Can you wash these bags in the washing machine?

Yes you can. Remember to take the cold pack out. They wash well.

How do you keep the gel cool to reuse it?

Hello! I actually purchased this for a friend who is diabetic. I've just contacted her and she keeps the gel in the freezer and only puts it in her bag when going out. It will generally last the day and then goes back in freezer once back home. Hope this helps.
