Easy-to-use, efficient, excellent!
This is a superb little kettle, and perfect for my needs. The five position thermostatic control, with settings for 50, 70, 80, 90, and 100C, has turned out to be far more useful, and money-saving, than Iโd expected. It has a small capacity, only 500ml, but thatโs why I wanted it. Itโs ideal for heating up water for tea, instant coffee, instant soups and the like. I learned a little while ago that, contrary to what Iโd supposed for decades, tea is better made with water that is below boiling, to avoid scalding the leaves. About 80 deg C is now said to be optimal. In the past, Iโd boiled water, made tea, then let it cool to drinkable temperature (or added more cold water). So I had been wasting electricity raising water to an unnecessary temperature. Curious, I measured the difference in consumption by boiling half a litre of water in my old (larger capacity) kettle, then the same volume in the Arendo kettle to bring it to 80C instead. Heating to 100C took 0.06kW energy, and to 80C took 0.03kW. Pretty much half the cost! (Some of the difference may be accounted for by the fact that the older kettle takes a few seconds longer for the thermostatic off-switch to kick in at 100C.) Although the kettleโs consumption rating is fairly conservative at 1.1kW, in practice it is quite quick to bring water up to the selected temperature, around a minute or so. Its small capacity means I never have to boil more than I need, so itโs easy and quick to make a brew with zero waste. The temperature settings are accurate, and I measured each of the 50-90 to be approximately 1C over the nominal value, which is excellent. The two settings I use most are 70, for instant coffee, and 80, for tea. I donโt use the 50 setting much as Iโve found that the optimum drinking temperature for me is about 60-65C. I use the 90C for instant soups as I like to let those sit for around ten minutes to develop texture and thicken anyway. I have a few minor gripes, but nothing that amounts to knocking off a star in the rating. Thereโs a fixed perforated filter, but it serves no real function as the perforations are way too big to retain limescale particles in hard water areas, and it slightly retards the flow. Iโd have preferred a hinged lid to the detached one, but itโs not a big inconvenience. Thereโs a โmaxโ water level mark inside, but Iโd have preferred it to be in line with the pouring spout, as Iโm left handed and itโs on the inside right, so not easily visible when I go to fill at the tap. Itโs not cheap compared to many other kettles, but itโs a joy to use, and in the longer run itโs more economical. I'm so glad I bought it. Recommended.

Really nice little kettle, boils quickly
I thought it would be difficult to leave a review about a kettle, but the Arendo 0.5l is absolutely great! Travel kettles are notoriously slow to boil and this was my main concern when looking through lists of products on Amazon - however the Arendo boils really quickly and holds plenty of water for two good sized cups of tea/coffee/ribena etc. The quality of the kettle is great with an easy to maintain stainless steel water vessel (no heating element to fur-up), the buttons are easy to operate and it sits nicely on the base station. Functions are easy to operate with various temperatures from 50 degrees up to 90 degrees for the keep warm function and 100 degrees for the boil (obviously the 100 degree setting doesn't have a continuous boil setting otherwise all your wall paper would be off the walls!). The heating functions are selected via a pair of buttons on the handle, the left selects 100 degree boil when held for a sec, the right selects the temperature if you just want warm or hot water - all very easy to use. The LED on the side of the kettle changes colour depending on the temperature that you've selected. The pour has a restrictor so that the kettle pours the water slower - so spills are kept to a minimum (it pours quickly but not like its a gaping great hole letting the water out) Overall I'm really impressed; very good value for money, well made and looks great.

A bit too cumbersome for overseas travel
I actually love the kettle and took it to Spain as we had hold luggage. Itโs large for a travel kettle but has a decent enough capacity for two cups or just over one large mug. The inside is metal and thereโs n bulky elements in there to crust up. I always boil at 100 but if I use it back home then the lower temperature would be ideal for coffee. It beeps when turned on which personally I feel is a bit unnecessary as it also lights up which is a function I like. Depending on which setting, there are different coloured lights which is a great idea and best of all, it boils up really quickly. Itโs great that the kettle is separate from the base BUT this takes up a lot of room in the suitcase as youโve got the lead & base and then the kettle itself. It will require some nifty packing and stuffing if youโve just got hand luggage. As an added bonus, itโs absolutely perfect for my daughter going to uni so I need to decide whether to buy another one and despite the bulkiness Iโm definitely making the purchase (Oh, it looks really smart too)

Great small kettle
I bought this because I wanted a good, low wattage kettle that my solar batteries can power at night without importing power from the grid... and unfortunately it fails in this respect. However, I have no regrets. The kettle uses much less power than my previous John Lewis kettle and has no minimum boil, making it much more energy efficient. Boil time is fine which surprised me. Beyond energy efficiency, it's got a load of other cool features. It bleeps when done, which has turned out to be quite handy when you're busy. Temperature settings are nice if you want to drink warm, but not boiling, water, i.e. not gimmicky. There's no plastic inside, just steel, so no funny flavour risk. The exterior is always cool to the touch. Finally, it looks good. Would recommend!

Excellent Kettle for Camping
Absolutely delighted with this kettle! We have a small campervan and were looking to get a small, electric kettle for when we are using an EHU in campsites. Reading reviews for many low-wattage travel kettles, I was quite worried about over heating and plastic tastes so really didn't want to go with a travel kettle. However, this kettle is not a travel kettle... It is a proper kitchen kettle! From reading their official website, it seems that it was created for single person households as a smaller alternative to large, high wattage kitchen kettles. It is only 0.5l (so we do boil it twice for two large mugs of tea) so is low wattage while still being a proper kitchen kettle. The inside is fully steel (no plastic) and the element is hidden. The kettle and base (i.e. plug) are separate so no worries about unplugging to fill and pour the kettle, as with many travel kettles. It is low wattage (just over 1kw) so suitable for campsite electrics but because it is only 0.5l, it is as quick as a regular 3kw kettle you'd have at home. No issues with funny tasting water. I would highly recommend this kettle as a small, low wattage kettle for use while camping or as a smaller, low wattage alternative at home.

SIMPLY THE BEST SOLO ELECTRIC KETTLE EVER
The Arendo 0.5l is simply the best electric kettle I wanted something that was temperature controlled so that I could drink it immediately at the right temperature and 500mls is enough for my large mug. It is not noisy and it light weight. Another great plus is that it is most definitely making a saving on the electric bill. It looks great and I love that the lid just lifts off easily to fill it, my previous kettles had a one hand movement lid which I was always lazy about and filled via the spout which spoiled in time. When I have company, which is not too often I will get the old large hob kettle out. This kettle is stylish and compact. Scores 10/10 in my book

Easy-boil
This is a great one-cup kettle I keep by the bed. Cordless, with an ergonomic grip, stainless steel interior and doesn't pour too quickly (great for avoiding spills). The temperature control is easy to use for boiling or just hot water (4 levels) and it beeps when setting and the temperature has been reached. Coloured LEDs flash when replacing the kettle on the base, and it's easy to keep clean. Boils up to half a litre quickly and fairly quietly. I would recommend this kettle for convenience and ease of use.
