Q: Does this system need to touch floor of lake?

Good Afternoon the Mini Maxx needs to be attached at the bottom to a piling. this prevents the lift from moving side to side when loading and unloading watercraft. Thank you

Q: Which dimension is 7’?

Good Morning, The mast it self is actually about 3 foot longer than the feet of travel. For example the 5 ft travel has about an 8 ft mast because about 3ft of the mast is in the housing unit. If you need 7 foot total you will need the 5 feet of travel if you need 7 feet of travel you will actually have about 10 Foot mast. Q: Can you be seated on the PWC and Lower in and lift out of the water?

Yes. You can also crank it up while being on the ski. This is the best lift I have seen as I compare to the others on the lake.
