Great Upgrade for More Accurate Temperature Readings
This radiation shield is solid, well made, and took just a few minutes to install. As you can see in my first photo, I mounted it on my weather station with no issues. The second photo shows the sensor reporting back to my Ambient Weather console. The shield does exactly what it’s supposed to do by helping reduce direct solar heating of the sensor, making the temperature readings more reliable. If you already have an Ambient Weather station, I’d definitely recommend adding one. P.S. If you’re wondering about the cloud in my first photo… I can neither confirm nor deny that it was part of a classified weather modification test. 🤫😂

It is accurate and it worked in humid greenhouse.
I used this for my greenhouse, as I wanted to know the temps in there without actually being in there. If it got too cold, I'd turn on a bulb. I liked that I could just look on my phone and see what the temp was on cold nights. I have only used it one season in the greenhouse but then stuck it in the garage and knew how warm it was in there too. Sometimes I would leave the garage door open until it cooled off too. It was nice to know the temps without walking outside to look at a guage. I think the temps were accurate, or at least as accurate as the thermometer I have in both areas.

Mounted up easily. All necessary hardware is included for a wide variety of mounting situations. I’m not sure what some other reviewers were speaking of when they said they had to custom make parts to mount it. (?) I mounted it to a 1.25 inch aluminum mast with the included hardware. Easy peasy and extra cheesy❗️ 🧀

Works well, needs a wider array of mounting hardware
Works OK for the Ambient lightning sensor. Could be very simple to install or not, it depends on your situation. The housing needs a wider array of fastening options, only fits a very small pole. You can face mount it to the side of your home, on a fence post or a separate structure. Just keep it away from an automatic standby generator if you have one. To mount the housing to main weather station pole, I made a backer plate from an old polyethylene cutting board and bought two 1 1/4 stainless U-bolts (see photos). I had to move the lighting sensor away from my Generac automatic standby generator - it was causing false positive lightning strikes - see the photo of the weather station monitor with 110 lighting strikes. It was a crystal clear day when that showed up - it was my generator exercising that caused the false count. Overall, this housing works well, it’s easy to access the detector inside and it’s weather proof (the sensor is NOT weather proof!) . The issue can be mounting, hence the 4 star rating. I came up with a solution but I can fix most anything. You might not have the same skill set - good luck. Hope that helps!
