This is long winded but tells the tale of frustration and eventual love for this somewhat flawed unit. I think one can reasonably expect 4 years of service from it. Pioneer's own t-tap connectors supplied at the end of the reverse gear trigger (backup camera) and parking brake sensor (AV safety lock-out) are of suspect quality or the copper wire jacket is bombproof, spent an hour troubleshooting no backup camera while in reverse, turns out Pioneer's T-connector wasn't biting into it's own reverse trigger cable coming out of the head unit, even after clamping down further with a pair of pliers! Cut those worthless things off the ends of the wire. Tap the reverse light +power with another connector to enable backup camera view while in reverse. Put a ground terminal on the parking brake sensor wire and bolt that to the body of the vehicle to override video lock-out. Operationally, it’s a bit wonky with an iPod/iPhone via USB. From OFF, a rather long 20-30 second start up to CarPlay screen of 128GB SE 2016, 60GB iPod 5G Classic contents (1.2K ALAC tracks) or 120GB 6.5G (11K tracks 256kbps AAC). Sometimes USB iPod connection not made or incomplete (music resumes, but no control to track or file menus; the solution is to switch to Bluetooth iPhone source and switch back to reinitiate, this is using an OEM 30pin Apple cable). Doesn’t miss the connection with iPhone in wired or BT mode but sometimes it defaults to BT over CarPlay. The same button juggling game needs to be played: press the main physical button to engage CarPlay OR switch back and forth with the touch screen buttons to the right. iOS 14.8.1 runs fine, and can display dual screen with phone wired and album art with BT. BT sound is better from an iPhone than wired! "Hey Siri” on voice command, no need to push any buttons if “Hey Siri” is enabled, super convenient. BT phone calls when answered while music plays on USB memory sticks, have a startling routine of momentarily increasing the music volume by 30-40% for half a second before switching to the caller or making a call. If listening to music at a decent volume, it can nearly give you a heart attack! Did anyone there at Pioneer run through all possible scenarios for these safety related bugs?! Bloody ridiculous! Video play with DVD-R does not display letter box. Zoom is the only option to prevent distortion of image. When watching from driver side at night, main physical button leaks light from button/screen edge gap (2nd photo), huge design oversight! With MKV files on USB, displays letterbox properly. Audio section is vastly inferior to previous my 15 year old JVC KD-SHX929 head unit: no real low-end extension (below 50Hz) and there is a hole in the mid-bass. Further, an ever-so-slightly brittle forward mid-fi sound is what I am now hearing through out the rest of the range. Running in STD mode with internal head-unit amp with four stock full-range 15cm Clarion speakers, 2.5cm aluminum dome tweeters on the dash with passive HPF and TS-WX130DA self-amplified sub from line-out. Takes a few days of listening to set equalizer for the space in the vehicle. I am wondering if the chip shortage has something to do with this awful sound, inferior opamps being sourced instead. I have owned a few pieces of Pioneer home and car audio gear in the last 40 years and this one is an absolute dog. After tweaking and careful listening over the past three months, music files on USB gives probably the best sound and the fastest loading times from the unit, as the unit is using its own DAC. Way less mid-fi brittleness and proper mid-bass, still kind of lacking on the extreme low-extension. USB is NOT gapless between tracks and picky about album art display (need baseline JPGs as metadata embedded at 600x600 or less). Plays 24-192 FLACs, but I am sure that is truncated to 16bit. It’s a huge trade-off, if you are picky about sound and want to use your iPod/iPhone wired, this model is a bloody disappointment. User experience is seemingly an afterthought, with all the slick hype-advertisement on Pioneer's website, you'd think they worked out all the kinks. They didn't, and I am sure people have had a few fender benders or ran a dog or two over distracted with their units just not working properly. Well, least the car's nav system is modern (and will forever remain that way), CarPlay/Siri hands-free voice control are rather convenient, music menus display more than two lines of text and album art. Update: 13 months later, changed from SE 2016 (15.7.2) to 13 mini (16.1.2), took advantage of the 6 month Apple Music free trial and lossless is pretty amazing within AM if you can spare the data. YTM is hit and miss depending on the encoding and bitrate. The old SE is now permanently attached to the unit, still logged in under Apple ID. It acts like a Carlink/Ottocast with the 13 mini hotspot with a caveat: no messaging with LINE, WhatsApp or Viber since it needs to be attached to a phone number. I can Bluetooth the 13 mini with cellular separately (after deleting previous phone’s BT profile) but no access to it via CarPlay, must switch to BT. On the wired iPhone logged under same Apple ID as hotspot iPhone: USB accessories setting is ON, wifi profile for hotspot is set to automatically join. Set shortcut automation to turn wifi on wired phone and low power mode off when connected. Low power mode on and wifi off when disconnected. A hotspot toggle shortcut can be placed in Home Screen of phone providing tether (or double/triple tap back under accessibility), but generally not needed as the wired phone 80% of time tethers to the hotspot. Update 2: 36 months later, stopped with the 1st Gen as a hotspot. Now on iOS 18.1.1 running in a 13 mini: no major issues with new iOS, some small glitches, music stops abruptly once in a while when streaming but may be cellular data throttling related. No degradation of LCD screen, no problems with surface of screen, gets wiped down with a wet konbini towelette every week or two. Physical buttons are still reactive. Really depend on it for G or A Maps and voice/vox2txt with LINE. Siri integration is crucial and I have come to rely on this device as I age. If it goes another year, it will have met my expectations for longevity. Update 3: 52 months later running iOS26.4, now with occasional lock ups or black screen in CarPlay are occurring with the caveat that I am using a fraying 10 year old A > Lightning USB cable. Bluetooth is now hit & miss, things appear to be going south with the unit. It has met my expectations for longevity at 4 years, as everything from this point is a bonus. I’m bumping it up a star despite the Pioneer’s half-baked development and cheap-ass components, for Apple ecosystem users, CarPlay (maps & streaming audio) and Siri voice assistance are must haves in the car and this unit probably is the cheapest to get into it without going to a no-name brand. All streaming apps like AM, Spotify and Amazon Music work very well with the interface. Screen brightness and contrast remain the same, all physical side buttons still reactive, amps are still intact despite listening to music at moderately loud levels. Only real glitchy thing is the Bluetooth.

操作がシンプルで使用感良いです。Apple CarPlayで携帯をリンクして音楽とナビを楽しんでいます。

そうそう利用はしないが、懐かし曲を聴くのにCDが使えるのは最新のディスプレイオーディオよりメリットありも 本当はSDスロットが欲しかった。起動やAndroidautoへの接続が遅く感じる。バックカメラへの切り替えも遅いので、画面に写る前にバック終わることもある。しかしこの価格でこの性能ならAVカーナビいらないと思った。

地図更新の費用がかからないディスプレイオーディオに変更。スマホの音源よりもCDのほうが音質が良いのでCD付きを選択。カーナビよりもはるかに安価に購入できて満足。

値段の割に多機能。音も良く純正スピーカーでも違いがハッキリ。 不満は各ボタンの位置。ステリモ使えば良いのだが、直感的にはちと使い難い。 スマホとのリンクが上手くいかない事があり今は取り外していますが、値段や機能や音質はバランスの良い2DINデッキと思います

NBロードスターに組み込みました。 有線ではあるもののApple Car Playに対応しているものの中でこの価格で買える商品は少ないですね、非常に良い買い物でした。私は基本的にGoogle Mapを使ってドライブするためもはやカーナビの機能はいらないんですよね。 画質はそこまでよくはないものの使用には全く問題ないです。（今時のナビに比べたら画質が劣るというだけで全然満足の範囲内です） タッチの操作感や反応も問題ないです。静電気式なのでスマホのように扱えます。 別途Amazonで買った中華製のバックカメラを取り付けましたがリバースに入れても最初はカメラが映らずびっくり。結局ナビ側のバックカメラの設定項目をいじることできちんと映し出されました。
