Q: Can this be used for wood pyrography?

Yes, you can use it for wood burning (pyrography). It heats up very fast about 15 seconds. It comes with 5 different soldering tips and you can adjust the heat setting according to your requirements. This soldering iron tools are widely used in PCB welding, equipment maintenance, jewelry welding, wood products, craft welding, auto repair , computer / cell phone repair, home appliance, and earphone / guitar repair. Very suitable for beginners, welders, basic household equipment, welding technician training.

Q: Is the heating element easy to change if worn? what is the part # online

Easy to change tips? Yes. The threaded collar holds a sleeve. The sleeve holds the soldering iron tip. The tip is hollow and slides down onto a heating element. Can't change tips without a cool-down period. I used the conical 1.2mm for through-hole work. Tried the .8mm tip on surface mount chips but it bent. Went back to the 1.2 with moderate success. Just found a 1.2mm chisel tip that fits and works really well on the SMD's. It's more of a cold chisel shape that tapers on both sides to the 1.2 width. Makes a huge difference!
