The tape measure is packaged in one of those irritating 'blister' packs that means that you can't get to the tape measure without completely destroying the packaging. This means that you can't check out or test the tape measure without destroying the packaging, which is irritating. It also means that the packaging is non-recyclable, which is a bad look in 2025. However once opened, the tape measure itself is wonderful - its very hefty and solid, and the finish is rubberised and slightly giving, making it ergonomic and comfortable in the hand. The flat base is very handy and well thought out for measuring along flat surfaces without the tape measure falling over when unsupported - a feature many tape measures lack for some reason. The lock button is large and easy to use and works relatively well, although is slightly imprecise - when you 'lock' it there is a few mm of tape retraction after letting go of the button before the internal 'clutch' actually engages - a small issue but one I've not had on previous tape measures. The lock does hold strong though after that with no slipping. The markings on the tape measure itself are clear, although at the extreme end are slightly harder to read than they need to be due to a ridiculous collection of trademarks, product numbers, logos and other text that work to obscure the actual distance markings (pictured). The tape itself is white rather than the more typical yellow, which I'm not sure if I like, but the text is relatively easy to read - although the numbering itself could perhaps be in a larger font for clearer reading, it seems unnecessarily small. All in all, a 4 out of 5 stars. The construction itself is bullet proof and some features like the flat base are well thought out, but the tape markings themselves need improving - decluttering and removal of unnecessary extra text and an increase in font size for the numbering that actually matters.

Just a required well made ,I won’t be using the pencil function because my pencil stays behind my ear , nice strong ruler when extended and easy to read measurements in metric and British standard feet and inches . Highly recommend

Three metre tape. Kept buying longer Stanley ones that just kept sproinging apart. Realised I don't actually need an 8m tape that often so just bought a manual reel one for those jobs. This one is fine for around the house. Auto locks as it extends. Button releases the lock to auto wind it back. Seems good quality. Metric only though!
