Way better than sand. Easy to use, easy to clean, great value. They work really well, and I got enough in 1 bag that I can remove them to clean them, and use the spare while I wash the dirty ones.

Great product works like it advertised! Would advise buying 2 bags, easier to maintain your filter system when washing out the used filter media.

I was skeptical that something looking like 1970's pompoms was going to replace 120 pounds of heavy sand for my pool sand filter, but we are almost done for the season, and the water has never been so crystal clear all season. The weight reduction of the filter will be amazing when I close the pool for winter in September. I will be able to carry the filter vessel inside day one as opposed for days of wet sand drying out to empty the filer. The instruction to install were easy and clear. Bag included for storage over the winter. So much cheaper than three 50-pound bags of sand.

These are a game changer! My sister kept telling me I need to get them and try it in my filter system and I finally gave in. I do take them out and clean them a little more often than as recommended and my pool is crystal clear. I only have to vacuum once every two weeks and these have made a heck of a difference. I even put a handful of them in my skimmer basket for a little extra filtration and every time I clean them the water is dirty that I squeeze out so they definitely trap everything.

I would give 0 stars for this product if I could. This product does not work as described. My pool had so much algae. Also, always muck floating in it like you will see. After, pouring chemicals and chemicals in the pool to try and get it clean. Finally in less than a month I opened my pool filter and I was horrified. I had to make the decision to go back to filter sand. I do not recommend this product at all. Of course I made this decision after being embarrassed when my 4th of July guests came over. I only had these balls since June 6 and placed in filter June 7. Yet here we are past return window now. I have wasted so many chemicals. Water costs from backwashing my pool. Time not spent swimming due to algae.

Loved these as a replacement for the heavy sand in our above ground pool filter. It is useful to buy enough to allow for a replace and wash. The pool stayed clear!
