Earthwise 1816-18EW 18" 5-Blade Push Reel Lawn Mower Gray

I bought this because I live in a rental property with a small yard. Instead of paying 200+ dollars for a lawn mower I decided to go this route. However when I first got it, my lawn was overgrown pretty bad. By over grown I mean 2ft of grass in most areas of the yard. This product is not viable for tall grass/weeds like that. It just laid it down flat. Had to buy a separate manual weed wacker to cut up the tall stuff. After the first mow as long as the grass is kept up with, it works just fine! I mean it’s not going to be as pretty as a gas mower but it cuts your grass, doesn’t need gas (which is expensive right now) and it’s half the price! So if I gotta go pluck some weeds every now and then I don’t feel cheated plus I get a workout while mowing lol. It’s not hard to push, but definitely takes a little more muscle. It’s not going to get you tight edges like up against a house or fence line. Definitely recommend at-least buying a weedwacker with this product.

This won't be a good choice for uneven ground

Purchased 16" version of the Earthwise reel mower. It worked great right OOTB. Then purchased the second 18" version here on Amazon. The experience with the 18" mower had not been so good. The blades had to be adjusted and never really perform as well as the 16" version. Even though the 18" version is supposed to be a second generation mower. The quality compared to the 16" version is inferior. Thickness of the metal, quality of the grip wrapping, and even the knows on the adjusting levers are cheaply made. I wonder if it was even made by the same manufacturer. It cuts grass and guess that's the point, but if it had been made or performed as well as the 16" version this review would have been much more positive.

Easy to assemble ( only the handle) Pushes easily and blades are sharp to cut even tall grass.

So my riding mower is on the fritz and I didn't want to pay too much for a gas/electric mower because I know the one I have can be fixed. I bought this mower because it seemed like the best choice for a quick fix mower that would also serve the purpose of teaching the kids how to mow safely. We've had it for a few months now and it cuts grass ok. I have to give it a 3 though, because it does little to nothing on tall weeds. If by some miracle a weed is cut down it almost immediately wraps itself around the blades and a non moving part making the mower no longer move. I spend just as much time clearing it off as I do cutting the grass. I should've just gotten a cheap gas mower.
