A few points of interest: buy the Deluxe Edition, bots included
As a Battlefield fan on consoles (Modern Combat, Bad Company), I decided to buy this for PC in anticipation of the upcoming Battlefield 3 release (Oct 25 for both consoles and PC). Of course the game is awesome, but I wanted to point out a few things: 1. Installation of the Deluxe Edition was painless. I just ran the installer (which also installs the Special Forces expansion), then patch 1.41, then patch 1.50 (both of which are available as free and legal downloads from many sites, including EA ftp). This seems to patch everything (including Special Forces) just fine. And I had no problems with the registration codes, at least not for the shrink-wrapped copy I purchased (there are 2 codes, one for BF2 and one for the SF expansion which is really a completely separate game). 2. The patched game now includes a ton of free extra content (maps, weapons, etc), including the stuff originally sold online and as part of the Complete Collection. To reiterate, buy the Deluxe Edition and patch it to avoid installation hassles. 3. As a (former) console player, I am blown away by the amount of content and all the options included on the PC. It is so nice to be able to tweak the controls to my liking! The downside is that I spent my first 3 hours of playtime just learning/tweaking the controls, and I'm still not done. 4. One nice surprise that I hadn't really seen mentioned before is that there is a single player mode with bots! Game types are the same as multiplayer, so it lets you practice and learn the ropes before going online to get spawn-killed! Seriously, I haven't even gone online yet because I know what it's like. So I'm really happy to have the bots included. There are tone of gadgets and things to learn, as well as practicing core skills (like aiming). 5. So far I am using both the keyboard and an Xbox controller and it seems to be working great. For the controller, I use a mouse/keyboard mapping program (GlovePIE, similar to XPadder) for more flexibility (instead of the game's built in controller support which seems fine but is limited). In closing, I couldn't be happier with this $12 purchase.

Received CD's but no sleeve or CD KEY
Received CD's but no sleeve or CD KEY. This is NOT "like new" as this game is unplayable without the Key. Also, this is not the deluxe edition this is the standard edition!

An excellent blast from the past
Ive been playing battlefield ever since the release of Battlefield 2. Even now with Battlefield 3 available, I always come back to this on because of the HOURS of fun and mindless shenanigans my friends and I experience throughout our time playing. There are a few points that should be mentioned before buying the hard copy of the game. The first is that, currently, you are unable to play online because of the the serial numbers linked to this game have not been registered for use by Origin (Origin is a game launcher which allows you to connect online with all current EA games). This means that you would want to buy the virtual download for the game from the Origin site directly (Found here: [...]) if you want to play online. The issue will hopefully be resolved soon. Anyways, this game is AMAZING and I highly recommended it to any PC gamer that has not played it.

Good Game: Major Balance Flaw
Battlefield 2 is a game with excellent potential. GRAPHICS: It has great graphics. Of course you pay for these graphics by having to have a substantial game system. Check system specs carefully before purchasing and don't try to run this game on min. requirements. The map detail, the animations are all extremely well done. GAME PLAY: You have 7 different kits you can play - each with a powerful and unique role on the modern battlefield. I've not found any one kit to be without a great deal of playability. Medic, Engineer, Anti-Tank, Assault, Special Forces, Support, Sniper - they all have fun and challenging tasks. THE PROBLEM: Unfortunately, for all the the incredible game play there is a serious balance issue with the game. Whereas nearly every thing you can do in the game from Sniper to Tanker has a series of counters (hence balance) the jets in the game have no reasonable balance. This means if you get in a game with a jet 'whore' (meaning someone who flys jets exclusively) you'll likely end up spending alot of time looking at your death screen. A couple of jets can dominate a game with 30-40 other people in it - thereby basically ruining it for everyone else -- this happens way too often an there is no cure as the anti-aircraft emplacements don't work. Despite complaints to EA about the balance issue since the game launch the company has failed to address this issue, which I've found so frustrating that after 2 months of play I'm ready to throw the dang game away. A simple fix to the anti-aircraft, or the ability to turn the jets off would put this game in the 5 star ratings easily - unfortunately, as it stands the game is little more than a penny arcade for whoever gets the jets first. A FIX If you are willing to play on infrantry only servers or if you are willing to play on maps that don't have jets at all (all my favorite maps have jets...so I lose there) then you can get away from this GROSS imbalance - in that case, the game would be worth your money.

BEST FPS FOR MY PC!!!!
Having played the previous battlefields, [ 1942, both packs and vietnam ] i wanted to try something different. THIS ROCKS!! I have never seen a better game for outdated PCs. Like Vietnam, this includes helicopters, fighter jets, attack jets and even tanks. But this game also includes BMPs, FAVs, and advanced assault rifles. But this part is for the original. Special forces has even better equipment: like the zipline, grappling hook, and tear gas. But barely any air vehicles. Which kinda sucks. But nonetheless, is still great. I haven't bought the Booster pack yet, but this will hold me till then.
