London Underground Lightbox

Love this, bought it for my son for his birthday as he loves all things underground / London related and he had been asking for it but now I want one too! It's so bright and quality is amazing, the light is really bright and he has fun changing the signs on it.

Many years ago, I wanted a decorative lamp in the design of the iconic London Underground roundel. Not really sure why. I just knew I wanted one.Last week, I saw one for the first time, albeit on another website at a higher price. But I knew I had to get one!Having spent a little time doing research before purchase, I became aware of a "New Edition" of this product being available at some point, but I couldn't see it available on any website in the UK.I went ahead and ordered from Amazon a few days ago, and received the product today. As my headline says, it is the New Edition I received, so i'm extra pleased about that!For those who don't know, the New Edition comes with 15 station inserts. These are as follows:The original 10 inserts:- Underground- London- Mind The Gap- Waterloo- Piccadilly Circus- Covent Garden- Angel- Victoria- King's Cross St. Pancras- Oxford CircusPlus an additional 5 inserts:- Baker Street- Wimbledon- West Ham- Arsenal- PaddingtonOther reviews have said that it's too hard to change the station inserts. My guess is that those reviewers haven't removed the clear protective film from the front of their chosen inserts before trying to slide them into place on the lightbox. I personally haven't had any issues at all with the protective films removed. If you really wanted to, you could change them with ease every 10 minutes. The biggest issue is where to store the ones you're not currently using without losing them!At the moment, I have the lightbox sitting on a shelf, and running on battery power. The light source is from LED's, so i'm curious to see how long the 6x AA batteries will last. But I do plan to have it running on USB power when I get a chance to run some cable to my chosen spot. The lightbox has a small stand on the back which is used when placing the lightbox on a firm, level surface like a shelf or a table. The stand can be removed from the unit, turned 180 degrees, and reattached to keep it out of site if you decide to hang the unit using the 2 small screw slots on the back.The supplied USB cable is standard USB plug to MicroUSB plug, in white, which might be useful if you intend to hang the lightbox on a white wall. The cable is a typical one-metre length, like a standard phone charging cable. So if your chosen location isn't near a plug socket, you might want to consider purchasing a USB extension cable.I haven't tested the USB power option just yet, but I will edit this review in a few days if necessary.In summary, this is a great, sturdy, very well made product which is just as much a British icon as Big Ben, London Buses, and Telephone Boxes. Very pleased with this product and I don't think it's badly priced at £35 either.EDIT: If anyone has issues with the white centre section going dim, or not lighting at all, change the batteries or plug in a USB power supply. My unit was running on batteries at the time of writing the review, and the centre section went dark after 4-6 hours. Changing the batteries solved this problem, as did plugging in USB power.

Love this. As other reviewers have said not sure why it comes with a white USB lead when the frame is black however you can resolve this cheaply and purchase a black USB lead . Light it gives off a great amount of light & comes with quite a few station names -great idea if you got a football fan you can use the Arsenal or the West Ham one looks really nice in lounge , I’ve just bought another one for my son Who wants “Paddington” in it ! it is also an officially licensed TfL product . Nice product .

Bought for my grandson whi loves anything trains. It's on his wall and loves it...the brightness is good the only thing we found was the cable wasn't very long and the signs were a little flimsy but it does look good when on

Lovely light, very bright and with the option to change all the station names, worth the buy.

Love this light. Will bepurchasing some rechargeable batteries though as it takes 6 AA's and they don't last long. The is a USB cable but it's really short and comes out from the side rather then the back

Even though it was so expensive I bought it as my son loves the underground and it just stopped working… says return window ended :/ what a waste of money!!

The media could not be loaded.  Absolutely fantastic! A must have for any railway/underground enthusiast or anyone looking to add a little bit of London to their home! It’s really bright as well!I have purchased other light boxes before and they’ve all been of dubious quality, and haven’t been very bright. This however, is really well made and is nice and bright!My only slight issue is that to run it from a USB, the cable goes into the side as apposed to somewhere on the back, so if you want to run this often without having a visible cable, I’d suggest a couple of packs of rechargeable batteries so you’re not constantly buying new ones, and so there is always a set charging while the other set is being used in the light.Other than that, perfect!

Die erste Lieferung war leider defekt, aber binnen 3 Tagen Ersatz gehabt und die Leuchte ist für jeden London-Liebhaber ein Muss. Super schön und man tut auch etwas Gutes, da sich mit dem Kauf der Leuchte, dass London Transport Museum finanziert.
