We recommend because this slender and lightweight X230 covers all the basics and more. Powerful processor, plenty of memory, ultra-portable and most importantly, reliable.

Nice bit of kit
Bought this to replace a shoddy Acer that I had the misfortune of buying a couple of years agoI do a lot of typing so needed something with a properly laid out keyboard - a rare thing with laptops these days as they often have a stretched out keyboard for looks so that it doesn't look small compared to the screenSo went for a thinkpad as they are designed for business users - and designed to take the hammering that goes with a life on the roadAs for the refurb I bought. Spotlessly clean, worked as soon as Windows 10 had installed itself and done all the updates : note the licence key has a little scratch off panel to stop people photocopying it. Once I'd worked that out I was GoldenThis works. Allows me to do word processing and surfing the net, and does so without issues. If you want to connect to a second monitor 2 ways of doing that - a good old VGA socket, and a micro display port socket - so if you want to connect via HDMI to a monitor you're going to need a £6 adaptor - I can live with thatSeems a good buy so far

Great value for a laptop with an i5 processor.
Great way to to get a cheap laptop. Much better than buying new for what you get. Product is as described by the seller. The only downsides are that the screen resolution only goes up to 1366 x 768 pixels and the speakers are a bit weak but I just use a bluetooth speaker for watching films or listening to the radio. I travel a lot and wanted a small, light laptop that wouldn't break my heart if anything happened to it. Plus you are recycling which has to be good.On a side note: I had to flash the BIOS to install Linux Mint which did destroy one of the RAM chips, who knows why. This has nothing to do with the product or the service from the seller of course. Just thought I'd mention it. Took out the offending RAM and replaced it and it works fine.

Just a year's life?
Bought this great little laptop at the end of August 2020, it worked out of the box, wasn't the fastest, but reliable for doing a few emails.12th September 2021 - works normally.13th September 2021 - doesn't turn on, no lights and no sign of life either. Bought a new charger to rule that out as a cause, but still nothing. No, I didn't buy extended cover, it's a reliable make which has been competently refurbished and I expected more than 380 days of use.

no copy/paste function.. ... disappointing....
Had to draft a fairly lengthy letter today, was very disappointed there were no copy/paste functions at all - it proved IMPOSSIBLE to copy/paste..... also, there is a fairly considerable lag from pressing the keyboard to seeing what you are typing on screen.... also results in missing few letters of words which you then have to go back to amend (with further glitches, lagging)..... a bit disappointing if you have a fast typing speed of 35+ words per minute and impatient nature......

great value
For a refurbished device (from "AMAZINGOFFERS876" this laptop is in excellent condition. It seemed to be on when it arrived (sleeping) but it indicated it had 3.25hours of battery life. If you add a bit back for time between charging and getting it this suggested the supplied battery was in good condition. Lots of slots for sticking memory devices in.Whipped out the supplied hard drive in about 10 seconds shoved in an SSD and installed openSUSE but the tracking pad is a bit tricky. (Apparently it is a known issue with the original operating system too). It's solvable but a bit involved. Screen sharp, whole thing a bit heavier than I was hoping for, (especially the power supply) but a snappy laptop.

Amazing
It's a really great Machine don't regret buying it at all I love it, it does everything I need and more. The only downside is the battery doesn't last nire than an hour so you have to constantly keep it in charge but honestly not that big if a deal all round great laptop

Extremely disappointing and as useful as a plank.
This product was supposedly refurbished by computer experts but it might as well have been done by plumbers because the laptop was dead when I took it out of the box. The battery refused to charge even after 10 hours! Asked for a refund same day and returned it next day. Very disappointing experience. Eventually purchased a brand new hp Pavillion from the hp Store which I'm very happy with. I had to remind the seller about my refund as seller was very slow to acknowledge receipt of my returnn hence my refund was delayed. Very unhappy about this.
