that just about everyone that sleeps on one really likes it. I became a big fan 8 years ago and still find them to be my favorite.

The best -- very best -- of both worlds. Not too hard and not too soft. A marriage saver!
My husband and I have been married almost 19 years and during that time we have had "bed problems". We almost didn't get married when a week before the wedding we tried to go buy a bed for our new home. What kind of mattress to get was probably the worst argument we have ever had and ended in us leaving without buying anything. Since then every new mattress (there have been 5) is a compromise that really doesn't make either of us happy. I like a good solid "hard" mattress. He believes in super, super soft mattresses. Well, we finally a found a mattress that we can both agree on and that we love. This Tempur-Legacy mattress is incredibly comfortable and gives both of us a wonderful night's sleep. I feel like it is supporting me but is not like sleeping on a brick and I am not stuck at the bottom of a "softness trough" where I can't turn over. He said just today that there are no pressure points and he no longer has the back pain and shoulder pain that were a problem even on the soft, cushy mattress plus super soft and cushy topper pad we had been using. This mattress does give great comfortable support without creating pressure points. The description says it provides plush softness with adaptive support. I don't know how it does that but it works! It is a normal size and not too tall. It has a classic Tempur top and we are thrilled with it. It has our highest recommendation.
