Thin and stiff
This came in spot on at 1.3mm thick It has a matte looking finish. A couple of scuffs but only cosmetic...and it's going in my shoe, it's not going to look pretty for long. It's also very light weight but that's to be expected. The insert does flex under weight, but it does require a bit of force to do it. My toes don't apply enough force to do accomplish that. I'm not experienced with carbon fiber so I don't know if this normal. But whether or not that's normal, it still does the job of supporting my toes. My only complaint is that it is on the narrow side. I can feel the edge dig into my feet a little bit on either side.

Don't expect these to be comfortable, as that is not what they are for!
Before you purchase these, be very clear that they are not designed to allow your shoes to flex. They are designed to make the shoes stiff if you have a foot injury. They are actual carbon fiber, so trimming them isn't going to be easily done either. If you're looking for insoles to help you recover from a foot injury and want them to virtually eliminate bending of your shoes/feet while walking they will definitely do the job!

It is different from the insoles that are used inside the shoes
These materials are very hard; they donโt bend. They can be used for post-operation recovery to prevent your foot from bending. They are smooth, without sharp edges.

Hubs things they are helping
I made a video showing you what the Carbon Fiber inserts look like. Hubs has been using for a month now and he really thinks they are helping his toe pain issues a lot. He is using in both shoes to keep balanced. It did take a few days to get used to how they felt but to his surprise and pleasure he has not been plagued with pain after pickleball in his big toe which has been an ongoing issue for about a year. If he has any negative issues I will update.

Protection and base support for the feet.
Wow! I think these might be impenetrable. I have no concerns of potentially stepping on nails and puncturing my feet any more. The carbon fiber insoles should provide ample protection for the feet and are extremely rigid. I can not bend it, so I questioned how comfortable they might be. They actually provide excellent support when used in conjunction with a high arch support insole for those with flat feet. I place them between insoles and the mid soles of my sneakers and find that they are surprisingly comfortable and help alleviate any soreness through the arch of the foot and do not altar the stride of my gait. Excellent product.
